Got a question for you all out there... at least, the ones I've never asked this of before.

What's magic like on your worlds? Did it exist? Could anyone use it, or was it in the hands of just a few? Did it terrify people, like it does here? Was there a substitute for it?

No deep reason, just curious. My own world has a lot of similarities to this one, that way. Makes me wonder what other ones are like.

That's why I never left the tower. Until I met Eugene and made a deal with him that he would take me to see the floating lights--the lanterns, and return me home safely.

Well, 'floating lights' sure sounds like something I'd take my fiancee to, anyway. Good to hear things turned out okay.

Fiance? Well, yes. Things worked out well considering everything. I only ever saw them from my window at first, so I couldn't tell what the lights were. I just knew they appeared every year on my birthday and they moved up into the sky. Eugene explained they were lanterns.

Eugene says we do, I guess I was brought here just before that though.

Oh wonderful. One of THOSE situations. I hope it hasn't been too bad.

Yeah. It's been...interesting. I'm just glad to hear things work out. Mostly. It's still been a lot to take in, Eugene doesn't seem to be from too far ahead but even then a lot happens that I needed to be caught up on.
