[action] training center

[Cid was, in all truth and honesty, not an usual visitor to the training center. He took no real pleasure from killing the monsters here, as it tended to only remind him of the brand he bore; Cid far preferred other methods of training, methods that didn't involve magic and the like.

And yet, here he was.

The original plan had been to come here to fight and get his mind off of things, but that had failed rather spectacularly. Sure, Cid had taken out all the Grats that he had come across, but now that he had a T-rexaur standing before him, he felt like doing little more than keeping it dazed. All excitement vanished after the beast succumbed, and it was just a matter recasting the spell when necessary after that. Cid idly tossed a few ruins at the beast before becoming bored of even that and casting doom on it.

He sighed heavily as the spell slowly but surely counted down. His mind was clearly elsewhere.

Got it. [Tom raises an eyebrow - not that it's obvious - but assumes a fighting stance as he glances back at Cid.]

I... I uh, I'm probably not the best to say this, but you might be glad they're here later on. Not everyone's lucky enough to have people they know from back home at Garden too.

That makes sense. [Tom whistles, folding his arms as he watches the T-Rexaur fall like that.]

You've gotta teach me that spell sometime, man... it would've made my fights back home ten times easier.

Probably... especially since we didn't have monsters in my home world. [The realization hits him like a ton of bricks, especially since he's only just barely remembering that his enemies were all human. Granted, they brought some pretty bizarre companions that they killed, but... mostly human.] Nothing like these, anyways.
werepanther: (sorry 'bout that man)

[Tom fervently shakes his head.] Nothing feral like them. When we fought, it was always against other human beings... and if they have monsters with them? It's because they summoned them or created those beings themselves.

Though I did fight off a couple of demons once....

[Magic. Tom nods, though it takes him a moment to get the words out:] Not a lot like yours, but magic exists. My team had a couple of magic users over the years, but the ones that use it a bunch formed their own group called Shadowpact. I'm... kind of unfamiliar with it as a whole, sorry.

They wanted to make human sacrifices out of my Pops and me. [He laughs, though he doesn't seem very amused by the thought.] So I kind of beat them up the only way I knew how - through video games and hours of playing WoW.

[Hang on...] Your world had video games, right? Or something similar to that? Because that's pretty much what it was. Two demons summoned from god-knows-where and defeated by the power of... trusting too much in me.

clearly i fail at tagging on time ;;

That's probably because you weren't an addict like me. [He laughs, trying to figure out how to simplify this matter.] WoW was a video game I played back home when I was a kid... basically, you fought off demons a lot and learned how to kill them.

I never thought it was practical advice until demons came from beyond and tried to eat my dad. The demons thought I was on their side - cause I pretended to be - and then BAM! [He grins.] Demon Explosion and it's all over.

you are too kind to me ;;

Almost being the keyword. Somehow, you don't strike me as the kind of guy who'd spend hours with his X-Box. [He means this as a compliment too! Tom's just the kind of guy who could get addicted to anything if someone enabled him into it.]
