010 [Action, OTA] Evening training

[Bulla's in the Training Center getting in a good workout. Rather than focusing on strength, today her focus is on speed and endurance. They're both useful for combat, and much less hazardous than her previous regiment of seeing how far she could launch grats with punches or kicks.

At the moment, Bulla's sprinting through the training center. Periodically, she'll abruptly leap up mid-run into a spinning kick and follow up with a combination of punches and kicks before bursting back into a run.

Someone should probably insist that she pause and have a drink of water soon.]

[Speaking of launching grats, another circuit around will reveal a gunblade girl near the entrance, cheerfully smacking the crap out of one of the beasties with her twin blades. After a lot of practice and a few trips to the Infirmary over the course of the past week or two, she's finally getting the hand of dancing around their whippy tentacle attacks, and her old training is shining through despite the newness of these monsters and her weapons.]

[Bulla takes a break when she spots the girl practicing with her gunblades. She waves and approaches in the girl's line of sight so she's not startled.]

Twin gunblades, huh? I've never seen someone do that before.

[She works one gunblade free of the grat's corpse, then turns to smile.]

How many people have you seen using just one gunblade? I can't believe more people don't use them around here!

Hmm...well, there's Rinoa, the Commander, Seifer, and a little girl with green hair...so a few people.

I specialized in martial arts instead.

Girl with green hair? [This is news to her. She must hunt this person down and find out what she does.]

Oh, martial arts are all right, but there are no triggers to pull! [She's teasing, honestly!]

Yeah...she's younger. I don't know how old, but probably no older than twelve. I'm not in her classes, but I've seen her in the Training Center before with a gunblade.

[Bulla laughs.]

I'll stick with throwing punches. I hit pretty hard.

[Not that wanting to punch things is any evidence of it -- martial arts were a class here too, after all -- but...]

[Bulla tosses her hair over her shoulder. She's well aware of what makes her stand out.]

Call it a hunch. [She smiles, glad that Bulla didn't seem to be mad.] Did you already know how to fight when you came here, then?

[The only time Bulla got offended by references to her hair was when she was rudely asked if the carpet matched the curtains. She knows it stands out.]

I had some training...dad didn't push me nearly as hard as he pushed my big brother, though.

[She smiles fondly.]

My dad's one of the strongest martial artists in my world. He's tied for first place with his rival and best friend.

Okay. You didn't have any obvious martial arts weapons, so I figured you must have some knowledge if you came here before you could do things like Junction to Strength and all.

[Bulla looks a little sheepish.]

I hardly ever junction anything, to be honest. I'm not very good with it or with magic.

[Again, she's baffled by the people here! She's a physical fighter and she knows it, but she can't imagine not working hard to master the aspects of being a SeeD that really MADE a SeeD in the first place!]

[Damian is working on getting out the pent-up frustration from meeting Drake out in the most effective way he can think of--beating the crap out of things until they drop.

After landing a spinning kick to some unfortunate creatures head, he lands incorrectly and winds up staggering backwards a few steps--and right into Bulla.]

[It throws Bulla's groove off and startles her, but she manages to hold in the urge to have her arms flail out. Instead, she catches the boy, then takes a couple of steps back.]

Careful, there! You're not hurt, are you?

I'm fine. [Steps out of her way.] What are you doing, running around like a maniac? You're going to get hurt.

I'm working on my speed and endurance. I've worked on my strength plenty, but I'm going to need to be able to run for a long time and might have to fight random monsters while on a mission...

[She shrugs and smiles.]

It's pretty hard to hurt me.

I've never heard of a "Saiyan" before. [Mumbles.] Though I suppose that explains the blue hair...

[Bulla's rather amused by that, although it's not fair to the boy if she doesn't explain.]

Actually...some humans have hair this colour in my world. My dad's the Saiyan and his hair is black. Saiyans are really strong and can take a lot of damage.

And Saiyans don't shoot laser beams out of their eyes, do they?

[She blinks a little at such a specific guess. Maybe the only aliens the boy had ever met did that?]

Saiyans can use chi blasts and use chi to fly, although a few human martial artists can do that, too.

I've had several tutors that taught me about chi, and I'm fairly certain you cannot use it to fly. [Though if you could, that would be pretty cool in his book.]

Well, you have to have a lot of it to use that technique, but it's possible.

[She takes a very thorough look around to make sure the boy is the only other person here right now, focuses her chi, and flies a small circle around him before landing.]
