witchesreign | [Action] Pet combat demo (Slightly backdated, but only a day or two)

[Everyone around campus lately, fliers have gone up. What are they for? They're an advertisement for a pet combat demo since Rinoa promised Lea she'd give one before night classes started. It's a rather attractive poster and probably has a ton of puppies and kitties on it. False advertising? Probably not once you consider the pets owned by most of the people on Garden.]

[And today is the day for that demo! The fliers were around for a few days to give people notice about what's going on. So now Rinoa's getting all set up just inside the training center - with a little help from her furry assistants of course. That's right, this wouldn't be possible without help from Angelo and Julia! (They'll be getting a round of applause later naturally.)]

[For now people are more than welcome to come up and ask questions either: as she sets up, during the demo, or after the demo. Feel free to mark when the conversation takes place if you want. For some ideas on part of what will take place during this demo see this video here.]

Yeah, I'm amazed the Disciplinary Committee hasn't done anything about it. [Probably because they shrunk down to one member...

He snorts, partially because he can't be TOO mad at her.] Of course it would be. Kinda have to say, I wish I could've beaten the tar outta them.

[Hey this is the best her mood's been in ages, of course he'd have to be nice.]

You'd have to make it official or your SeeD rank's going to take a beating, but I doubt they'd agree to train with you somehow.

[It's obvious that she's been friends with too many hot headed people isn't it?]

Damn, I'd almost forgotten about that.

... But no, I'm seriously not interested in duking it out. I know it's weird, since I teach Boxing an' all, but I'd rather talk it out versus having our fists say everything.

I didn't think you were really serious.

Snow teaches Martial Arts, but I'm pretty sure he'd rather talk it out when possible too.

[He nods. He's seen Snow enough that it's a pretty apt description of the guy.

No longer distracted, he goes over and motions towards props to silently ask where things should go.] That's probably a better road, I think. Just because you can beat someone up doesn't mean you should.

[She answers him in the same way, pointing out where she wants to set things up.]

And yet people seem to have this weird idea that SeeD are all about war, fighting, and beating people up. I don't understand.

[He goes ahead and picks the props up. As he sets them gently in the boxes, he glances over at her:] Well, we are a military organization.

People assume we do what we're trained to do. It's stupid, but it's a reasonable assumption.

We're a mercenary organization. We're not a military.

[She's very firm about this, because she's not a big fan of militaries thanks to Galbadia.]

It's like you said. Just because we can fight doesn't mean we will and assuming that's all there is to us is silly.

Sorry. It's just all the same to me sometimes... [And here he does look slightly disgusted, though whether it's at his blunder or at the thought of mercenaries and militaries, it's not clear.]

Well, it's the assumption people made about the ex-military guy in my team. It was stupid, and it wasn't like him at all, but some of the younger kids thought so.

It's okay. Just a pet peeve you could say. [Stupid Damian with his stupid issues. Ugh.]

People should really get to know people before they judge them, because things aren't always how they seem.

Agreed.

[And now that everything's all packed up, Tom'll lift a couple of boxes before stacking another one on top of them. Super-strength is a wonderful, wonderful thing.] But look on the bright side: you'll be a fantastic teacher. And you'll get to join my grading parties with Shar.

[Rinoa's not about to argue with hi about that. Go ahead and carry most of the boxes like hired muscle, Tom. This works for her.]

Grading parties? That sounds exciting, how could I resist?

[If he's paying attention Tom might notice the way Rinoa casts a subtle float spell as she gathers up the last two boxes. That's right. She's using paramagic to cheat and make life easier in little ways. By now, Rinoa would probably be so lost without magic.]

I don't know... I think you might get bored of them after once or twice. [He laughs, adjusting the boxes slightly so that he can carry them more easily.]

But I'll have to tell Shar, I'm sure she'd love more company.

[He DOES notice, actually, but he doesn't say anything because he's used to using his powers for mundane, ordinary tasks. It comes with the territory!]

Then we'll just have to find a way to make them exciting again.

When doesn't she like company?

[She does too now that she's gotten more adapted at para-magic as a whole, it's pretty much a part of her every day life now. Even if she's still ignoring that whole sorceress thing pretty hard core again.]

[Heading back to her office now! Or what'll become her office anyhow; her spot's all but guaranteed in Tom's mind.]

You'd be surprised. Shar's pretty darn social, but she's got her moments every now and then...

[Tom, you're also the only person that notices.]

[More confident than Rinoa's feeling, that's for certain. Teaching is scary.]

Maybe, but it's really rare for her not to want to see either of us. Don't you think?

Yeah, just a little... but I also think everyone needs their space every now and then.

[He's quiet for a while, just trying to see above the boxes...] You know, if you ever wanna talk about the whole teaching thing, you can always ask me. I know that when I first started, it was more than a little nerve-wracking.

I don't think we spend that much time together that we need to worry about time apart just yet.
