[Danny finishes the last question of his homework and shuts the book. He stands up and opens his door, walking next door to A110. He hesitates for a moment, but then he knocks.

Time to go try these 'popsicles'!]

[The minute Tom hears the knock, he goes ahead and opens the door for Danny.] Hey, come on in.

[He grins, gesturing for Danny to follow him inside. His dorm's pretty neat, save for the occasional jacket strewn on the floor and some of Sharpay's things on the table.] You know, if that was math homework, I could've helped you with it.

Oh, heh, it was history, actually. I understand what's going on in my math class...but, uh, thanks for the offer!

[Danny steps over the threshold into his room, then takes about three steps into the room itself, and stops. He stands straight as a rod and looks around a little bit at the room. He has no idea what to do now. What's the typical protocol for things-you-do-after-entering-someone's-room?]

No problem.

[Tom folds his arms, curiously glancing at Danny. Was his room actually messier than he thought? Tom tries to shrug it off by going over to the fridge and rummaging around for the box of popsicles.] So you said you've never had popsicles before... where're you from, exactly?

[gogoghostpowers]

Oh, uh, Wisconsin. It's a state in America. Well...heh, [Danny lays a hand on the back of his neck.] I don't even know if you have any of that in your world.

[werepanther]

Wait, seriously? [Grabbing the popsicle box out of the fridge, Tom opens it and sets it on the table.] I'm from America too.

Never heard of people from Wisconsin before in Garden, though - I think you'd be the first.

O-oh, really? Cool! I haven't met many other people from America here!

Well, I guess it makes sense, heh. It's a pretty big state, but there aren't that many people. It's a lot of open space, especially around where I live. It's mostly just forest.

[werepanther]

[He nods. It sounds like the Wisconsin from his world, anyhow...] Yeah, forest, the University of Wisconsin, and the Packers.

But you're not the only American. I'm from New York, my girlfriend's from New Mexico, I know a couple of kids from Jersey, and I think our secretary spent some time in California. But don't quote me on that one.

THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

A-and cheese. There's lots of cheese in Wisconsin.

But that's--wow! I didn't know there was anyone else from America here, but it sounds like there's actually a lot!

[Right. How could've Tom ever forgotten about the cheese...

He nods, picking out two popsicles. Taking the orange for himself, he offers Danny either the cherry or the gape.] It kind of fluctuates, I think. Compression makes it hard to tell who's from the US and who's not.

Or...if they're from the same US as everyone else. Right?

[It takes Danny a moment to realize that the popsicle is being offered to him. When he does, though, he takes the cherry popsicle and holds it in his hand.]

[Danny almost sniffs it, but then realizes that would be stupid. Frozen things rarely smell of much of anything. So instead he gives it a few experimental licks.]

Wow. I-it's like ice cream on a stick!

[werepanther]

Right.

[Tom tucks the grape popsicle back in the box before he starts licking on his orange one.]

No problem---

[Okay, Danny's reaction was really cute. Tom laughs:] Pretty much, yeah. Popsicles're just more fruit-flavored. Sooo... what do you think?

And a lot harder, too.

[Danny.

Danny, no. You're not allowed to say that while licking a popsicle.]

They're really great! You're right, I've never tasted fruit ice cream this...well, fruity, I guess. How come they aren't more common?

[werepanther]

[WAIT WHAT.

Tom gawks at Danny for a second before nervously coughing. That almost went down the wrong way...]

Uh. I've got no clue. Maybe because people like ice cream better?

Maybe... But...I don't really see why! This tastes so much fruitier--and that's good, right?

It's definitely a good thing. I'm not sure these're any healthier than ice cream, since they've both got a ton of sugar.

Well...it's not like they're worse than ice cream, right?

I wouldn't go that far, no.

Is there anything else you haven't had yet? [Now he's just curious.]

Oh...probably. I can't really think of anything, though. There's probably stuff I've never even heard of, so I wouldn't know about it anyway, heh.

[Tom's new mission: to teach Danny ALL the culinary things he can.]

Hmm... I'll have to remember that. But for now, you're totally entitled to all of my grape popsicles anytime you want some.

R-Really? Are you sure?

[This legitimately excites him.]

Definitely. It's not like I actually enjoy grape popsicles, man. They're all yours.

[SURE. Tom's not going to say no to someone who'll eat his least favorite popsicle flavor.]

It's really no problem, kid. Just knock before you come in, or ask me if I'm around, and we should be good to go.

Yeah! Definitely, I'll do that!

[He really is way too excited about this.]

[This kid's enthusiasm is contagious. Tom laughs, finishing off his popsicle. He's not really hungry for another one.]
