[ACTION] Backdated to Fisherman's Horizon


[After about an hour of going through her room, Grell is carrying out a box full of various items. Stuffed animals, drawings, and other memories of her son who was taken away by Time Compression. Her current path will take her outside of Garden, and hopefully someplace where she can burn things quietly. Feel free to bump into her, because she doesn't care who she bowls over in her trek.

She may or may not be in a good mood. Again.]

For those of us who have been here for over three years, who is considering becoming a naturalized citizen? Do keep in mind it may entail being covered in tomatoes once in a while. If lucky.

OOF--!! [Thoroughly tackled, and all the contents topple to the floor, along with Grell. She tries to shove his face away.]

NO! ARE YOU INSANE?!

[Seeing Marco move like that, Espio had to follow. See, at the moment Espio wouldn't normally bother with Grell more than a passing comment or greeting, but um... Grell. He saw those things too. And he's not impressed.

He hops from his nearby ledge to the ground, and picks up one of the items.

What are you doing?

[Grell couldn't help but grin a bit at that response from Marco before grabbing his shirt.]

Sanity is relative! [And she flings him to the side. He's gonna owe her new knee socks if he keeps tackling her! She goes over to her fallen box and begins to put back the items that fell out, like that pokemon plushie.]

What does it look like I'm doing? I know you're brighter than that!

It looks like you're attempting to dispose of what should be your personal treasures. Oh, and your husband's, for that matter. Without saying anything.

[He's not gonna reach for the box just yet, though. No. He'll wait for a distraction.]

I didn't touch any of Marco's things! These are MINE! [She very focused and shoving things inside.]

[Tackles her again and phoenix kicks her into the wall.]

I didn't think you were so weak that you couldn't take a little pain, Princess.

[Indeed, they are her things, but that doesn't make it okay.]

Does that really make it okay?

Why are you throwing all of it away?

[They are so pissing her off.

The wall is not soft at all, but Grell is used to that. She lands easily, with a bit of a stumble, onto her feet. They both receive a glare for all their effort. How she loathes being called weak.]

Pain is a choice, my dear. Are you to blame me for making a choice? [She holds out a palm at the box before shooting a Fira spell at it.]

Who said I was throwing it away?

[Growls and dives for the box to stop it from being burned.]

Pirate tradition, love. Treasures get buried if you can't bear to hold onto them.

[Espio's just gonna stand here, looking kind of... sad, actually. Because he doesn't understand at all.]

Y'know, I would have thought Toby was too important to burn all the memories. At least keep something.

And besides, he's not even gone forever. He's just not here right now.

[She contemplates wasting more spells in an attempt to burn that box, or should she just call out her GF, Ifrit. For now, she'll think it over for a short while.]

I'll always have his memories, but I'm not foolish enough to believe he'll RETURN! [Her fists ball up tightly in frustrated anger, her jaw clenched.] Pirate or not, I'm BURNING THEM TO CINDERS!

[Perhaps she made up her mind about calling her GF, because the air around her vicinity suddenly becomes really hot.]

[Oh. He's mad. He doesn't yell, doesn't flinch, just gets drenched in blue flames and his voice is eerily clam in deadpan as he stalks towards her.]

[Lightning quick he full out tackles her again, this time with talons around her throat, good luck calling a GF when you can't raise your voice above a whisper.]

You don't think he'll return? So what? That is the price we pay, love.

[Dives in and grabs the box, before bringing out his Chaos Emerald to warp away.

Granted, he only goes around the corner, because he's already learned that this new trick he's learned is painfully limited in the real world, but it gets him away and out of sight so that's fine.

He peers around the corner a moment, but... okay, bye bye, running away now.]

I'm not surprised it was Balamb that offered us citizenship first. They have more exposure to off-worlders than anywhere else, after all. But when you consider that it wasn't long ago Esthar threw out a bill that would just give us rights, it's an interesting move to make.

I wonder if going with it would really make much of a difference, though? The way things are at the moment, if any of us who qualify do decide to become citizens, I think only Balamb would actually consider us citizens of Balamb.

[If that wall wasn't more broken, it's pretty much rubble by now. Fortunately for Grell, she doesn't need to breathe. Unfortunately she still needed a voice, and those talons on her throat pretty much cut that off. She grabs at the ankle and tries to pull it away with all her might, not caring if it may just rip out her larynx in the end.

Does Marco want an answer? He may not get one with that talon on her throat like that. In the meantime, Grell glares daggers at him, not even feeling deterred in the least in her endeavors.

She doesn't worry about Espio. Once she's done here, she'll go find him easily.]

It's probably a ploy to reintroduce that bill, or at the least, make a new one.

Truth be told, I'm not sure any one of us would want to live anywhere else besides Balamb, anyway.

Maybe.

And I guess that's true. I like Balamb. There's no big cities like the ones I'm used to, but it's practically home at this point.

[he had been wandering by the room, looking for a Marco, and found a Grell instead, eyeing the things she's taking out--feeling a small pang like a dagger in his heart. Must be related to Toby... Still, he smiles softly and leans in the doorway]

What I'm curious about is what benefits we would receive as naturalized citizens. If we're allowed to vote, then I know a certain foul-mouthed person who needs to go.

[Grell looks over her shoulder from her crouched position on the floor, seeing Thatch in the doorway. She stands and sighs with a shake of her head.]

[he picks up a stuffed animal of some kind that had been left behind and rubs a thumb over the softness of it]

Heard he was a good kid. He live here with you guys?

He was, yes. [Grell folds her arms, watching him with the stuffed animal. It was one of those fire-type bird pokemon she couldn't remember the name of.] He lived in his own room.
