[Continuation of this! After private messaging Selphie the number of the classroom he and Zainah are in, Russell stands and runs his hands through his formerly tidy blonde hair. Zainah is too absorbed by a page full of numbers to look at him.]

Sorry. [Russ sits back down, but switches to drumming his fingers on his laptop; this earns a scowl from Zainah which goes utterly unnoticed.] But - what if she doesn't like us?

[The door's open, and their voices are just loud enough to be audible in the hall.]

The door to the classroom slides opens and she enters it to be hit with a wave of nostalgia. 22 years ago, she had been sitting in one of these classrooms waiting to hear if she would be going on the field exam or not. When she spots the two committee members, Selphie smiles warmly at the duo.]

[Zainah stifles a laugh at that (though she similarly hadn't expected to be a little taller than Selphie), and offers a hand to shake.] I'm Zainah Coppell, and the giant over here's my co-leader, Russell Drake.

Who have brought some very interesting traditions to Garden. [Ever the diplomat.] We've been doing present deliveries for an Earth holiday called Valentine's Day; last year we hosted a dance for it but this year it was really close to the graduation ball, so we had these host and hostess clubs and a movie screening instead. We started doing a whole carnival, a charity date auction, and a dance with an election for this thing called Homecoming -
I still don't understand what we're supposed to be coming home from.
Neither do I, to be honest.
We had a paintball tournament and a bonfire for Holi [which we've headcanoned as from Trabia], too, and we're hoping to bring back the sponsorship games next year, a competition between the different sponsorships.
A lot of our events have been fundraising for charity, usually for the Centra orphanage, but this year we started fundraising to build a rec room, a bit like the adult lounge but with things like games instead of alcohol.
We're at about ten percent of the initial estimate we gave the faculty.
okay, Holi sounds fun. xD Holi = Christmas?
Holi! Oh man, I've missed Holi so much. There's so much more to Holi than just the traditional bonfire though. What else do you know about Holi?
Fundraising? How much do you guys need? Anything I can help out with? And I wanna know more about this Valentine's Day too. Maybe there's a way to merge off-world holidays and traditions with our holidays and traditions.
And how many people are on the Committee currently?

As for the fundraising... [She gives a big number, somewhere in the ten thousands.] Any help would be great, since the budget cuts hit us as well as the SeeD salaries. We've been having to call in favors and beg for sponsorship a lot more with recent events.
Z knows a lot of the local businesses, though. [She covers a proud smile.] I think Valentine's Day is my favorite new festival! It's a holiday for lovers.
Says the bachelor.
[He laughs.] Other people getting together are cute, alright? But yeah, merging together holidays and traditions from our world and the different ones is kind of what we're trying to do for the Shiva festival. [Zainah is totally not frowning, nope.] There's too much of an 'us against them' mentality sometimes, you know?
[So Z's just going to change the subject.] We've got about twelve people at the moment [all of whom are NPCs sigh], though sometimes we get people volunteering to help out just for certain events.
It became purely a student club I think about ten years ago, but we're considering opening up membership to SeeDs again.
Ooooh, you'll have to fill me in on all the details sometime.
The fundraising tally wasn't good and there seemed to be some sort of gap between all of the worlds. Perhaps they could take the best parts of Holi and expand on them, give them a Balamb Garden flavour.]
What about a charity lottery? Goods and services could be donated and we could sell tickets worldwide to help support Garden and the Orphanage?
As for Valentine's Day, what about a Bachelor/Bachlorette auction? And with Holi, what if we took the basis of Holi and gave it a Balamb twist?
Twelve people... you guys have had more luck getting people to join than I ever did! But if you'll have me, I'd love to lend a hand.

[Russell grins.] We had a date auction last year for Homecoming - I'd love to do one again, and Valentine's Day is probably appropriate for it. Giving Holi a Balamb twist sounds great too!
Honestly, we haven't had any luck getting new members since before me and Zainah's run as co-leaders. Most of the group we have right now are longtime members.
I'd love to get some new blood in...
We're still deciding on whether we'll allow SeeDs to join, but you'll definitely be the first person we'll tell if we do, and we're always grateful for non-member help too.

FH is still giving us grief even after all we did to save them? Man, what a bunch of jerks! Esthar? Really? Isn't Sir Laguna in charge still?

A few months ago they attacked a SeeD team and then sent an ambassador over saying it was nothing personal - I'm not sure I buy it.
