Set them free!

[Shadow is walking around Garden, trying to lose track of the kittens that are constantly following him at his feet. They were Maria's, and with her gone, he doesn't want to keep them. At all. The kittens feel otherwise.

So much scowling going on.

The kittens sometimes get distracted and trip over their own paws, but do a damn good job of keeping up.]

I don't really care how, so long as I can get rid of them. [Those kittens are a playful bunch. One approaches Cid, wondering who this other fellow is. Shadow watches it, quirking an eyebrow quickly.] Want one?

[Cid kneels and pets the kitten who's come up to him.]

Is it really all that difficult for you to find new owners for them? [He looks at the little fellow in front of him.] If it is, I suppose I could take this one off your hands.

You have no clue how many there are. [If he hadn't seen it himself...

The small kitten purrs at the attention, leaning into it.] Thanks.

Surely you haven't had to keep all of them since that incident a while back... ?

[Cid picks up the kitten and stands back up again.]

Why would I keep one? [He's no cat person, although the other kittens think otherwise.]

I merely ask as you are not the first person I have met who has been saddled with a large number of kittens since then.

[There's a touch of humor to his voice.]

Perhaps a joint effort could be set up to create one.

Good idea, since no one seems to adhere to the no pets policy.

An individual can put in a request to keep their pets, but considering how many cats there are about nowadays, the administration may as well just abolish the rule altogether. [A pause.] Or perhaps a revision to make it more lax.

If no one's going to follow it anyway. A revision might make the novelty wear off, too.

Does it really bother you so much, Shadow? I can understand it being a nuisance now--[His gaze flicks over the herd of kittens following after the other.]--but even if they are not in your care?
