Chris 01: Library [action and bbs video]

[The video feed shows a young man about nineteen wearing a uniform and sitting in the library thoughful, and a bit unsure of himself.]

Excuse me. I'm new here, and I was wondering if someone could explain to me about para-magic? I have a couple classes about this topic. Where I come from, such things don't exist except in stories as far as I know so any information about this topic would be helpful. I'm Chris.

Later on, Chris is sitting on a bench somewhere in the lobby section. He looks a little worried about something but does his best not show iot on his face.

Sure! Don't worry about the confusion, it can be somewhat overwhelming. I checked out a book to understand it in my first weeks of classes.

Para-magic is a technological innovation that allows humans to manipulate energy in ways that recreate the effects of natural magic cast by enemies in combat. With the help of Guardian Forces, we draw the enemy's magical energy, take it into ourselves, and convert it back into a form where we can recreate a spell. If you don't need to cast it, you can also choose to store that absorbed energy long-term and use it to enhance your strength.

Does that help at all?

-Instructor Cranston, Engineering. Para-magic isn't exactly my forte!

Wow, that was a fantastic and accurate explanation!

Thank you. It's still an enormous relief to me that I passed those courses at all, so I do my best to assist whenever possible.

Being a new student was never easy.

Yes, para-magic can be pretty difficult, especially as a new student, but it's really quite fascinating!

That wasn't the word I used for it at first, but it really is a clever invention.

Any time. Do you need anything else while you're adjusting? I have some spare time this afternoon.

The classes themselves should explain what you want to know. I suggest you approach the instructors of what you are taking before you go to the first one and ask them to catch you up to speed.

You're assuming he hasn't asked already.

[ If he'd done so he probably wouldn't need to ask here, would he? But considering she was talking to the cadet who originally posted and not random interrupters, there's no actual reply. ]

[Tutors wouldn't be needed if instructors made everything simple to understand, right? Same concept here.

A shame she isn't going to reply.]

[Have a dog, Chris.

[Have a Jack Russell terrier in a pink capelet with a leash attached to his collar.

[Have a Jack Russell terrier sniffing at your foot curiously, because he has not seen this kid around before.]

[Boi barks in greeting, and next tries to sniff Chris' hand. He may even try to lick it, if the kid'll let him.

[They're close enough that Chris could probably read Boi's tag if he wanted to:
Boi in cursive on the front, SE as a monogram and B-Garden B107 in plain text underneath on the back.]

[Rinoa's on hr way to somewhere, when she sees a cadet sitting on a bench with an expression that reminds her of several of Squall's, because that man has several variations of line faces and almost line faces after all.]

[So she plops down onto the bench next to hi, all smiles and sunshine.]

You should really try to smile more, before you start draining this part of the lobby of light.

Don't worry about it.

[She continues to smile.]

You're new, right? So you've probably got a lot to think about, huh.
rebellingheart: <user name=gospelle site=livejournal.com> ([Happy] I'm amused & at your expense too)

[Action] Nope! Same age. She was 17 when she got here, but that was over two years ago.

[personal profile] rebellingheart 2012-07-03 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I know. I haven't seen you around before now. I'm Rinoa.

[She glanced down at the book and then stood too, if he was she might as well.]

If you need help with anything, just let me know.

[She places her hand in his, squeezing carefully.]

I'm actually from here, though I'm technically living in my own future somehow.

[She's still trying not to dwell on the fact that she's not seen or heard a single thing about her older self.]
