[ACTION] music time!

[Having gained some great sheet music for his birthday, Gakupo decides to see how they match up to his performance skills. He'll be playing two songs this day:


A: He's playing this lovely Deling song on his musical sword that sounds like this. Since he's pretty much an expert at playing on Miburi, it takes him a few tries to get the proper notes with the right swings of his blade. He goes back and forth between the music sheet held down by a paper weight, and the empty space to move.]


B: Gakupo also has his guitar with him, playing a pretty calm tune. Unlike before with his sword, he needs a music stand for this. It won't get in the way this time.

The slower tune does get him a bit down about Rinoa being gone. He sighs softly, taking a break.]

[Senpai's even better at the guitar than Day thought he was! Initially just passing by, he stops and listens - and sits down when he realizes he wants to stick around for the whole thing.

He's no musical expert, so he can't really judge, but it sounds good to his ears. He rests his hands underneath his chin and waits until Gakupo's done to speak.]

That wasn't half-bad.

[Gakupo knew Damian was there, but it was nice of him to approach when he took a break. He gives Damian a soft smile.]

Thank you. It's a very lovely piece. I feel as if I'm not doing it justice.

I wouldn't know. [He shrugs.] I never learned how to play an instrument back home.

Did you ever want to?

[bratbeyond]

Kinda. I never had time for it, since I was busy with school and... ["superheroing"] my after-school job for Mr. Wayne.

[eggplantallergy]

Do you think you have time now?

[bratbeyond]

Maybe. ... Why, are you offering to teach me sometime?

[eggplantallergy]

Well, of course! [Grin]

[bratbeyond]

You'd really have time to teach me. [He's skeptical, even if he's also sorta kinda grateful.] I thought you'd be on a mission by now or something.

[eggplantallergy]

I'm not on missions all the time, you know. I'll probably take one in a few weeks, if only to prepare myself.

[bratbeyond]

Fine. [He sighs.] It'd better not be a waste of our time.

["Thank you, when do we start?"]

[eggplantallergy]

[Gakupo raises an eyebrow before crossing his arms with a disapproving look at Damian's attitude.]

Pardon? [His tone indicates that he doesn't appreciate that tone of voice, mister!]

[bratbeyond]

[Uh-oh.]

I mean, th... thank you?

[eggplantallergy]

[Gakupo smiles brightly before ruffling his hair gently.]

You're quite welcome!

[bratbeyond]

When do you want to start? I'm taking a lot of classes, but none of them have finals this Quarter. [The upside to taking age-appropriate classes? They only have finals twice a year.]

[eggplantallergy]

Well, perhaps during the break would be good. It doesn't have to be everyday, but a change in scenery can help enjoy it.

[He may or may not be a strict teacher.]

[bratbeyond]

That works.

[He smiles slightly before standing up and glancing towards the cafeteria.] We'll figure out the details later, but we'll start during break. It'll be the guitar, right? [As much as he'd like to play the piano, he also feels it's kind of cliched.]

[eggplantallergy]

Yes, it will be the guitar. Should I bring one for you to practice on? [Gakupo has his own he saved up for, and he knows the music area would have a spare one.]

[bratbeyond]

If you could. I don't think I'll be able to buy one for a while. [His job at Wayne Enterprises doesn't pay that well since they're just starting, but he thinks he can buy one pretty soon...]

[eggplantallergy]

Sure thing. It may be best to put off buying one unless you're sure you can invest time into it.

[bratbeyond]

That's pretty much all I have. [He sighs glumly.] Unless I pick another specialization, I'm stuck here for another two years.

[Well, that's certainly something he's never seen before. Don't mind the possibly unexpected audience you just gained. Roy is staying well out of the way, but he's definitely curious about just how the music is being produced. He'll wait until the other man is done before approaching to satisfy that curiosity.]

[eggplantallergy]

[The last note is swung, leaving Gakupo with a chance to catch his breath. He wipes his brow with the back of his hand before turning towards Roy.]

May I help you?

[Roy gives the sword one last curious moment of study as the performance comes to an end.]

I was just curious about your... instrument that you were playing. How are you producing music with it?

[He's no stranger to the fact a sword can indeed 'sing', but he's never heard that sort of music come from one.]

[eggplantallergy]

[Gakupo looks to his sword, then to Roy.]

Truthfully, I'm not sure! It's a family heirloom, and to this day, it's still a mystery of how it was forged. Miburi is one of a kind. [Chuckles softly]
