[Night has fallen on Balamb Garden; the halls of Garden are mostly deserted besides the stray student walking about, and even the usual faculty members are missing from their posts around the school. There's a certain festive energy through the air, the source coming from the Ballroom cheerily decorated located on the second floor.

At exactly 2100, as soon as the dinner rush ends, the Garden chime sounds and the intercom clicks on. The Headmaster speaks to the Garden.]

The Graduation Ball is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom.

I repeat, the Graduation Ball is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom. The dance will run until 2400. Students leaving the ball after curfew are to return to their dorms immediately.

Also, Garden will be disembarking from Lake Obel at 1000 hours tomorrow for our return to Balamb continent, so please remain on campus tomorrow morning. The new quarter will start on Monday. I hope you've enjoyed your break!

[After the announcement, the intercom falls silent. The faint sound of upbeat orchestrations can be heard from the second floor of the building. In the second floor ballroom, the Headmaster, Garden faculty, and even some of the instructors are present, so troublemakers are free to roam until 2400. Caterers roam, offering drinks and refreshments to the party goers; a stationary stand for punch and food is also offered.]

The dance is not mandatory (though it is strongly recommended that newly graduated SeeDs attend), so students that choose not to attend won't be punished.

Newly graduated SeeDs are required to wear their uniforms. Otherwise, the occasion is black tie. All inhabitants of Garden are welcome to the festivities.

[She is wearing a SeeD uniform.]

[On the one hand, this all carries a sort of curious inevitability. She has worked hard this past year -- and for years prior. She had set her goal on this moment since as long as she can remember, and has bent all her will and effort to reaching it. Given the depths of her determination, could this have ever been in doubt?]

[On the other hand -- her knees are trembling, her voice is shaky, and she just plain can't stop crying. Or grinning.]

[Dreams do come true.]

[Mikuru, in her SeeD uniform, is in the corner talking to the gaggle of NPCs who make up the GFC, one of the Mean Girls and Russell Drake among them.

[They look busy. This looks important. If you try and interrupt they will shoo you away. (AKA the player is still on hiatus, just putting this in to set something up.)]

[tempesting]

Do you need a tissue, sweetie? [ Dolphin had seen the crying and at first had been alarmed, but then there's the big grin on Maria's face and that sets her alarms back to silent. Still, she approaches with some kleenex, that just in case. ]

Oh -- I think it's a lost cause at this point! [She sniffles, swiping at a cheek with the back of her hand, but still grinning all the while.]

[It felt oddly calming, to be in uniform again. Sure they each had their individual armors back int he Horde, specially the Officers like herself, trophies from hard work and accomplishments. But they still had the colors and the regalia and it was the sign of commitment to your cause and group.

So being in gear once again, this time under a new banner felt surreal but pleasant. She felt like things would change, whether for better or worse was still up in the air, but for now? For now she'd enjoy the moment.

She could even be seen in an uncharacteristically confident pose and demeanor, smiling and enjoying of the festivity in their honor.]

[tempesting]

But you don't want to smear your make-up. Here. [ She took a kleenex and dabbed at a drop about to smear the blush. ] You look beautiful, Maria.

I've always been terrible with makeup anyway, so that would be a first. [She laughs, and it's bright, but wavers on the edge of sobbing. Again, though -- all happy.]

[tempesting]

Do you any mascara with you so we can touch up those pretty lashes? [ She wants Maria to look ever-so beautiful in leu of her accomplishment. ]

[gunbladegrrl]

[Maria bursts into giggles at that, as she shakes her head. The idea that she'd carry around mascara!]

[tempesting]

[ Dolphin chuckles, supposing that, no, Maria does not have any Mascara on her. ] I take that as a 'no'?

[gunbladegrrl]

No... no, why would I?

[tempesting]

[ Dolphin sighs, shaking her head, and continues to wipe away smudges from Maria's face. ]

Have you ever worn powder?
