Mitsuru 005 // [BBS]

Doubtless several of us have read the newsletter at this point. And while the news between Galbadia and Esthar is disquieting (we will ignore some of the other articles) I feel that we 'off-worlders' should also put some attention towards the rumors of our school harboring Sorceresses.

A significant number of us possess abilities that cannot be conventionally explained, either via science or this world's system of magic. And while it would be prudent to keep them low key to avoid attention, letting them go to waste or become unpolished through lack of training or by being overly cautious is also not an option.

Are there suggestions on how to find a middle ground to all of this? I personally have no interest in being powerless by refusing to take action, either in the event of a war, or a witch hunt by less accepting sorts.

I'm surprised no one's realized how sexist it is to accuse female otherworlders with whatever powers of being evil, but not the guys.

For all they know I could be lurking as a sorceress in disguise as a guy.

It's not that hard to only use these abilities on the Garden, quiet places to practice are abundant here. Only in idiocy would one use them out in public where the wandering native can throw a hissy fit, which is what happened.

I think the girl who decided it would be wise to have a little water display should be punished as a lesson to the others who want negative attention brought onto this place.

I don't see why not. Paranoia is paranoia. If they're so weak that they have to fear anything they don't understand, then they deserve to suffer the consequences of it. A giant can look intimidating from the size, but a virus is so small it's nearly invisible and yet also far more deadly.

I try to think how other people would react if I summoned Shiva or Quetzalcoatl and I was in a world that didn't understand what a Guardian Force was. I don't think it's bad, it's just different. Not every world works the same way, right?

I don't know why people can't just think of it that way.

I doubt native people will come to terms with anything they are uncertain of when it comes to our powers. Humans fear the unknown and will lash out. If those talking heads can't even find a middle ground, what chance do we have?

I foresee that only a clash between gardens will resolve anything. Not so surprising, actually.

Thank you for being so equal opportunity, darling.

I just think it's crazy.

If I was a sorceress and created the Time Compression that brought us all here, I wouldn't be using infinite powers to draw attention from idiots who want to stone me. I'd pretend to be Squall and go kill everyone who annoyed me.

Just saying.

[All too casual and deadpan about the ideas involved.]

I've been reading a few books about those sorceresses, and most, if not all, are female. There is one exception though: Hyne. He's the only male one known to humans, and there hasn't been another male one since him.

It'd be a miracle if one would pop up suddenly. They would more than likely be worshiped than stoned.

Now that is sexism at its best. Or worst. Depends on your perspective.

Precisely my point. It makes very little sense. Except where women are innately more dangerous, but I'd like to think my gender isn't that incompetent all told.

I've always been a fan of the physical punishments myself. They seem to get a point across that other more simple punishments like scrubbing a toilet or sitting in a corner do not.

Humans make very little sense, save for a few. The things they'd do to get ahead in life...the sacrifices...| [Grell paused before typing again. No need to go down memory lane right now.]

Most see women as volatile creatures anyway, and with the behavior of those sorceresses, that opinion hasn't been unjustified. I, personally, like being feared!

If it counts for anything, I don't think that of you at all. I can't say the same for a lot of other men though.

Fair enough. Those that would sacrifice everything worth having just for power deserve only the worst.

Thanks kitten. I'm flattered.

First of all, vetoing on so many grounds. I highly doubt the Headmaster or even Commander Squall are about to start allowing that.

And secondly, your opinion is rejected on the basis of hating waterbenders.

It would be nice if we could invite some visitors from the other gardens, so they can see that we're not so different from them, and not all of us are to be feared.

Most sacrifice something or someone because they can. [If only you could see his not-so-happy face.]

Anytime~.

That's an even worse reason. [Given that Marco's off on a "DIE BLACKBEARD" vein... likewise.]

I think something like that is called for. And now that you've brought it up, it's starting to sound like a good idea.

Is there not one established here? I'd like to be part of it, but with my time in the GFC and classes starting soon, I'm not sure if I can be much help.
