[Action/Anywhere in the Garden] What is this off-day you speak off?
[Ronnae had attended all her classes, done all her assignments and then some, studied ahead for material that would be coming in the next couple of weeks and finished all the extra credit homework she had asked for.... She had taken on this load so she'd keep busy and wouldn't have to leave her dorm room... Which had been unusually quiet to be honest.
Now however, with lack of things to do, she found herself braving the Garden on a little personal tour. She might as well explore as much as she could while the halls weren't packed with people. You would find her anywhere and everywhere as she made her way through the areas that looked emptier, exploring as much as she could.]

[She pauses as they finally reach the Center proper, and the metal walkways go off further ahead into junglelike terrain.,]
...but there's nothing, nothing like seeing it all for myself. Wow.

You can imagine things from reading, and from looking at pictures of it, but once you're face to face with it, the feeling is much different.

[She shrugs. Ronnae gets the picture, right? She's almost vibrating with nervous energy as she looks about with quick, jerky motions, not at all sure what to expect.]

Hey, jus' relax kay? You've trained, you've read and you had been preparing yourself if you were standing in front of it thinking about it right? Now you're here and you have to keep your focus. Losing your focus can define the outcome of the battle, and generally not in your favor.
Besides, [she smiles.] I won't let anything bad happen kay?

[A grat bursts out of the foliage to lumber towards them. Maria nearly jumps out of her skin in surprise.]

I'm finally getting the hand of holding these at least.
[Her fingers are on the triggers, but locking mechanisms behind those triggers clearly prevent them from being pulled.]

[See, Maria's style, as taught to her over the course of, is fast and aggressive -- so as soon as she has her stance, and the grat is ambling towards her with intent to slay, she charges.]
[Those blades are balanced about at the grip, so they spin through the air much faster than they seem like they should. She smacks the grat with a backhand blow of her left-hand blade, twisting it to drag the edge along its body, then spins so her right-hand blade descends on it in a powerful blow. She darts backwards, kicking off the ground to twist back into her guard as she does. It's not a perfect landing; she stumbles a step before recovering[

She continued to look, just in case. In combat you never knew what might happen.]

[She's seen too many lose a battle due to a loss of concentration after a surprising attack. It'd be a pity if the girl gained more damage due to the same. But if things got ugly, she'd step in, even if she was fairly confident the girl could handle herself.]

[Rather than break her concentration, the injury just seems to piss her off! As soon as she has her footing again, she all but jumps back at the grat. It whips at her again, but by luck she's gotten inside its most effective range, so the feeler smacks her on the shoulder as she brings her right blade into hammer it, then yanks it roughly out of the grat's body on a new path. At the same time her other weapon spins around to catch it full-force near the thick base of the blade.]
[Again she jumps back, but the injured grat doesn't pursue her. She's breathing hard from adrenaline and excitement now, a wild glee in her eyes.]

OH NO YOU DON'T!
[Maria makes a rather impressive bound to nail the grat to the floor by transfixing it with a gunblade. Then she grabs her other weapon in a two-handed overlapping grip and beats the holy hell out of that grat till it collapses<.i>.]
[Panting, she yanks the weapons out of it, turns, and nearly jumps out of her skin for the second time when she notices Ronnae standing there.]

[Ronnae smiles, crosses her arms and raises a brow. It was less of a negative question and more about how amused she was that the girl reminded her of some warriors back home.]

[She's grinning like she's just conquered a country singlehanded. The pain from her injury has yet to register through the adrenaline.]
Let's go find more! That was great!
no subject
Not before we get that treated. You never know when you'll have a chance or whether it might be the turning point in a fight.
[With that, Ronnae produced a small healing kit. She mended the wound, took the proper care and bandaged it up.]
There ya go, now you can go conquer more monsters~

Are you working on battlefield medicine, then?

That's pretty good. I should move that up on my class list. Didn't expect it to whip around like that.
