[action] training center
[Cid was, in all truth and honesty, not an usual visitor to the training center. He took no real pleasure from killing the monsters here, as it tended to only remind him of the brand he bore; Cid far preferred other methods of training, methods that didn't involve magic and the like.
And yet, here he was.
The original plan had been to come here to fight and get his mind off of things, but that had failed rather spectacularly. Sure, Cid had taken out all the Grats that he had come across, but now that he had a T-rexaur standing before him, he felt like doing little more than keeping it dazed. All excitement vanished after the beast succumbed, and it was just a matter recasting the spell when necessary after that. Cid idly tossed a few ruins at the beast before becoming bored of even that and casting doom on it.
He sighed heavily as the spell slowly but surely counted down. His mind was clearly elsewhere.]

[He dusts his hands off in satisfaction, picks up the sword he'd thrust into the ground, and then noticed Cid.]
Whoa! Thought that one was a little sleepy. Uh, didn't know it was yours...

It's no trouble. [Cid offers Jecht a wan smile.] It was my fault for not fighting it in earnest.

Tom's not even breaking a sweat as he motions for the T-Rexaur to bring it. To Cid, he grins:] What's up? You don't look so hot.

Tom, what a surprise to see you here. I was... [He chuckles and shakes his head.] ...I was lost in thought. Apologies.

But seriously. You sure you're okay?

to try and make them vote for her.[When she sees a T-Rexaur, she blasts a Blizzaga at it before she notices that it's kind of just standing there, and so is the person whose kill she may be sniping.
[Huh. There's the competition for Homecoming, not paying attention to the GIANT DINOSAUR at all.]
Earth to Raines! [She waves a hand.]
It's a-okay! :)
Evans? [He gives her an apologetic smile.] Apologies. I was lost in my thoughts.

[Even Sharpay wouldn't stoop to taking out the competition... Though she shoots Cid a bit of a smile, she does keep a wary eye on the T-Rexaur.]

Impressive battle magic.

He dips his head slightly in thanks.]
Impressive it may be, but it's something I'd rather not have. [A pause. He looks at her curiously.] I don't believe we've met before. Cid Raines.
[He extends his hand for a handshake. In the meantime, the beast in the background succumbs to doom and... falls over rather unceremoniously.]

Elika. A pleasure, Mr. Raines. If I may...isn't battle magic more convenient to have than otherwise? [ She looks pointedly at the T-Rexaur. ] Considering the variety of our opponents.

This is certainly a surprise.

And no, she does not look like a happy camper- she's tired, stressed, angry... and he has already gotten to the monster she'd been planning on taking out herself. Considering the somewhat unwieldy-looking, large-caliber rifle she's carrying with her, this is probably obvious - you don't usually hunt grats with a weapon that would very likely outright tear apart two or more of the things in one shot. ]

He throws another dazega on the beast before focusing his attention on her once more. His tone is painfully formal.]
Lieutenant.
no subject
Sir.
[ Painfully formal right back at him, though it's probably odd that she's still clinging to it despite the clear distrust and perhaps even hate that's contained in her stare and body language.
Odder still that although she definitely recognizes that upper-level daze spell there, if there are any ways to recognize a doom spell, she doesn't know them-- something that's strikingly unusual if you think about it, considering what she's supposed to do. Killing fellow l'Cie would be a lot more simple if she herself had access to that... though obviously, it's not like she's aware of the fact herself.
... Aside from that single word, she says nothing else though, just standing there with her chin down, gaze alternating between man and monster. ]

Several defeated beasties later Rygdea decides it's time to head back. And then he spots Cid Raines facing down a T-Rexaur.
He approaches the man, slapping him on the back.]
Need a hand?
no subject
Captain. I had not expected to see you here.
[He throws another dazega at the monster. There's no point in him hiding his abilities from Rygdea now, seeing as he'd clued the other in on his secret.]

He skids to a stop in a half crouch upon seeing a familiar face. The T-Rexaur looks really worse for wear.]
'Just what is he doing? Or not doing.'
[After a brief moment, Shadow stands up straight before addressing the other.]
Cid.
