[ there's music coming from one corner of the Quad; it's not so loud that it's overly intrusive, but it is noticeable, to anyone passing by. At the source of the sound sits Luka, legs crossed as she scribbles down a mixture of musical symbols and binary code. While she doesn't have any sort of music player on her person, the sound is definitely coming from her. It's not one set tune or song, and it changes entirely every few seconds, interjected with short bursts of static. All the while, Luka half-hums, half-sings under her breath ]

… I wanna rip and release your throat right now, I want to make you all mine... ♪ [ she pauses, and taps her pen against her lower lip, muttering to herself ] I probably ought to stop writing songs like that. [ with a sigh, she changes her tone, continuing to make notes on the sheet of paper set out in front of her ] ♫ Japanese ninja number one, we go creeping into the girls' locker room...

[He did blink at the sharp answer, but didn't pay much more to it when she answered the second time, noticing it wasn't as harsh as before.] A personal project? [Wry smile.] It doesn't seem so personal out in the open like this.

I said personal, not private, Gaku—Kamui. [ ] After all, I'd consider a good number of my songs composed thus far to be personal, and they've sold thousands upon thousands of copies each.

[Takes the offered spot with a soft 'thanks'.] What is it like being famous in your world? I've only seen celebrities through media, and it seems too good to be true.

That's somewhat difficult to answer, I suppose. I was created for no other purpose than to make music and be famous, and in a sense, I was “born” into this life. It's almost as if I were to ask you to sum up everything that you've ever been through, in a few short sentences. Saying that, being here does give me some perspective – I was very privileged, to say the least. I didn't have to worry about making enough money to scrape by, or working for so very many hours that I didn't get a chance to do what I truly loved. People recognised me, and I didn't think anything of it; didn't think it was strange to be stopped in the streets, or to always be accompanied by bodyguards.

An average week would see me in the recording studio for at least three days, appearing on TV once or twice, and there was always some photoshoot to be part of, or record release to be present at. Still, I had plenty of time to do what I wanted to, outside of music. It was, well, I certainly understand why people strive for fame. It can be wonderful.

[He took in her words, but something seemed off about it all. It was hard to put his finger on.] A lot of people strive for fame, yes, and it does seem enjoyable. I hope to one day become an artist as yourself, but...I can't help but think that fame would be more enjoyable if one had to fight for it, rather than being created for such a task.

Hm. [ ] I have to fight every week, to ensure that I stay in the charts! It is quite exhilarating, yes, and there will always be newer models to compete with.

Well, that's true, and I truly don't doubt your resilience to stay at the top, but I wasn't talking about a fight after stardom. I was speaking of before it. A lot of people take years to hone in on their skills, while it would take far less time for you, I'm assuming.

No time at all. I was switched on, and I was more or less as I am right now; it's one advantage of being able to download data, and be programmed in certain ways.

[Raises an eyebrow.] But...you missed out on so much...

Indeed I did. But that's something that can't truly be helped, and there are plenty of things that I'd never get to experience, if I were a human. It all balances out, in the end.

Too true. Still, being here is a great opportunity to do things the old fashioned way. [Smirks.] It isn't so bad, if humans seem to be doing well enough.
