001 [Action] Lobby!

[Have a perplexed, out of place Ryu.  His attention is on a piece of paper in his hands, trying to make heads or tails of the situation at hand.  The whole school thing was new to him, as, hey, farming communities don't really need education, they just need able bodies and sharp tools.  Granted, he was deeper in the woods away from them, but it all fit together either way.  He hadn't even begun exploring the school, let alone his own room.  Any passerbys might notice a fishing pole leaning against the railing of the main walkway.  It looked just like his clothing, in that it had seen a lot of time on the road.]

...Out of the frying pan, and into the fire, I guess.

That obvious, huh? [He looked up at the newcomer with a sheepish smile.]

I've never seen a place this big, it makes a castle seem like my old home. I'm afraid I'm a bit lost.

You are distinct, yes. As is the size of this place.

[No smiling from Oswald, unfortunately. He hasn't quite settled into a glare yet, though; probably because that fishing pole still looks flat out bizarre to him. Enough that he has no problem with completely changing subjects.]

...And what is the purpose of that?

[He's still staring right at the object, and hasn't really taken his eyes off it.]

This? [Ryu follows his gaze and motions with one hand to make sure he meant the rod.] I fish in my spare time. It's relaxing.

[Oswald should try it sometime. :|]

"...I don't understand."

[Oswald? Relaxing? That's like commanding him to fly!

Well, that and growing up in a build-a-city-in-a-forest nation that has no fishing industry to speak of.]

"The only purpose it has is to be...Relaxing? There's nothing else practical about it?"

Well, sometimes you can eat what you catch.

[Ryu's look is something of disbelief and confusion.]

The way you talk about it makes it sound like you never tried fishing before. I might have to fix this.

['...Hold a moment.' Oswald's expression practically says that for him; he looks incredulous, curious...And a bit paranoid in equal turns. The idea of eating food for fuel has some appeal, though.]

"...What would that entail?"

You and I take some fishing poles, find a nice sunny spot, and fish? [From the way Ryu responded, his tone was one of almost a question, like he was subtly asking "What else would we do to go fishing, milk a cow?"]

[For all Oswald knows, or cares, about food, fish could come from cows. Just like how sheep come from plants.

His look deepens into a scowl from that tone, though.]

"Fair enough. What does sun have to do with it, though? Are fish attracted to such a thing, or it makes catching them easier?"

The sun... feels nice? [The more he talks to Oswald, the more baffling he seems...]

If an angler is good enough, they can catch fish in any condition.

[The feeling is mutual. For the life of him, Oswald can't wrap his head around why being comfortable or relaxed is such an important thing.]

"Explaining this does not appear to be working. I think that perhaps a demonstration would serve better."

I'm afraid that will have to wait, I don't know my way around the school yet, let alone the local fishing spots.
