First Brew [Action] / W e l p, that's a panda.

[To say that all this was interesting to Lihau would be quite an understatement. Frankly, while dimension hopping wasn't entirely a new thing to her -- hello, Outlands! -- being thrust into it involuntarily while trying to find the bathroom after a night of getting drunk was. At least she had avoided peeing in anyone's flowerpots, but coming here to Garden had taken her a bit.

As it was, there was quite a lot she had not understood, it seemed...]



[Early in the day, Lihau can be found in the library nearly hidden amongst a truly worship-worthy few towers of books on the desk around her, thumbing through a mix of her course catalog and some random book from said library. Her concentration on such is quite intense, and she seems to be writing down notes on random scraps of paper she likely found just around.]


[Around mid-day, Lihau can be found in the Training Center, though it seems more for the general idea of the area. Rather than going out of her way to fight the Grats, she appears to be going through motions and strikes against thin air that are very similar to martial arts style practices, for those who have seen it before. Once or twice, a Grat will make the mistake of getting too close, and it's often dispatched fairly quickly before she returns to her flowing, cycled motions.

And if THAT doesn't catch your eye, the small kegs hanging from her waist might.]


[And finally, a short time before curfew, Lihau is knocking on the door to the Commander's office, having asked around and been told to talk to this lady over a certain problem...]

[Greed, with a flair for the (melo)dramatic, is casually watching from the branch of a tree, leaning on the trunk with a cocked arm and grinning.]

Sorry if I'm guessing wrong, but you're not a chimera, are you?

[Lihau's practicing doesn't so much as stutter as she addresses Greed, though she does flash up a smile towards him.]

Oh no, not at all. You must have strange chimeras here to mistake me for one.

Where I come from, all chimeras are strange, since they're not supposed to exist. But as far as I know, they're as close as we get to what I'm seeing here.

[Really, the ones she's seen are natural and just animals, so she doesn't sound as sharp about it as she could... but still confused.]

Far as anybody knows, they can't be made. Not talking, smart ones, anyway. It's a lie, of course, same as a lot of things.

You know a way to fuse two creatures together without alchemy?

Alchemy from my home deals with the creation of potions and turning different metals into others, not any sort of manipulation or fusing.

[She glances up at him. Hmmm.]

Are you interested in my style? I could attempt to teach you a few of these strikes.

[He hops lightly down, long coat flaring as he lands. It's on the tip of his tongue to laugh at her offer, because it's not his style at all --]

[Why not, Greed? Don't tell me wanting everything doesn't extend to knowledge, too?]

[I'm not stupid, kid. You're just trying to polish the stuff you know from Xing.]

The Commander's office

[The Commander looks up from her work at the knock.]

[Lihau enters the office, stopping to put her feet together and bow -- it's more comfortable to her than a salute right now.]

Commander Zabala. I was told I needed to come speak with you about an important matter.

[Who else could it possibly be?]

Forgive me if this sounds a strange request, but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to take over a spare room in Garden for the purposes of brewing.

As I am an outsider, I understand this may be confusing, so please, allow me to explain. My fighting style is a bare-palmed martial arts mixed with using various brews I can create and the effect of intoxication on my body while remaining completely aware of myself.

[Lihau launches into a simplified explanation of Brewmasters as well as a couple of her different types of brews.]

I am certain I can handle the ingredients and tools myself, but doing so from my room or outside would allow those not of proper age to easily access it.

[She frowns slightly, but continues.]

I can still battle without my brews, but I am much less effective doing so. Most of my training has gone into working alongside the special effects of my beer and fighting after drinking.

As I hope you can understand, I would much prefer being able to use them.

[She listens to the explanation, setting aside as much of her skepticism as is humanly possible in the face of a talking panda wishing to get drunk in order to fight better.]

[At the end of it, she leans back in her chair, considers, then nods slowly.]

Allocation of Garden space is up to the Headmaster, not myself, but I could certainly put the request to him in terms of combat resources.

I would also be more than happy to brew side batches for pleasure for those of Garden who can drink. It is a good way to celebrate or relax after a strong battle.

I'm not certain I ought to be encouraging that. [But Zabala says it with a smile.]

I will recommend the space allocation, but for actual materials and supplies you'll need to go through the Headmaster in any case.

[She chuckles cheerfully, bowing again.]

Thank you. Is there any specific thing I must do in order to speak with the Headmaster? I am grateful for being accepted and do not wish to cause any undue trouble.

You should be all right. Make an appointment with his secretary, I have no doubt he'll find time for you.

[Suddenly, there's a gentle tap on... well, probably slightly below Lihau's shoulder.]

Hey there!

[Osaka beams good-naturedly. In her other hand, she's clutching several similar scraps of paper, all apparently blank.]

[Lihau blinks a little, pulled out of her concentration. She glances around, noting Osaka after a moment and turning around with a smile.]

Oh, hello! Who are you?

Well, I just saw you writing on all those little pieces of paper instead of a real page, and it looked like you were gonna run out of them soon, so I thought maybe you'd want a few more. [She proffers them happily. Through a couple of them, the outline of some suspiciously textbook-like printed writing is visible...]

[Her eyes sparkle a little at that, and if she notices the outline she doesn't point it out, taking them.]

Yeah, that's what I was thinking! That's why, when I tore them out, I tried to make them a little bigger than those ones you've got there.
