SCENARIO ONE: CAFETERIA

[In-between classes, Cissie's situated herself in the cafeteria with a notepad, pen, and a couple of books. With titles like 'Dating for Dummies' and 'A History of Balamb Garden', it seems like she's doing more than just homework. Every now and then, she glances up from her work to look around - and maybe to get a soda or two.

This time, before getting some more food, she walks over to the nearest table and points a thumb towards her stuff:] Hey, could you look after my stuff for a moment? I wanna grab a soda.

Um... if you want, I could get you something to eat too! It wouldn't be a problem.

[Especially since cafeteria food these days've gotten a lot better. Now she actually doesn't mind going for seconds!]

SCENARIO TWO: BART'S ROOM

[Knock knock, Bart! Cissie's standing in front of his door with a freshly-baked batch of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. She'll need the cookies - or so she thinks - to actually say what she wants to say this time.]

Oh, yeah, I don't really care--turkey and ham sounds just fine.

Great! Just hang on a sec!

[It takes her a couple of minutes, but she returns with an orange soda for herself and a turkey & ham sandwich for Danny. Handing it to him, she grins.] Thanks again. I'm Cissie, by the way.

[While Cissie is off getting the food, Danny takes this opportunity to do absolutely nothing.

He's doing so much nothing, in fact, that his eyes begin to wander and he catches sight of Cissie's books. 'Dating for Dummies'? Huh. Weird.

He tears his eyes away from the book when he seems her coming back, though. With a grin, he accepts the sandwich.]

Thanks. And, uh, I'm Danny.

So, uh...is all this homework? [He points down at all the papers and whatnot on the table.]

[The minute Danny gestures towards her stuff, she almost chokes on her soda.] Some of it.... but a couple of it isn't. You know, it's like... reading for fun?

[She coughs. Subject change is hopefully a-go?] So um. What're you majoring in?

[Your near-choking has gone UNNOTICED, Cissie.] Oh...heh, yeah. My, uh. My roommate--he really likes reading too.

And, I'm majoring in Intelligence. ...What about you?

[This was way too easy.] Battlefield Medicine! I want to be a doctor, but it doesn't look like I can accomplish that through the usual channels here.

Oh, yeah, heh. I guess you wouldn't be able to...

I didn't know what to pick, really. I almost chose Piloting, but I think in the long run Intelligence is better for me. I don't think I could handle any of the fighting.

Yeah? You didn't know how to fight back home? [it's not the first time she's heard that, though it is a little unusual for her.] You wouldn't be the first.

Really? Most everyone I met here finds it pretty weird... There just wasn't really any need to know how to fight back home.

That's because they're used to it. [she manages a smile as she takes her stuff before plopping down beside Danny.] My world had people who could fight....and then we had people who couldn't. It's not necessarily bad, just different.

Yeah! I'm no good at fighting, but I can do some other stuff. It's just not as useful at a military academy, I guess, heh.

...What about you? Could you fight? I mean, can fight, since you...probably wouldn't have forgotten how to do that.

[Aww, Danny! Cissie can't help grinning at that.] Yeah, I can. My mom taught me how to use a bow and arrow, but I don't use it much these days. Like I said, I really want to be a doctor instead.

Well, that sounds good! And, I bet it'll be helpful in, uh, Battlefield Medicine. You know, knowing how to defend yourself, just in case, right?

[Danny visibly tenses, nervous at the idea of going back in there, but he still grins.]

[With that, she smiles again before heading back to finish the rest of her work. Kid seems nice, if not a little too nervous about the monsters, but... those lessons'll be fun.]
