[At 0900 hours, the announcement bell chimes and once again a voice much more youthful than the Headmaster's begins to speak.]

Good morning, inhabitants of Balamb Garden! This is your pilot Nida speaking. Now that we're docked in Dollet, it's time to get our vacation on! That's right - everyone's free to leave Garden and stretch their legs. Hyne knows I will! [He sounds so eager and can't help but give a little laugh.]

Please remember to stay safe while exploring and don't go getting into too much trouble! Oh! I forgot - curfew. I know I know. Not something you want to hear, s-sorry! Anyways. About that curfew. Good news! All cadets are given an extra half-hour in which they must return to Garden for the remainder of the night. Instead of having to check in at 2300 hours, curfew for this week is 2330 hours.

Don't worry though. We'll be here all week! Plenty of time to sight see and whatever else you want to get done.

[The announcement ends, and the intercom clicks off.]

Students are free to roam around the city or keep within Garden if they so desire. The second term will start August 1st-- until then, it's vacation time!

Let's see...

[ Chie recalls the brief summoning she saw earlier. The one detail she could pinpoint is that Mitsuru didn't seem to manifest a card and hit like she and her own group did. Maybe that was the problem? Every time she broke her card, it felt the same as kicking down a mental door in her head, and out came her Persona. So... ]

Actually, I think I should show you how I summon mine...

[ Chie takes several steps away from the fountain and Mitsuru and inhales for a moment, hands removing themselves from their pockets and her feet settling into a stance. She concentrates, envisioning that card flowing down into her vision, a glow forming around her, and she snaps her eyes open. ]

Now! Suzuka Gongen!

[ Chie's body twists as she kicks the card into oblivion, and out comes her Persona, more solid and staying perfectly where it is above Chie's head and not moving since Chie didn't really have a specific order for her Persona to do. ]

[Mitsuru gets up the moment it looks like Satonaka is preparing to summon. There's a moment where her eyes widen, as she thinks she sees something appear in front of the girl for a moment. Spectral, blue, almost like the shards that used to fly out of her head when she used her Evoker.

That spectacle doesn't compete with what takes its place, however. Mitsuru watches as the Persona floats, steady and unwavering. And the new manifestation doesn't slip by Artemisia, either. She can feel that pressure starting to build up in her head, like before with Terra in the Fire Cavern.

Although thankfully, this time Mitsuru doesn't feel like she's about to pass out, even if her thoughts feel like they slow down for a moment. Artemisia flickers above Mitsuru, once again fading in for a moment before blinking out entirely again.]

[ Chie scratches the back of her head in almost embarrassment. She doesn't usually... do this to show others, and she's almost afraid someone might come around the corner and see them, but helping Mitsuru out is more important. ]

Huh. It's gone again... The way I did it is envision a card in my head. Then I kick it. Well, I know other people have destroyed the card and summoned their Personas, so maybe you can try that out?

"Destroying something...?"

[She doesn't say that with any disapproval or judgement in her voice. Rather, something about that concept resonates in her mind; is it really so different from sweeping barriers aside by temporarily killing your conscious mind?]

"I would like to attempt something like that...Give me a moment, if you please."

[She says that before shutting her eyes, and focusing inward. In her mind's eye, Mitsuru tries to visualize her thoughts as that flicker of a card, focusing on it-

And then letting it shatter, like ice breaking up and falling apart.

For a moment, she's disappointed when she feels nothing. That lasts right until a breath of cold air suddenly washes through her with a jolt, and drops the temperature in their little side street by several degrees. Her legs suddenly go shaky, and when she opens her eyes Mitsuru catches another flicker as Artemisia appears -looking just a little more solid- before vanishing again.

And then suddenly sitting down feels like a very good idea, and the ground makes as good a spot as any.]

Whoa! Hey, are you all right?

[ Chie immediately goes to her side, Suzuka Gongen disappearing in a flash as her concentration moves towards Mitsuru. She kneels beside Mitsuru and looks her over. ]

What happened? How do you feel?

"That..."

[It's embarrassing, how slow Mitsuru's words come to her.]

"That...Was unexpected. But I'll be fine."

[Then she sets herself to measuring up to that claim. Mitsuru forces in a deep breath, starts to get up-

And her legs lock up on her, and refuse to let her rise.]

"I...Just need to catch my breath, is all."

[ Chie's face mirrors her worry and almost guilt since she suggested this. ]

You sure? I guess this was your first time, huh?

"I'm certain."

[At least she can sound confident, even if she doesn't look the part.]

"That method...It did show a result, but it's not what I'm used to. I-"

[Her breath comes out in a cloud of cold, and it feels like her mind shudders along with it.]

"...I only need a moment. That's all."

... All right.

[ Chie stands up and looks at the now frozen fountain, then looks back to Mitsuru. She wonders about the reason why the red-haired woman's feeling this. Sure, she felt a little woozy after summoning her Persona for the first time, but... ]

Um, so how's that Evoker work?

"Rather similar in concept to that card; it's an object used to temporarily wipe out one's higher mind in order access the Persona."

[She'll at least try to hold onto some dignity, and starts to pull herself up by the lip of the fountain. Better to sit on the stone circling it instead of the ground.]

"I surmise that we...Or I might be a bit more dependent on the object then the others. I haven't seen them in as much difficulty."

[ Chie decides to be a bit bolder and hold onto Mitsuru's arm and help her up while listening to Mitsuru's explanation. ]

So, wait. There are more people you know that use Personas?

"Six people, currently."

[She frowns when Satonaka puts a hand on her, but doesn't move to shake it off; her dignity would hurt a lot more if she fell back down because she refused help. As it is, though, she moves a little faster, in order to get in a position where she won't need any assistance.]

"...As well as one android, and one canine. Neither of which are present here. At the moment, there is only myself, Arisato, and Amada attending Garden."

[ Blinks as she lets go of Mitsuru and steps back. ]

Ken-kun can use a Persona? Whoa. [ The possibility never crossed her mind when she talked to him. And a canine? And android, too? Well, on her side, she did have Teddie, so maybe it isn't so much of a stretch that Personas can extend to further realms of users. ]
