[Action]
[There's a perhaps new or perhaps even old familiar face in the quad, he's seated off to the side, a slim wooden box beside him with a black and white checkered pattern gracing the top of it, beside it rests an empty file folder. The man himself is currently reading the papers that the folder contained, the contents of which are actually a list of names, along with times and dates. Other papers contain plans for certain subjects, notes on what's been covered and what's left to be covered.
Basically, he's restablishing himself back into the flow of things while he has the time, before he resumes the duties he actually holds while inside the garden. However, feel free to come up and say hello or question just what that strange rectangular box beside him is. He won't mind.]

Whatcha doin'?
no subject
Catching up on what's happened while I was away. What have you been up to?
no subject
[A pause and head tilt.]
Wait, when did YOU get back?!
no subject
Today actually. What's this hobby of yours?
no subject
[She starts to peek all over his papers in distraction.] I'm trying to learn capoeira.
no subject
[Since he knows he won't be getting any further in reading right now, he'll just put those papers back into their folder for the time being.]
Capoeira?
no subject
I think that's what it is! It's like break dancing, but for FIGHTING!
no subject
Interesting. Perhaps you can show me sometime.
no subject
I'm pretty choppy, so there's your warning! Just keep your distance, and you'll be safe!
no subject
Duly noted. I'll be sure to do that.
no subject
Are you new? I don't think I've seen you here before.
no subject
No, I teach here actually. I've just been away on a mission.
Roy Mustang.
no subject
[Because for all she knew he might be a teacher of one of her classes she is taking.]
I'm Rapunzel!
no subject
Physics and Chemistry. A pleasure to meet you, Rapunzel.
no subject
[It's still sort of habit, to call her Mother. Even if she now knows the truth, that Gothel had lied to her about that. About everything.]
no subject
Should I keep an eye out for her?
[As in should he be cautious around the woman or just keep her at arms distance so to speak and go about his business.]
no subject
[It was not Mustang that Gothel was unhappy with, after all. It was Rapunzel for leaving the tower, and Eugene for encouraging her and trying to rescue her 'daughter'. Rapunzel was still finding that a little hard to believe and thus generally trying to keep out of Gothel's way for the most part.]
no subject
[Teasing good humor there, he's trying at least to get her to at least smile again, maybe cheer her up a little.]
Have you decided what you're going to specialize in yet?
[Topic changes, always work too.]
no subject
[Yes, topic changes are good. Away from the stabbing and killing of Eugene from her thoughts, definitely. Rapunzel bites her lip and tucks some hair behind her ear.]
Um, I'm hoping to go into para-magic, with recovery. I help out at the infirmary with Touma a lot when I'm not in classes.

[The seventy feet of which is braided and trailing near her ankles but thankfully not trailing along behind her as it would be if she had it down.]

...
Okay. One important thing to remember about Mustang is that if you've seen him, he's probably already seen you (and will be smug about it). Another important thing is that he deserves to be either yelled at or hit over the head with the book Ed's holding, and it's hard to decide which... but since both of those
especially the latterinvolve storming right up to the guy, his immediate course of action is pretty damn obvious.]Hey, general. [His tone's actually fairly light, even if the expression on his face is anything but.] Tell me this place finally drove me crazy and I'm starting to see things.
no subject
Admittedly the first thing which came to his attention was the lack of height, and the fact he was again wearing gloves. Excuse the invasion of personal space, Ed, the man wants to check something and thus he's now holding his papers in his left hand and reaching out with his right to take hold of Ed's right arm.
Automail.
He'd almost suspected that when he'd seen the gloves. It was possible perhaps the boy was from an earlier point in time. Considering the issue which had dragged them here, it was all too possible for that to happen. The only thing which threw a wrench into that idea was the fact Ed had called him General. A title he hadn't used in over a year since his arrival here. He lets the arm go, as he finally answers the boy.]
Fullmetal... you're no more crazy than I am.
no subject
And... wait a minute, no gloves? Then what did he just catch a glimpse of on the back of the guy's hand? But he shakes the thought off, at least for now.]
You know, that's not exactly a reassuring way of putting it. [This glare should probably be familiar too.] So... when did you get here, and what was that for?
no subject
I've been here for well over a year now, unless you mean when did I get back here; I just returned from a mission I was on today. As for your arm... the last time I saw you... you had your actual arm back and...well.. you were taller.
[Yes, he just had to go there.]
1/2
2/2
Over a... You've been here this whole time? Why the hell didn't I hear anything about this?! [He must be shocked - he's not just managing to overlook the fact that Mustang definitely wasn't around back when he did briefly regain his limbs, he interrupted his own rant.]
no subject
I wouldn't know. How long have you been here?
no subject
Four months. Which is when I last saw you, so I'm guessing you're some kind of future General or something. [He lets out an unnecessarily forceful sigh.] Just great. Who cares about getting home? All I really wanted was for things to get complicated over here.
no subject
I've been working outside of Balamb for awhile. That's likely why we haven't run into each other until now. I have a question for you now however. [He's dead serious now.]
You're obviously from some point before the Promised Day in my past... considering the obvious fact that you're missing your arm again. [Not to mention a good foot in height.]
How is it that you know I'm a General?
no subject
There's another possibility starting to nag at the back of Ed's mind, and he doesn't think he likes it. Though, come to think - that other him had been taller than him, hadn't he?]
no subject
What stunt with the Führer? The coup d'état of Central?
I didn't become a General until well after the Promised Day. I was still a Colonel when you got your arm and brother back. If you're from before then, then you shouldn't know that I became a General unless someone here told you, and considering you didn't even know I was here until now..
[Yep, things were definitely not adding up. Time for you to do some explaining Ed.]
Before I was brought here, it was 1917 in Amestris and Grumman was Führer.
no subject
Despite himself, he relaxes a little and even manages a small smile, although it seems to be directed more at his feet than at Mustang.] Should've figured... For a moment there, I really thought you were someone I knew. [He looks up again.] Yeah, you're right. I didn't know you were a general. Hell, I don't even know if your name's the same as his - that Mustang guy who thought killing the Führer was all he was good for any more. Doesn't matter what year I'm from if we aren't talking about the same Amestris to begin with.
no subject
My name is Roy Mustang, The Flame Alchemist. I might not be the Mustang you personally knew, but I would be privileged I think to get to know you if you're anything like the Fullmetal Alchemist, Edward Elric that I knew where I'm from.
[He extended a hand for the boy to take and shake if he was so inclined.]
no subject
That hand being offered definitely looks like it's seen better days. He eyes it curiously for a second, but seeing as this man is almost a stranger, it's probably not a good idea to ask. Instead of taking it, he gives Roy a little wave with his own right hand, letting his sleeve slip down his wrist and expose a bit of his automail. Hint, hint.] That's me. Same to you, then, general. Sorry if I don't shake.
[And he lowers his hand.] This is going to sound kind of weird, but... I think I've met him. Or someone like him, I guess. Could be hundreds of me out there for all I know.
no subject
He gave the boy a small smile in return and pulled his hand back to rest his arm against the table top for the moment, the other hand resting in his lap, still holding those papers.]
Well considering what brought us here should be impossible... and including some of the improbable things I've seen in this last year. I wouldn't doubt it any more. I don't know if it'll mean anything to you or not, but in the Amestris I'm from, you manage to get Alphonse his body back to normal and regain your arm.
[He paused for a moment then and with something of a more amused grin continued.]
You also end up growing another foot taller.
no subject
no subject
I'm sure you will, Fullmetal.
[He turns to put the papers up and then reaches into his coat pocket to pull a rather familiar looking pocket watch from it, one finger flicking it open to check the time.]
no subject
In all honesty, though? Thanks for letting me know about Al. It might not mean a lot for me, but I'm glad there's one world out there where I didn't screw up.
[And he turns to head back inside, because he's not really in the mood for reading by this point... then stops when the pocketwatch catches his eye.
Well, it's probably worth a shot.] Uh... hey, general? Is that your watch? I mean, your original one?
no subject
You're welcome and yes, this came from my world with me. I've had it for going on ten years now.
no subject
no subject
Provided I get it back in one piece and in the same condition it's in now. Yes, you can. Though, mind if I ask what happened to yours?
no subject
Oh yeah, you wouldn't remember. It's probably still somewhere in Liore. But, you know, no reason to carry proof of being a State Alchemist around if I'm not one of them any more, right?
no subject
You mean yours wasn't brought with you when you were brought here, I take it? Mind if I ask why you want to borrow mine?
no subject
no subject
After all, in his world, the pocket watch just a watch and in this world it has no actual meaning except to him and Ed, and no use other than to tell the time.]
I see. Just keep in mind, I do want it back in the same condition it's in now when you've finished with it.
[He extends the hand toward Ed's and lay's the watch down in it.]
When you're done with it, send me word and I'll meet you somewhere so you can give it back.
no subject
[He slips the watch into his pocket and starts to raise his arm out of habit... but no, he just told the guy he wasn't in the military any more, didn't he? For that matter, while they're both stuck here, neither is the general. In lieu of a salute, he bows quickly (doesn't hurt to be polite after getting something he wants, even if it is from Mustang), then runs back inside.
When he does return the watch, untouched, less than two hours later, he's totally going to look even grumpier than normal.]
no subject
Frowning a bit to herself she heads over, head held high and posture just the same. Though it's more from habit than trying to look bigger than she actually is.]
Now why would you be in this corner all by yourself?
no subject
Still, he's gotten to the point where he's decided to treat them like he'd treat any other human, since they were just as intelligent and often acted similar in nature for the most part.]
It's quiet over here and I didn't want to get in anyone's way.
