[ All week long he has the same schedule. For his weapons class, he would offer advice and show higher stances, working with the students in how to move with instead of fight against the momentum of their weapons. The obstacle was set up with the idea of not losing their weapons while running, dodging and crawling through the different terrains available, and then set the students to clean their weapons while on a cool down march. He next sets them up against each other and the ones that were too good or too over confident he would take on, correcting their moves and egos by precise application of bruises and gentle chiding.

For Philosophy, he speaks a lot about the different theories, waxing at length about the mind and how impulses drive the body and vice verses. When his accent grows too thick, or he cannot find the proper word, he switches to Japanese, which sometimes leads to an explanation of how different words are even in languages and applies it to the governing thought of the moment. It's a chaotic class, jumping from thought to thought, but he seems to enjoy the discussions, especially when someone brings up a new word or a new idea.

After classes and the paperwork generated by them - forms for medical treatments, forms over homework, and forms he thinks they just got tossed into the mix to make sure he's paying attention - Yoshi heads for the library to browse the books and take out a bunch written in a language he can understand better. If the book is interesting enough, he will start reading it as he walks along the campus on the way to the cafeteria or the Quad.

Weekends often had him spending time in the Training Center. If asked, he will take a student or two outside to fight random monsters. Of course, that is if the students were good with all their classes at the time. Extra training sessions can be gained, and he is always up for a spar with other instructors. ]

[Champloo, on his eternal quest to feed as well as educate Garden, is the sort to appear without warning, to spout sage advice, provide help, or offer support in the form of nutrition. Today it's the latter -- as the temperature outside continues to drop, the Home Ec instructor cheerfully pops out of seemingly nowhere, offering Yoshi a bowl of piping-hot miso soup, into which the demon has, as usual, put his heart and soul into the preparation of.]

[ He just will blink for a moment at the strange man before accepting the soup. ]

[ The miso did smell good; he takes a moment to try some, humming in appreciation of the flavors. ]

I am just a simple villager. [ Never mind that he carries his swords like a nobleman. Yoshi spent most of his years inside a dojo and then with the monks. He did not consider himself part of any great family as his father claimed. ]

I like good food. And sake.

You wouldn't! That is why I would not complain! Your answer is thick with the syrup of wisdom. To favor 'good food' over a specific dish is to appreciate cooking for what it is, rather than what it produces.

Food should be savored and one should not be afraid to try something new. That is what makes it interesting when one is traveling.

Most people seem to always have a favorite dish. I know I like spicy food, but I do not favor one over the other. That would only grow dull.

Then I will take delight in proving you with food to sample! Though perhaps you will find Netherworld recipes slightly too spicy even for you, boom!

I cannot know that until I try them. [ A slight nod in thanks at the offer. While he did like spicy foods, somethings can probably be too spicy but Yoshi always refrained from saying so until he least tastes it. ]

Are you the school's cook?

Home Ec? That is a good class or so I have heard. People do need practical skills on top of fighting skills if they wish to live in the world.

[ He has no patience for that kind of life. Yoshi wasn't one who could be content with cooking, repairing or cleaning anything being both restless in nature and a lordling's son. His upbringing made him less likely to know his way around a kitchen than he knew his away around a dojo. ]

Instructor Pinkie Pie is the other Home Ec. teacher. Naturally, I recommend my own class, but you cannot go wrong with hers either!

Ah, I see. Do you two collaborate on your classes?

Pinkie Pie favors an approach which factors in all aspects of the class syllabus. I, however, focus on the fine discipline of cooking! In that sense alone we could be considered rivals!

It's not often I see many people reading the Old Shumi books. [There are almost audible quotation marks on 'Old Shumi': This world's older languages being equivalents of languages on his own world bemuses him.] Especially this quarter [given LAN 101 is teaching Old Estharian now]. But I do wish the selection was bigger.

I suppose they did not have very many people willing to search for such things in their travels. [ He has heard some remarks about how hard it was to learn the language from a couple passing students. It made sense in a way, but Yoshi wished there were more. Some of the volumes he had read almost matched tales from home, and he missed reading and hearing his own tongue. ]

Do you read Old Shumi?

[Touma smiles though I have no icons for this because I am waiting to renew my paid whoops, switching into Japanese.] Japanese, as Old Shumi's known as on my world, is one of my native languages.

[ Oh that he warms up to. It's been years since he has spoken his native tongue except with his niece and his uncle. ]

It is mine as well. Where do you come from?

Yokohama. [More or less. He hasn't looked into his early childhood, before Austria, before his mother died. But he's spent the longest mostly continuous time there.] And you?

Okinawa. [ His family was from a small village, although the family held some importance tot eh region, it was not considered big or even important by the standards of the larger cities. Of course, with the way the government had been, it was not surprising that the smaller villages were ignored. ]

[Touma nods.] I've holidayed there; I enjoyed it.

[Belatedly, he bows. Given this world's focus on handshaking, he hasn't done it in a long time; it feels odd.] I'm Touma H. Norstein.

[ He returns the bow with a smile. It is always nice to find someone from Earth on this planet, though few were from Japan. ] Yoshi.

We were lucky that the wars only destroyed the larger cities and not the country were I am from.

Wars - with whom? [Having been educated in Europe, Touma's knowledge of Japanese history isn't as great as he'd like, but this question may still help in pinning down when Yoshi is from, or if they're from different earths.]

[Since the invasion, Gakupo has made it his mission to keep his skills up to standard. While he may be somewhat against fighting, he understands that it is necessary at times in order to protect the peace. So he is in the training center, his jinbaori (upper jacket) is not on him. He's still wearing his hakama and body suit as he makes his way through grats.

From the corner of his eye, he sees the familiar face of Yoshi there. Confirming that there weren't nearby monsters to impede him further, he makes his way over, Miburi in hand while his empty sheath is at his side.]

I see you're using your free time wisely.

I have been growing soft here.

[ Yoshi whipped his katana around to clear it of any remaining grat blood before sliding it into his obi. As was proper, he tied back the sleeves of his haori (jacket) to keep them from tangling with his weapons and the bare skin of his forearms had been covered by lacquered bracers. He nodded slightly in greetings, keeping alert for the next attack although the monsters seem rather inclined to stay away from him. ]

It is not that I am fond of fighting, but this world is softer than mine in many ways. I should at least restore my skills to their rightful level.

[If any monsters were to approach, Gakupo would hear them a mile a way. Literally.]

I have to agree with you. This world, despite the recent events, is peaceful. I believe there are other things in the works, though.

[What Tseng said earlier at the announcement with the Esthar representative has his gears turning.]

Certainly it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
