[Have a perplexed, out of place Ryu. His attention is on a piece of paper in his hands, trying to make heads or tails of the situation at hand. The whole school thing was new to him, as, hey, farming communities don't really need education, they just need able bodies and sharp tools. Granted, he was deeper in the woods away from them, but it all fit together either way. He hadn't even begun exploring the school, let alone his own room. Any passerbys might notice a fishing pole leaning against the railing of the main walkway. It looked just like his clothing, in that it had seen a lot of time on the road.]

...Out of the frying pan, and into the fire, I guess.

You find a lot of strange places with stranger names when you're a drifter. I haven't settled somewhere in years.

[The way he spoke about it made him sound a lot older and more well-traveled than he looked.]

Even so, I haven't seen anything that compared to this place. It's massive, probably even bigger than the city of Wyndia.

Heh, sounds familiar.

It's a pretty big garden yeah. I can't quite say it's bigger than my Pops' ships, but it is huge.

For a garden, there aren't many flowers.

[Now Ryu was a little curious, may as well see what other places are like.]

Are there a lot of ships where you come from?

Heh. Well it is a big more like a school.

Yeah, my world is mostly ocean so most everyone uses ships to get around, eh.

I've never seen the inside of a school, to be honest. Although I doubt any of the ones back home were as grand as this.

So many differences... There are only two ships where I come from; The guild's ship in Rhapala, and the Black Ship.

Well, me neither. But I've heard a lot about academy campuses.

... That... I can't even picture. My crew alone had five primary ships and then we each had bunch of smaller personal ones for missions and stuff, eh.

It must be nice to go out onto the ocean. I bet the farther you go out, the bigger fish can get, right? I mean... I've caught a few whales with my pole, but I never tried while on a ship.

You caught whales on a pole? Must be smaller whales than in my world.

And seakings all over the Grand Line. The Calm Belts are their breeding grounds so they venture into the Grand Line to feed.

[Motioning to the fishing pole next to him. It didn't look remarkable in any sense of the word.] Yeah, with that. What are the seakings like?

Bigger than a ship, they like to eat ships. Hell. The caravels are about as big as a tooth from them. Even the babies can usually eat a ship for breakfast unless of course, there's protection on board.

[He pauses for a moment, trying to process their size against the Black Ship. His reaction is one of almost glee, an ear to ear smile pops up on his face.]

I hope I'll get the chance to catch one someday.

You'd have to go to my world to do it. I haven't seen any here, eh.

Well, who knows where we could end up after being pulled here? It sounds like a great challenge.

Heh. Well, if you do show up there, trying to catch a seaking might not be your largest concern.

Hm? I don't imagine many other people would try to bother me outside of my hair.

[Why yes, he had noticed he was getting some odd looks.]

Your hair would be considered more on the normal side where I'm from.

Really? Your world sounds like a fascinating place. Covered in water, fish the size of ships? I wouldn't mind checking it out.

It's got its moments in any case.

[And then it hits him. Social graces aren't his forte.]

I should introduce myself, huh? I'm Ryu.

Marco. I've been here about 4 months, eh.

How do you like it here? I mean, home is always home, but... I'd prefer to know what I'm in for.

I never got to go to school. I'm self-taught, a pirate. So it's actually nice to be able to have to the opportunity. The classes are pretty challenging, but I prefer that, since I'd get bored otherwise without my family to protect.

You and me both. I grew up in Cedar Woods with my two brothers, Rei and Teepo. If it wasn't for them, I'd probably be cur chow right now.

[Marco's remark about family causes him to smirk.]

You sound like someone I could respect, Marco.

What's what's a cure, and why would it eat you?

It's a type of animal. Not quite a wolf, and their saliva can be poisonous. Rei found me in the woods, not a scrap of clothing on me, and two of those things thinking I was the tastiest meal in the woods.
