I'm curious, Garden. There are a lot of us here, and I've been wondering. What are your dreams? What is the one thing you really want to do?

[Rapunzel grew up with Gothel, Damian. And after her and Eugene. Confidence is a given.]

Why do you care, anyway?

I'm just curious about what other people's dreams are?

But why?

[seethelanterns]

Well, everyone has a dream. I just wanted to know what others wanted to do. Like me wanting to see the floating lights. I mean, the lanterns. I guess, it's good to remind yourself of your dreams and keep working towards them if you can.

[worthyheir]

Why would you care about the dreams of other people, though?

[seethelanterns]

Why wouldn't I? Dreams are something that can be unique to each person. And maybe if you know someone's dream, you can help them with it. Like Eugene did for me.

[worthyheir]

[He thinks you're nuts, Rapunzel.] Who?

[seethelanterns]

[She is just. Extremely sheltered and finally free. Or, a lot more free now at least.]

Eugene! He's the one who found me in the tower while he was running away. I made a deal with him so he could take me to see the lanterns and bring me home safely in return for getting his precious satchel back.

So you stole something from some guy, held it hostage, and forced him to live out your dream for him?

Oh yes, that's something everyone should aspire to.

[seethelanterns]

Well, he did just suddenly climb my tower. I didn't know what to do with him at first, but I figured he could help me. I was going to give his satchel back when we returned. It just so happened inside that satchel was a tiara that belonged to the lost Princess though, hence him being chased and wanted. So we had to be careful.

And I never said either of us were perfect.

It's just you set it up to be this grand, selfless tale when it was nothing more than glorified blackmail.

[seethelanterns]

Well, if I'd gone by myself I'd have gotten lost, and Mother was not going to take me, so I had to do something. Eugene showing up kind of sealed that and I didn't have much time to decide. It worked out pretty well in the end though, overall. He found he didn't care about the satchel as much and I got to see the lanterns and go home.

[Her real home, meeting her real parents. As nerve-wrecking as she imagine it might be, Eugene has been very reassuring about it.]

I'm so happy for you both.

[Maybe it might have helped if she actually told him the whole truth, about Gothel and Eugene. Eugene being set up and caught, escaping to come save her and dying trying to. But it's still hard for her to actually talk about that.]

So do you have any plans on blackmailing anyone else to help them live out their dreams?

No. I think Eugene's dream changed at some point on the way to Corona anyway.

Oh. No. I'm sure if people want something badly enough, they can work towards it themselves. Alone or with the help of their friends.
