[First Card] / Turn up the table and shuffle the deck

[Those wandering outside in the Quad today are certainly going to find an interesting sight. An unknown man is sitting at a table (where did he get that?), shuffling a deck of playing cards and leaning relaxed in his chair. The chair opposite him, along with the cards and table, suggest that he's waiting for someone to come play with him, but the looks he gives those who pass from under the brim of his hat might be a bit too eerie for most to approach.

Regardless, he seems oddly comfortable in his weird little niche. Occasionally a few cards will float up of their own volition and form a little circle around him before settling back down.]

((OOC: Basically, if you sit down, Fate is going to challenge you to a card game. During this game, he is going to cheat -- not at his full potential, but still subtly. He wants to see just how many of you can catch him at this.))

[Sometimes those looking to prey on the unwary get their tables turned around and this might have been a good example of such as Ahri followed her senses to a familiar presence nearby.

Once she reached the Quad, a mischievous smile rose on her face as she licked her lips from the shadows. A familiar prey, one that was both elusive and tricky and she loved to play with in her home world. Both a useful ally and a dangerous foe depending on what side summoners chose to choose him.

Nonetheless, it was someone she just had to approach and that she did... Slowly stepping out of the shadows, the familiar tails flailed around excitedly as she got close, her honey laden gaze focused on the Cardmaster.]

Now there's a sight I did not think I would see in a long while considering no one knows if we'll be returning home~

How's little Fate doing hmm~?

[Ahri hadn't been the only one who had a feeling. At least a year in the League had cultivated a sense for Twisted Fate as well and as she stepped close, a flicker went through him. He stopped shuffling, fingers holding up a single card carefully in case it was needed. The voice, however, makes a grin flicker across his face and Fate leans back in his chair enough that he can look at her, if upside-down.]

Well, look who it is. Ah didn't expect t' see yah here, Ahri.

[Back he goes to shuffling. They haven't been summoned, they aren't on different sides, so there's no reason to attack her. Not to say he isn't prepared in case she happens to decide otherwise, oh no.]

Ah've been jus' fine. Took a look at what they're offerin' here an' Ah gotta say, Ah'm interested.

[Knowing him, it should be ridiculously obvious what, exactly, caught his attention.]

Our goals might not be that different my dear little Fate~ Even if our paths, motives and executions are.

However, I have to say that I'm torn between being amused or annoyed that you did show up...

[She sauntered over to the other side of the table and sat at the chair, one leg crossed over the other as she leaned back, tails curiously swaying behind her as if wanting to take a look at the one teammate or foe.]

I would appreciate it if you kept my particular needs a secret from the populace of this world. They already seem wary of our kind to begin with.

[Her eyes narrowed and she looked at him with a dangerous glint in her eyes.]

I know your cliche of cheating, backstabbing and the like so I will remind you that I could end your life if you do so and you'd happily give it up like all the others. After all, I kill through passion and desire~

But you also know I can be a very very valuable ally.

[Fate never stops shuffling the cards, watching Ahri cautiously from underneath the brim of his hat. Oh, yes, he knew all too well about her little "trick" -- how many times had he been kited into a tower or the other team because of it? He may be cocky, but he's far from stupid. And so, as she finishes, he laughs, waving a hand dismissively.]

Ah honestly thought yah'd know me better'n that by now, Ahri. Yah honestly think Ah forgot what yah can do?

[He leans back a bit, adjusting his hat with a snort.]

Yeah, yah remember most of that right, but Ah'm not an idiot. Ah have no reason t' tip yer hand or backstab yah, considerin' that Ah'm not willin' t' die f'r it and we ain't in the arena. Ah'm pretty sure death sticks here, but Ah'd like t' not find out personally.

[More shuffling, though now Fate moves to lean on the table a bit.]

And Ah know yah, too. So Ah'll get t' the point -- what do yah want me offerin' for that alliance?

[Ahri's tails playfully sway around her, some even seemingly massaging her shoulders as she idly looks at her fingers and then finally settles to look over at Fate.]

Truthfully, all I require is silence and teamwork. And the occasional need to sate my particular needs if I cannot find suitable prey. While I dislike charity, I am not keen on feeling weak.

[She smiles mischievously.]

No worries, I won't drain you entirely~ That honor is left for my enemies and those alone.

[The Card Master is silent, clearly musing over what she's saying in his head. It is a good idea to have Ahri on his side, not just because of her abilities, but because -- as much as Fate would never admit it outloud -- he's gotten far too used to working with other Champions in something immensely tight-knit.

So it isn't too long before he replies.]

Alright. Ah think Ah can agree t' that, as long as yer careful with that "drainin'" of yers. Ah don't want t' have t' sleep in all day 'cause yah took most'a mah energy.

Like the League otherwise, eh?

[Ahri smiled and relaxed back on her chair, one of her tails darting out and catching one of the cards being shuffled and then tossing it around the other tails in a playful fashion.]

You learn quick, as always Fate. Just like the League.

Truth be told, with recent developments, it'd be good to have a teammate I can attempt to trust.

[Fate eyes the "stolen" card, chuckling a little.]

An' what would those "recent developments" be?

Seems the new head in charge made her displeasure on our kind rather clear. Our kind being anyone not of this world. So I believe tension might be rising soon.

Not that a bit of tension is always a bad thing, but you know how these things can get like.

Ah know.

[Hmm. That is an interesting dilemma and it figures that Fate comes in during all this. Still...]

At least Ah can hide mah eyes if Ah need t'. Ah'd be amused if anyone tried anythin', considerin' Ah doubt we're the only League-level outsiders around here.

They're passing around some alchemical potion that's supposed to give us a more 'acceptable' body.

You should already know my thoughts on such a thing. While my goal is to find out more about humans and have sought out means to become one. I shall do so through my own work. And not for the reasons these potions are for.

Ah agree. Best way t' make everyone turn against yah is t' make somethin' like that required.

Ain't nothin' like bein' forced t' change t' make a lot'a people unhappy an' fast.

[Ahri shrugged.] Many people accept it and like it and some think it's fun. And it's not required, but it's heavily suggested to make the locals more agreeable.

[The vixen leaned forward and rested her head on her arms. Her tails finally got bored with the card, flinging it back towards the deck as she let out a bored sigh.]

It's an odd place, has it's ups and downs I suppose.

That so.

[Fate flicks a finger and the card stops mid-air, floating to make little circles behind his head.]

Ah gotta admit, sounds a bit interestin' t' me. And here Ah thought none of 'em would take t' that.

[None of the League would, he was sure. Still, you could never know with people like these. Fate flicks his deck up, letting the cards join the one already in the air to create more twisting patterns.]

We'll see. I haven't been bored enough to leave the place yet, though threading cautiously with my feeding habits has been an annoyance I'd sooner stop than anything. But I'd rather not get run off or have to kill half this place due to the locals getting wary and scared of a little sucking~

Ah think it's the "little" part that might get yah in trouble. Nice as I remember it, yah weren't always very "gentle" with who yah were playin' with.

[It's why he's still a little wary about the whole "providing some help" thing, but he and Ahri are teammates in this place, so just something he has to deal with. Just like leashing the golems, right?]

Considerin' they're that suspicious, it might be work a try for yah anyway, there, Ahri, if yer really havin' that much trouble.

No point in being gentle with all my prey my dear Fate. Sometimes it can get a bit exciting and my hand might slip slightly. It's not like it doesn't feel good for you guys either... At least until the aftermath withdrawal~

An' Ah'd appreciate it if yah'd be a lil' more gentle if yer wantin' mah help with that.

[He raises an eyebrow at her, tipping up his hat a little with a chuckle. He trusts her to, but where's the fun in not poking at it?]

I didn't take ya for a man who liked gentle in the first place my dear Fate~

[Don't look now but there's a blue phoenix running off your cards. Literally running. Run phoenix run!]

[What.

For a moment Fate thinks he's seeing Anivia, but the differences stand out fairly quickly. A bird thief, huh? He knows how to handle that. He mentally "flicks" one of the cards in the phoenix's mouth.

Chck chck chck chck chck...]

[Oh. What. The. Fuck.]

[What did he just do?]

[A card's turning gold, drop it, drop it like a hot potato!!!]

[Oops too late.]

[And now Marco's frozen in place all paralyzed. @_@ Hm. Well shit. That could have gone better.]

[Perfect. Fate laughs, coming over and retrieving his deck from the now immobile birdie.]

Yah shouldn't take things yah don't know how t' work.

[Hi kettle, I'm the pot. Fate shuffles the deck a bit, tucking it away into his shirt and pushing his hat up enough to fix glowing blue eyes on the equally-colored bird.]

Yer pretty interestin' lookin' for a bird.

[He'd squawk and kindly tell Fate to go fuck himself in bird language, but his vocal chords are still a little too paralyzed right now along with the rest of him. Frozen birdie.]

[That just gets a chuckle as Fate puts a little distance between the two of them, facing the bird with a few cards between his fingers.]

Don't look at me like that. Yah should be fine in about...

[Three, two, one...]

Now.

[Instantly dashes forward and pecks Fate's hand. Be glad he didn't kick him. Though of course, the only reason he didn't do that was that he had stolen the deck, so there was only so much he could complain about for getting caught. Still! Have a phoenix peck!]

[WHOA hey, okay, lunging towards Fate while he's in prepared mode is not the best idea. The birdie peck hits straight on, but Fate's reflexively flicked a magic-infused card in return.

Hope you don't mind the now-sharp-as-blades paper slicing some of your feathers!]

[He does not, because magic or not, his feathers are flames. Cuts do exactly nothing.]

[So he just goes back to glaring at Fate a little. You owe him drinks for this man. >:|]

[Huh. Well, at least the bird's not attacking him. Though he raises an eyebrow at that look.]

An' what's that f'r? Yer the one who came up stealin' mah deck.

[Scoffs and mimes kicking sand at Fate to express his displeasure.]

[He shouldn't have left the deck so easy to steal then. If it was important, you have to protect these sorts of things.]

[It's not so much important (he has five or more of the damn things, ammo and all) as it is he doesn't like his things being taken. He pushes the brim of his hat up a bit, chuckling at the mime.]

Ah don't think yah have the right t' get upset at me. Unless yah can explain why yah took mah deck.

[Huffs. Easier said than done since he can't talk like this. So he just gently headbutts Fate's leg. Because fuck you, that's why.]

[You still owe him drinks.]

[He raises an eyebrow curiously. Sorry, Marco, he doesn't speak bird.]

Ah didn't think so. Now what do yah want?

[Stares. And rolls his eyes, looking for a pad and paper or something he can write into.]

[Eyebrow again. Silly birdie, what are you doing? ~~Didn't you steal a pen and pad from someone else?~~]

[Pssh. Awhile ago. Everything he's wearing gets transformed into blue flames while he's wearing it.]

[Meh, he just outright goes through Fate backpack to find a notebeook.]

[Fate leans on his table, apparently unbothered by that -- or interested enough to let him go. Either way, Marco easily finds pens and paper, so go nuts.]

[Yes. Success.]

[In the shittiest chicken scrawl in the history of writing ever:]

Stuff.

[Don't you feel enlightened Fate? :|]

[Why, you can comprehend!]

Stuff like what? Ah'm not exactly jumpin' to buy stuff for someone who's stealin' from me.

[Oh he was trying to answer why he was bugging him. This is less complex fortunately.]

Drink for Marco.

Ask him why.

[It's a reverse IOU. It's a UOMe. And he gives him the page before tearing off another.]

Why the card cheating?

[Hmm. He's actually interested enough to make that a note in the back of his head.]

Alright, then.

[Oh-ho. He noticed, eh?]

An' why not?

Then don't complain about card thefts.

Ah expect them, Ah just don't let 'em get away with it.

[Genuinely birds laugh at that and waves a wing as he starts heading off..]

[Fair enough man, you can keep your cards you fought for.]

[Besides he still gets a free drink out of this. Win-win.]
