corruptedsouls: ([JM] Hush child)

[Tobias has mostly been keeping to himself, his studies, and his family lately. With everything that's happened, he's really just wanted to introvert for a bit -- at least as much as he can with the people he cares about. But all this time, a question has been nagging at him. Bothering him. He's certainly not the naive child he was before, but some things he simply can't seem to understand.

Which is why he's turned to Garden for help.]

What makes a bad person "bad?" Is it when they hurt someone? Or destroy something? Or is just thinking about doing that enough to be bad?

And... why do bad people do those bad things?

[And yet, amidst this, there's something else on his mind.]

[PM to Marco]

Hey Dad? Why don't you and Mom have an egg?

So you're okay now? Anymore questions?

[Ruffle ruffle.]

Generally, they end up in police custody, go to trial, and are sentenced according to their crimes. Could be a period of unpaid work, they could be imprisoned for a certain length of time, or they might just have to pay a fine. Depends what they did.

If they keep causing harm to innocent people, then I will keep fighting to stop them.

[Grell is sitting on her bed, sharpening a dagger while humming a rather cheerful tune. There's a cat on her lap, another curled up on her bed, and a large chocobo nestled in a warm spot by the window.

Lark, the chocobo, quirks its head a bit at Toby's presence at the open door, which grabs Grell's attention. She gets pretty into keeping her toys nice and sharp.]

Hi, my precious~! [She puts away her weapon and pats a spot next to her on the bed. She's sitting on it in a way that her legs are not dangling off the side, but are straight] Come, come! Tell me who dares to bother you!

[So she can KILL THEM.]
redcinemareel: (Grell: Hmm?)

[The smile that was in Grell's face fades away, and a look of confusion and concern takes its place. She turns to him, crossing her legs in front of her, to give him her undivided attention. Meanwhile, the cat Toby was petting gets displaced and goes to sit next to him.]

What in particular is bothering you, hmm?

You haven't, but I never was one to pry you for information. [Such a tender mind he had. Or perhaps still has.] Are you going to divulge that tale to me?
redcinemareel: (Grell: Solemn)

Damn buttons.

[Grell listened to his story quietly, watching Toby's body language. She was surprised that such a thing happened. When humans kill, she knows how it can taint a soul. The intensity of that taint depends on the motivations of the human. More than likely, Toby's soul wouldn't be too badly affected.

His mind, however, is a different story.

Stroking his hair gently, Grell comforts him. The cats found another place to rest, while Lark simply snoozes.]

It was an accident. You can't blame yourself for what occurred.

I never said it wasn't your fault. But it was not intentional. I'm sure he knows that. [She sighs, rubbing his back gently.] Truth be told, I couldn't blame you for reacting that way. Once burned, twice shy and such.

Really, it would depend on the circumstances. It's different for things like accidents, loss of control, self-defense and such, but generally? Setting out to deliberately and maliciously take someone's life away would get someone life imprisonment.
