[So what, exactly, is the internet? --For that matter, what exactly is a computer? Raidou has to ask for the librarian's help about five times, but he gets the browser up and running and figures out where to click in order to enter text into the BBS' update form. The keyboard is hard to navigate in a foreign language, and he has to peck at each key individually, but slow progress is progress nonetheless, and soon he has four sentences all typed out and posted.

The next step he has to take is to wrap his mind around the idea that multiple people can communicate with him at once; he's under the impression now that there's only one person on the "other side of the internet," and he should communicate with them much like you would if you were exchanging letters with a stranger.]

Oh, not at all. Just Luka is more than sufficient.

Is that so? That's rather unfortunate to hear – not that I'm polite, of course, but that there's such a stark contrast. I'm sure a lot of the other cadets don't mean anything by their ill manners, though. This is all simply a lot to adjust to, I suppose, and people may not be handling it all as well as they might. Still, I do think we all ought endeavour to welcome new arrivals as best we can, regardless of our circumstances.

I am indeed. I can't say that I've been here for too long, however; around a fortnight, in total.

Ah, Raidou? [ ] Hello. I'm Luka.

[As soon as Luka introduces herself, Raidou leaps out of his seat like he's been burned - and bows rather liberally, in hopes of making a good impression.]

Wonderful. I was worried I might have the wrong person. [ ] Shall we sit down? That way, you can show me what in particular you're having trouble with.

[As soon as she mentions "sit down," Raidou pulls another chair up next to his and motions toward it, indicating that she should sit. Ladies ought to be seated first, he believes.]

Ah, how kind. Thank you! [ ]

[A very small, very demure smile passes over Raidou's face as he seats himself; when it's gone and he's seated, he looks toward Luka and then points to the keyboard. That's his first problem: typing.]

Oh. You're having an issue with typing itself? [ ] Am I right in assuming that this sort of technology is all entirely new to you?

[He nods quickly, and then writes with a fountain pen on a piece of paper lying next to the computer. It's written quickly, but his handwriting is formal and the characters are well-drawn.]

Goodness. Then a comprehensive guide to sift through would be best, yes?

[Who has to take remedial English classes after school and on the weekends? This guy.]

Japanese, then? [ ] Although I'm certain finding a translation in some other language wouldn't be all that difficult.

[Raidou nods after she says Japanese, but he frowns slightly when he sees her touching the back of her neck - is it intentional, he wonders? But before she can see him, he averts his gaze.]

[ ] —excuse me. [ ]

[Now, Raidou doesn't know much about computers, but he's at least seen his classmates use them. This is entirely unprecedented, especially because it's a combination of humans and technology - weren't they supposed to be separate? No matter how much it surprises him, though, he has to stay calm and not overreact: there's nothing worse you can do to a lady than to make her feel alienated, so he keeps his face completely neutral as he writes another response.]
