Hello Balamb Garden.

I hope everyone is safe and sound, and if not, then I wish that your recovery is swift and comfortable. The recovery efforts will be difficult, but it will be quicker with many hands on board. Of course I'll be assisting and doing my part, and I hope that others can too.

In the meantime, does anyone have any extra earplugs?

[ACTION]

[Gakupo is busy clearing floor debris near the entrance of the Garden. He looks pretty deep in thought that he may not even notice anyone approach. It's as if Gakupo is simply running on autopilot, since he's been cleaning that same spot for the past seven minutes.

He has his ear coverings on, because last time he didn't have them on hand, it was excruciatingly painful. ]

[ Sigyn finishes her brisk sojourn around the outer rims of Garden, ending the trip at the entrance. She is careful to not tear her dress's skirt, and to lift her chin just right so that the frail light makes the gold about her throat gleam. ]

I do think that particular assortment of tiles have been thoroughly cleaned, Gakupo.

[ she lifts a hand, blue magic wrapping about the remaining debris covering the path to the entrance, and clearing it to the side. ]

[Just as Gakupo was going to reply, the gleam of gold stops him and he has to blink and squint because its pretty darn shiny and well kept. He does manage to look down and see that she was right. Oops.]

Ah, yes...you're correct. [He looks to her and OH RIGHT GOLD.] You look very lovely today. [Despite him squinting]

[ Sigyn puts a finger on her necklace, closing her eyes. ] It is not my mother's legendary gold, but it is a pale replication to the true article's beauty.

[ she lowers the gleam upon the metal and steps towards Gakupo with open arms. ] Are your ears bothering you?

[The gleam is not as intense, and he can see the necklace details a lot better than before.]

Ah, I see. I can only imagine how the real thing would look.

[He sighs and nods with a soft smile, stepping towards her.] It isn't the first time, so I should survive. [With a chuckle, Gakupo places his hands upon her sides.] I think I'll avoid any concerts for a while, though.

[ Sigyn smiles and leans into Gakupo's side. ] If that is a consistent trouble, then perhaps you should see the doctors in the medical wing.

[His smile fades a bit at the mention of seeking a doctor. Gakupo simply shakes his head at the suggestion.]

I think I've seen enough doctors in my life. It's merely one of the side effects to my hearing condition. Your concern is noted, however, and very much appreciated.

[ Sigyn does not like that lovely smile of Gakupo's disappearing so soon after she made it appear so magically. ] It is obvious that you must currently use some type of tool to help your condition. What are they? Perhaps if they are mechanical, I can assist in perfecting their designs.

[Gakupo simply taps on his ear coverings.] These help filter out high pitched noises and sounds that grate on the ears. I'm not exactly sure how they work, but the do! [He gives a bashful smile, because he should really know how they work.]

Perhaps we can go somewhere quiet and I can attempt to replicate the devices.

[He blinks in surprise.]

You can do such a thing?

I might require assistance of an engineer that is more skilled in dealing with Midgardian technology -- as I am no miracle dwarf -- but I am certain that it can be done.

It may be best to ask someone who is a computer science specialist. I'm not sure if we have engineers unless they are off-worlders. [Since at least two tend to be techno-geniuses.]

We shall do our best. [ She reaches up to brush back a strand of violet hair. ]

[He leans into the hand with a smile before reaching up to take it.] I'm sure you will. [With the other, he removes the ear coverings for her to tinker with and hands them over to her.] Just...don't break them.

[ She lifts herself up on her tip-toes, kissing Gakupo's cheek, whilst accepting the small devices carefully. ] I will only examine, my Samurai.

[Slughorn, too preoccupied to notice those ear coverings, strides up with his wand out, frowning at the structural damage to the walls.]

You'd think they'd have students doing this. Good learning experience for them, I say.

[Gakupo looks over to the new voice, curious.]

You mean cleaning is a good learning experience?

Of course! Discipline and humility and whatnot.

[He brandishes his wand, then sweeps it downward in one decisive gesture. Rubble lifts off the ground, then zips over to the wall as it begins reconstructing itself like a massive three-dimensional puzzle. The blocks, pebbles, and chunks crash into place, then abruptly seal, so that the wall looks good as new.]

[Gakupo watches, with his mouth agape because that was pretty darn awesome! He points at the wall, dumbstruck.]

H-How...

[Slughorn holds up his wand, then waggles it a bit at Gakupo.]

Really now, how long have you lived in this world and not realized magic exists?

Last I checked, we didn't use...what is that, a wand?

Of course not! Paramagic isn't magic. This is the real thing. None of that 'blizzard' or 'fire' business here.

So what is the difference?

For one, real magic is inborn. Paramagic is simply taking magic from others and storing it. For control, of course, you generally need a wand -- [He holds up his own demonstratively] -- but even without the wand, the witch or wizard remains a witch or wizard.
