_{[During lunch today, Homura can be found sitting at a table by herself, pages of notes spread out before her as she tries to make sense of her coursework so far. Slowly, she's been adjusting to Garden life, and (sort of?) making friends in the process, but it's still so... overwhelming, that she can't help but sometimes want to go sit in her dorm room for awhile to take a breather. That said, she's been handling things fairly well so far, for someone who was desperately wanting to find one of her friends from home, save for being a shy klutz and whatnot.

If anyone decides to try peering at her notes, they'll notice that aside from notes on her courses, there's also notes on... chemical formulas for making explosives? For those that encountered her before in the training center, it probably comes as no surprise, but otherwise, it's a bit... weird, for this girl with the glasses and braids to be researching something like that.

In the end though, when you're a magical girl with time magic who has no other real notable skills to boot, you do what you gotta do to fight the good fight.]}

[ Probably Vanille was someone who could have used to spend her lunch hour studying or doing homework— something constructive. Instead, she was all about spending that hour eating and socializing. She had to be in class learning all day, so she felt like she deserved the break., especially since her afternoon classes were sometimes just as hard as the ones in the morning, unlike the way it had been in her first quarter.

She recognizes Homura from across the cafeteria... And decides that her being alone and studying during her lunch break just won't do! At least not the entire time. She'd at least go say hello. So that was what she did, disposing of her lunch before moving over to the table, leaning over the other girl's shoulder. ]

Ah- u-um... it's still a little confusing, b-but yes, or at least... I'm doing my best to...

That's good! [ She smiles and takes a seat, glancing at some of her notes. ]

Looks tough to me. You must be pretty smart!

Smart...? I-I'm not sure... I don't really think I'm that smart, anyway...

You don't? [ She cocks her head to the side, crinkling up her face in thought. ] I'd say you are!

You're smart enough to know it's a good thing to spend time studying right? I'd say that's pretty smart.

Ah- well... I spent a while in the hospital because of my health, so... I don't want to fall behind again.

Oh... [ Yipes. She kind of trails off, thoughtful, but then comes right back with the cheek. ]

Well, it looks to me like you won't be falling behind any time soon!

Do you think so...? T-Thank you.

Don't mention it! Keep working hard, okay?

R-Right! I won't fall behind anymore.

Yeah! [ Cheering you on, Homura! ]

Guess... I should leave you alone to your studying, then? Unless you still want some company.

[That is a hell of a lot of notes, missy. Mikuru's eyes widen as she glances at them.]

Would I be interrupting your study if I joined you?

N-No, not at all... _{[moving to make room for Mikuru]}

Alright! [She takes a seat, peeking more closely at the notes. She'd thought this girl seemed a bit lonely studying over here by herself, but now these notes are just confusing ~~Mikuru hasn't done chem here yet~~.] What do these do?

Huh? _{[Oh she's looking at the notes on...]}

T-They're notes... um... for making explosives. I n-needed a way to fight, so...

Oh! [Mikuru remembers her encounter with Homura in the training center and the explosives she was using then.] I never really thought they could all be written down in equations like this... But then, I was never very good at science. [She smiles, self-deprecatory.]

Why did you need to fight?

I looked them up on the internet before I came here... a-and I've also been trying to find books in the library that might help.

W-Well... there's something I need to prepare for...

[Mikuru nods. She knows that feeling. She also feels like a bit of an ass for asking when this girl clearly doesn't feel comfortable sharing.]

I'm sorry I pried...

I-It's okay... I'm sorry, I can't really explain much right now...

[Mikuru offers a smile.] We all have our reasons! I had someone to protect, back home.

_{[Oh, that catches her interest....]} Y-You too...?

[She nods, encouraged by this use of 'too'.] Someone being targeted at his most vulnerable by people wanting to use him...

[Mikuru doesn't notice she's doing it, but one hand reaches into her pocket, touching a note.]

Oh, I see... _{[She notices the gesture, but doesn't say anything about it for now, for the sake of being polite.]}

I-I made a wish to be able to protect someone really important to me, instead of being protected... I-I wanted to redo our meeting.

[Oh, how Mikuru can relate; that is precisely why she took swimming her first quarter at Garden.] That's a really good wish... But could you really do things over like that?
