action; the lobby outside the dormitories
[Kanaya is standing quite still near the center of the room; she has what looks like a quarter of a bedsheet wrapped around her head, and a hole has been cut in- sawed in, possibly, judging by the ruin that's been wreaked on the cloth- for her eyes. Dark green liquid is soaking through the wrapping in several places. She got here fairly quickly after searching her assigned respiteblock and reading the letter twice, but now that she's reached a common area, she's stymied by the sheer range of unfamiliar and inexplicable options before her.
A school, the letter had said. There had to be antiseptic somewhere: how else would you clean up after an unruly student had been culled? But for the moment- well, if she had breath to catch, she would be catching it. As it is, she tries to regain her bearings, and stares out through her makeshift mask with wary interest.]

Yo, you ok? You need me to take you to the infirmary or somethin...?

I'm as okay as can be, but my skull might need some work.
Directions to the nearest medical facilities would be appreciated. Thank you.

I can walk with you, just in case. Or I can scram, if that bugs you out. [SHRUG]

but the tall, familiar horns and glowing skin made her stop and make a bee line. This place was known for stranger.]
Kanaya!

Slowly and clearly:]
You appear to be an impossibility.

I have no idea what you're talking about. [More important matters!] What is that ragged thing on your head and... why are you taller than me?
no subject
To answer your implicit and explicit questions in that order, firstly, I am talking about the fact that you are unfeasibly young, secondly, an impromptu bandage type arrangement, and thirdly, very probably because of the first thing I said being, indeed, a thing.

[Needless to say, he's on that shit like bees on grubsauce.]
K-Kanaya! [He rushes up to her, still looking a little disorientated and confused.] Your head...how did...
[Time shit, he remembers. The keyword is time shit.]

He's not glowing unduly, she notes, with very real relief, and neither does he appear to have any intentions to murder her by more mundane means.
Probably because, as far as can be seen, Nereid isn't in the vicinity. And, with any luck, not in this dimension.
She keeps her distance, though, backing up a few steps, hand on the lipstick tube.]
Sollux. I must admit, I am... relieved to find you more receptive to my involvement than you were. I take it you have remembered yourself?
no subject
[It hurts a bit though. He doesn't blame her for being wary, but he hates that that's the first thing she has to think about when seeing him.]
[He takes a few steps backwards of his own.]
Yeah. [He looks at the ground.] Kind of.
no subject
Kind of. What kind of kind of?

Hi Kanaya have a human kid with a shifting shadow. He keeps opening his mouth as if he's going to say something but can't...quite figure out how to put it. universe shenanigans, how is he to know if anything he says would ring any goddamn bells]

At last, extremely dryly:]
Do I have a little something on my face?
no subject
...Ah, no. Apologies, there just... seems to be a twist of alternate timelines at play here.
Maryam?

She hefts the tube of lipstick in her hand, eyes narrowing.]

Or perhaps this was an alternate Kanaya? That would make sense, and she supposed there was only one way to find out and so she very hesitantly approached the other troll.]
Um. Kananyaa? Is that you?
no subject
Why are you all so diminutive?

Vriska had been older than the one she remembered when she arrived here so it wasn't a completely shock, but to see one of her friends this much more mature was still pretty shocking.]
Well I guess beclaws only six sweeps old.

Right. Okay. Hello, Nepeta. It's nice to see you, even if the circumstances of our reunion are not what I would have expected them to be twenty four hours ago.

I had no idea that this universe celebrated Halloween out of season. Thank god my usual attire is pseudo-gothy enough to pass for a costume. Of course yours will obviously outclass it, but it's good enough to get me through the rest of the day.
no subject
Your attire intent analysis could use some serious polishing.
...What exactly is a Halloween?
no subject
As to your question, it's a ritualistic holiday in which young children ward off evil spirits with sugar products. Quite a popular day to celebrate.

I admit it's not my finest hour as an aspiring stylist. But I was compelled to make do with those materials I had to hand.
