[Shadow is walking around Garden, trying to lose track of the kittens that are constantly following him at his feet. They were Maria's, and with her gone, he doesn't want to keep them. At all. The kittens feel otherwise.

So much scowling going on.

The kittens sometimes get distracted and trip over their own paws, but do a damn good job of keeping up.]

I probably shouldn't be saying this, but you should really take better care of them. Without their previous owner, they kind of feel lost and insecure. [... he might be able to understand it completely, even in human form. Just maybe.]

[He nods, glancing up at Shadow.] It's hard not to notice. They're kind of loud for kittens---[he pauses, making a face at one]--and no, I'm not taking that comment back, no matter how much they beg.

Not surprising. They're like your distant cousins. [Smirks lightly.]

[werepanther]

[Tom can't help snorting as he picks one up and snuggles it] For distant cousins, I sure missed the memo about them coming into town.

I'm not sure how.

[werepanther]

You're telling me. It explains everyone's odd behavior this past month, though...

[Raises an eyebrow at the statement.] Hmm?

[werepanther]

About how people were so excited and nervous and if you mentioned the word "cat," the Cadets got really jumpy. I didn't really get why.

[Seems he misses more than just faculty memos.]

...don't you even read the policies here, Bronson?

[werepanther]

I do! [That might've been more indignant than he intended.] I know pets're against the rules, but I usually ignored signs of people owning dogs or cats anyways.

Trust me, I wish I lived under a rock. [He pauses for a moment, glancing down at the kittens again]
