Garp? He didn't raise me. Besides, you're hurting them just by being affiliated with them. You're forcing them into a lifestyle they may not even want, but just because it's a life you enjoy, you're fine with it.

As for prejudices just because of my name, it'd likewise be their choice to keep it or not. There will always be prejudices from weak or easily scared people who think in ignorant ways. Whether for devil fruit users, fishmen, strength or something as inane as looks and gender or career. I could only hope to protect them and raise them to believe in themselves and not try to make a whole world like them when such a thing is impossible.

Do you know why Pops has us wear these tattoos Ace? It's not indentured servitude or anything like that. And beyond a mark of loyalty and love for him; it protects the ones in our crew who need it. Just like he protects Fishmen Island from other pirates and idiot slavers. Anyone who even thought to come after my kids would find out very quickly why that's a bad idea.
