valentine's day dance!

[Night has fallen on Balamb Garden; the halls of Garden are mostly deserted besides the stray student walking about, and even the usual faculty members are missing from their posts around the school. There's a certain festive energy through the air, the source coming from the Ballroom cheerily decorated located on the second floor.

At exactly 2100, as soon as the dinner rush ends, the Garden chime sounds and the intercom clicks on. The Headmaster speaks to the Garden.
]

The Valentine's Day dance is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom.

I repeat, the Valentine's Day dance is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom. The dance will run until 2400. Students leaving the ball after curfew are to return to their dorms immediately.

The dance and its festivities tonight are being sponsored very generously by the Garden Festival Committee.

[After the announcement, the intercom falls silent. The faint sound of music can be heard from the second floor of the building.]

( Mod note: You may participate in the dance in comments to this post, or opt to make your own new post/log.

The dance isn't mandatory, so students that choose not to attend won't be punished. The Headmaster, Garden faculty and even some of the instructors are all present at the dance, so troublemakers are free to roam until 2400. The dance itself will last from 2100-2400 in the second floor ballroom and the music will be the same kind of upbeat peppy orchestrated pieces that the game used. Caterers will roam offering drinks and refreshments to attendants, as well a stationary stand for punch and food is offered.

Should players have any questions left unanswered feel free to ping the mods on AIM or via PM. )

Best to protect them where possible, yes, but it cannot be expected of us to hold their hand through everything. We do what we can, as their mentor, their instructor, as their guardians.

[Edea looks over to the punch bowl.]

If the punch really has been spiked, why has no one discarded it for a fresh serving, then?

Of course not, Mrs. Kramer. They are young but still capable of making decisions. It's merely our duty to help them learn to make good decisions. And in this case, I believe it's my duty to protect them from bad decisions their older peers might make.

[Byakuya pauses.]

It has not been spiked - I am watching it to prevent someone from doing so.

Please-- Edea is fine. [Offers him a smile before looking off to where some of their junior cadets are.]

And should you take on the duty to protect them from each and every bad decision their older peers may make, you should be prepared to commit yourself to protecting them from the horrors that lay beyond these walls, Instructor Kuchiki. At all times.

[Duty. Protection. Those words resonate with him.]

Mrs...[He has to pause to correct himself. It seems too informal to him, but she has requested to be called by her first name.] --my apologies. Edea.

Before I came here, I was part of a military called the Gotei Thirteen...which roughly translates to the Thirteen Protection Squads. In each of those thirteen squads, there were seated officers responsible for smaller squads of unseated officers, and a captain and a vice-captain responsible for every officer in that squad. I was the captain of the sixth division.

I am always prepared for the duty of protecting others.

Then I am glad you understand, Instructor Kuchiki.

[She can tell he's a very formal person, all about titles. She respects that, and him.]
