Where's This Battle Music Coming From? [Open, Action]

[The training center echoes with the roar of displaced air, like a jet, then a meaty thwack of hoof on flesh. Then a mighty roar of anger and pain, bellowing from a massive saurian throat.]

[Hovering in midair, a fierce glare on her face, Rainbow Dash stares down the T-Rexaur. Objectively, she should have never engaged it, should've flown right away when it barged in on her fight with the grats and challenged her. But... Rainbow Dash. Backing down. Ha, yeah, right.]

[The Blaster Edge mount on her wrist is empty; she'd botched a shot and sent the projectile soaring into the trees. Blood mats her fur in a crescent on each side of her body, where the monster had gotten its teeth into her before she'd managed to get free. On the other hand, the T-Rexaur has a trickle of blood and spittle trailing out the corner of its jaw, and a distinctly mashed-in snout.]

[However this ends, it probably won't be well.]

Whoa, that thing's ugly!

[Suddenly flying is easier and less painful! Suddenly she doesn't hurt at all! Surely the pony will be grateful!]

What... the... hay is a filly doing in the middle of the Training Center?!

[But Rainbow, though something of a jerk, might have a point -- the T-Rexuar roars and lunges forward for Eiko, believing itself to have found a delicious appetizer.]

[RUN AWAAAAY!

No, really, that's exactly what Eiko does, scrabbling to get out of the way of the T-Rexaur's bite. When it squishes its nose in the ground, she halts.]

You think you're so tough? Well, I fought lots of stuff bigger and uglier than you!

[Emerald Light! Eiko summons Carbuncle, but not quite the same Carbuncle as the one taught about in GF class. Specifically, it's a Carbuncle with a green gem. And instead of reflect? Haste and protect.

QUICK GOTTA RUN AGAIN.]

OH NO YOU DON'T!

[Rainbow explodes into motion, hurling herself at the creature hooves-first with a snarl on her face. Just as it lifts its head up off the ground, Rainbow hits it with enough force that its entire body rebounds from the impact of jaw on turf. Before it can struggle up, the pony drops to the ground between it and Eiko, her legs splayed and her head lowered.]

Don't worry! I won't let it get you!

But you were doing so badly before!

[Judging by, you know, the whole blood everywhere thing.]

I'll back you up with magic, okay?

I was NOT! It was even! And I was about to hit him!

[Rainbow notes, in passing, that finally one of these humans has the good sense to have a horn.]

All right, you ready? Because THIS pegasus is about to take off!

[But she's ready, positioning herself to run just in case, preparing to summon Madeen. Memory loss? What's that?]

[Rainbow charges forward -- directly under the T-Rexaur, between its legs. Its head follows her briefly before it turns around -- to meet her onrushing hooves to its FACE!]

[You just keep believing that, Dash. While you kick things in the face, Eiko here is just going to summon Madeen. AKA gigantic biped winged catbeast. ...or, you know, whatever the hell you'd describe a mutated moogle as.]

[About to deliver what surely would have been the finishing blow, Rainbow Dash pauses in midair.]

Uhhh, this thing's on our side, right?

[But she's moving away, just so she doesn't get caught up in the area of effect.]

[She shrugs, though, and arcs up into the air, preparing to descend with a punishing blow!]
