I hope everyone's enjoying break so far. I know I'm really looking forward to some relaxing before classes start. Being a full time teacher sounds like it'll be tough, but I'll give it my best shot!

I want to thank everyone who showed up to my night classes, you were a big help in figuring out just what worked and what didn't.

[Action]

[Normally Rinoa doesn't do her own laundry, but the npc who she normally pays is on vacation with family for the next few weeks. Since dirty laundry doesn't wash itself, that means she'll have to do it.]

[She's never done laundry before in her life and it shows. After dumping in half a box of laundry detergent and stuffing far too many pieces of clothing into the machine, she closes the lid before pushing the button to turn it on.]

[It's not even five minutes later that the laundry room is absolutely covered in bubbles and more bubbles. There are enough bubbles that they've spilled out into the hallway even. Don't trip on the soap residue!]

I don't think that's what's supposed to happen.

[However she's not entirely sure how to turn it off, or even if she can make it over to the machine to do so. So many bubbles everywhere! Maybe she'll just wait for a while and spend some time popping bubbles first. Come help fix the problem, pop some bubbles, or just mock her for being a failure?

[Shadow washes his own clothing, so he comes to to do so, wearing a white sleeveless top and black jeans. It's nice to have the Garden so quiet--

He makes it to the laundry room and sees bubbles. Everywhere.]

What the hell...

[There's also one Rinoa in the middle of all this mess. She's pretty much covered in bubbles by now, her clothing might as well be made out of them. There's even a ton of bubbles just chilling out in her hair.]

It's not supposed to do this, is it?

No, it's not. [He places his landry basket outside the door and walks further in, parting the sea of bubbles with both arms.] How much detergent did you use?

[Squall could easily pay someone to do his laundry, but he prefers to do it himself. It's one of the few menial tasks that's actually soothing to him.]

[The sight that greets him, however, isn't soothing at all.]

[He cautiously makes his way into the laundry room, basket on his hip, and sees Rinoa in the middle of the chaos. Should he even be surprised?]

.... [He just stands there and sighs.]

[Wading through the bubbles she returns with a box of super duper extra strong detergent. When she hands it to him it's obvious that the box is half empty.]

My cats thought some of my clothes would make a great bed, so they were really smelly.

[Rinoa, as she's just proved, should not be allowed to do most chores. This is probably worse than that model train she'd made years ago.]

[It can be kinda soothing, if you squint. They could play in all the bubbles? Not that Squall is the type to play in bubbles, but it's a thought. She wouldn't tell if he wanted to do so!]

[Squall, for once, is probably the last person Rinoa wants to see. After all she's fairly certain this isn't how washing laundry is supposed to work. The last thing she wants is for Squall to see that there's yet another essential life skill that she's terrible at. After all he already knows she can't cook and she can't do handicrafts worth a damn either. Just great.]

[After a moment of just looking at him awkwardly, she brushes off her doldrums and offers him a cheerful smile. Nothing keeps Rinoa down, no sir!]

Hilo Squall!

[Watch her slaughter language rules to mix hi and hello together, she's quite a master.]

[Shadow meets her halfway and takes the box, noticing it's pretty empty.]

Why couldn't you have just put it on the washer twice, instead of using far more than you're supposed to in a single wash?

'How do humans survive for this long on stupidity? [Shadow sighs and looks around.]

Where's your washer?

What -- ack!

[From the hall, there's a slight squishing sound followed by a wall-rattling crash! Which is what happens when a pegasus pony, zipping down the halls, hits a big wall of bubbles and can't see where she's going any more.]

[You mean she's supposed to read the instructions?]

I didn't think about that, I just thought it'd be easier to use extra soap.

[She frowns slightly and then points to a washer that is obviously the source of the bubbles.]

It's that one.

[It's practically encased in bubbles and half the reason she's so bubble covered now is that she tripped trying to get to the stupid thing.]

[One bubble-covered Rinoa pokes her head out of the door, using the doorframe as a way to stay upright. Why are bubbles so slippery?]

Hey! Are you okay?

I can tell you didn't.

[Shadow goes and opens the lid after stopping the cycle. Water is still inside, along with more soap than necessary. He turns the knob to 'spin' so the water could drain.]

You're going to need a mop when the bubbles die down.

[Rainbow picks herself up, wobbling a few steps left and right, before shaking it off vigorously.]

What's all THIS?!

I don't normally do laundry.

[Which is also obvious.]

[Oh hey, he made it to the machine without falling face first into the bubbles. Good job!]

I might need a little more than that. They got everywhere!

[The laundry room is such a wreck, he has no idea how they'll ever get the place cleaned up. He looks around at all the bubbles, and then back at Rinoa, his face void of expression.]

(She seems cheerful enough.)

[An errant bubble lazily floats up and pops on the tip of his nose.]

[Then something strange happens: Squall laughs. Someone check the Island Closest to Hell, it's probably frozen over.]

Sorry, I was trying to do laundry.

It didn't go too well.

[Which is probably pretty obvious.]

[If it got Squall to laugh she'd flood the laundry room more often.]

[Face burning she wipes some of the bubbles off of one shirt, as if there isn't a huge clump of them on her cheek.]

I was trying to do my laundry. It didn't go exactly like I thought it would.

Did you...never do laundry when you were with the Forest Owls?

[He puts his hand on his hip and sighs. He looks a bit ridiculous standing there like that, a basket on one hip and a hand on the other. Then again, Rinoa looks ridiculous too, so at least they're even.]

Man, what a mess.

[She hops back into the air, well over the slippery soapy floor.]

Looks like you need some cleaning help, Rainbow Dash style!

[She shakes her head. Seriously Squall, do you really think they'd make their Princess do laundry?]

I think they took turns. I never really thought about it.

[She thinks he looks like Squall, which means he looks pretty okay in her books no matter what the situation - The exception being when he's got ice through his chest and then he looks terrible.]

That's also obvious.

[He's just that good. Also, he was walking pretty slowly. Doesn't mean he won't later.]

As long as you clean it up. The janitor is on leave this week. Even if they weren't, you'd still be cleaning this up. [Shadow looks really displeased at this whole scenario. Just as he was about to try and leave, he slips a bit but catches himself on the washing machine. Poorly.]

Yeah, I really did it this time.

[The look on Rinoa's face is almost comical in how hopeful it is.]

Could you really? Because this looks like it'd take me forever to clean up.

I guess it kinda is.

[She's such a great SeeD. Got knocked flat by a bunch of bubbles. They're all doomed.]

It's not like I made a mess on purpose you know.

[Of course she'd clean it up, it was only fair, but still gosh!]

Sure! Hold on, I'll be right back!

[Without waiting for a reply, Rainbow Dash zips off in a flash!]

[The minute Twilight's hooves touch the soap slick, she starts flailing them back and forth wildly in some sort of attempt to re-establish her balance.

Like the soap itself, it doesn't stick. She falls flat and is now sprawled in front of a room she probably hasn't had reason to enter yet. Do they even make pony-shaped uniforms?]

[The crash catches her attention and after a moment, Rinoa manages to stick her out of the door to see what happened. However, that act overbalances her and she ends up falling practically face first into the bubbles on the floor herself. Again.]

Ahhh!

[It takes her a moment, but she finally manages to sit up.]

Are you okay?

[If they can make Espio the Chameleon-shaped uniforms, they can make pony-shaped uniforms.]
