[In the quad, Aladdin is peering quizzically at the translation necklace. On his shoulder his pet monkey Abu looks at it with him, making a disinterested noise.

Chances are most people won't be looking at the young man or the monkey though. That persian rug which is floating in the air beside him and somehow managing to look curious is much more attention-grabbing, after all.

Aladdin hasn't put on the device yet, so when he speaks it's in Arabic, not English]

So what do you think, Abu?

[Abu natter's away in a tone that suggests he doesn't think much of the device. Aladdin grins and shrugs in response]

Hey, as long as it works. [He puts it on and spreads his arms, facing Carpet. Suddenly, his next words come out in English] How do I look?

[Neither Abu nor Carpet understands English, but they seem to guess what Aladdin means. In response, Abu huffs his disapproval - but Carpet seems like like it, giving Aladdin a cheerful salute with one of its tassels]

[Unfortunately Lea's poking startles Carpet, and it flails and suddenly zooms to the floor, as if pretending that no, it's really just a normal rug]

Woah, Carpet, it's okay. [the edge of the rug ripples a bit, as if Carpet is considering getting back up again] Sorry, I think you startled him. He's a magic carpet.

[Comes up to Aladdin with a little white kitten in his hoodie.

In Arabic.] Is that a floating rug? And seriously, you dressed your monkey in a vest and a fez? How tacky.

[Not exactly the welcome wasgon, whoops.]

[He crouches down, offering it a hand.] Hi, Carpet! -- So you came here with him? And your pet? Lucky!

[Abu hears you insulting his threads, and he ain't happy about it. The monkey starts chattering and screeching angrily, shakily his fist at Damian]

Hey, calm down Abu. [Abu pulls at Aladdin's hair while jumping up and down] He likes to wear it, so why shouldn't he? And hey - are you speaking my language? [Aladdin can't quite tell with the translation necklace on, so he takes it off.

Meanwhile, Carpet has flown up behind Damian and reached out with one tassel in an attempt to pat the kitten]

[Is that a friendly hand? Carpet thinks it might be, so he springs upright. After a short pause, he offers Lea a tassel. Shake tassels hands?]

Yup, both Carpet and Abu. I just wish Jasmine had come here too. [Aladdin slumps a little] She won't even know where I am.

[But she saw Carpet first. And she's willing to believe it's got Float cast on it or something and she imagined it saluting.]

[Carpet perks up at the praise, and flies around Sharpay in a circle. It is an attractive rug, if it may think so himself]

[Carpet glide back in front of Ezio, two of it's tassels resting on the ground as if it were 'standing'. It seems to be looking at him with curiosity this time]

I'm Aladdin! [holding out a hand] This is Abu - [the monkey makes a noise that sounds strangely like 'hello'] - and I guess you've already met Carpet. [the rug waves a tassel]

We're supposed to get back the same time we left! Or that's what Espio says, anyway, and he's been dragged here three different times so he ought to know.

So she probably won't even know you were gone.

I hated that necklace thing. when I first arrived , mine would glitch and make me speak gibberish until it fixed itself. It is better to take a class to learn their language.

It is difficult if you have no foundation in it. I learned the basics of a few languages when I was younger , so it was easy.

[ And even still , he finds himself going back and forth from Italian to English.]
