[Action -- Training Center] (Pester a phoenix?)
[Marco wasn't sure of this. None of his conversations with the Commander had worked out favorably, and it seemed a little ridiculous to expect otherwise this time. Still, Marco had the self-imposed job of learning everything he could while he was in this world that would help him keep his family from dying back home, and if nothing else, watching what happened when Squall did things would give him a better idea of what not to do if it went badly. And in a strange way, while he might not like Squall, the Garden was Marco's home away from the Moby Dick now, and it'd be irresponsible not to offer his help when he had some to give.
All of it has him a little more wrapped in his thoughts than usual. He's been pent up and restless. Until the Garden, Marco always considered himself something of a desk person. Now, he's painfully aware of how much of a pirate he is. He isn't prone to rash actions, but there's a good dose of choosing to hang the consequences in favor of attitude. And just because the reality is that he can't be the same way he is at home, that he's not the number one commander in a team of 16 brothers anymore, it doesn't give him enough incentive to hold back. So now he's just kicking the crap out of Grats and seeing how far he can send them flying. For fun and because not keeping a hold on one's emotions is just embarrassing, and Marco expects better of himself.
You know what? Fuck it. He's in enough trouble for the day and just going to light up a cigarette now while no one's looking. Yeah, he really should be doing this up on the roof, but he has to meet Squall and he's counting on bird startle reflexes to warm him in advance of anyone approaching. Feel free to prove him wrong?]

He didn't like to ask for information, but he hated being clueless while everyone around him moved forward. So much for Commander.
Walking through the training center he spotted, well a blond guy. ...Who's name he hadn't gotten. ...This would be awkward.]
Are you the one from the BBS?

This is a record of the Time Compression's course in the last year I've been here. You could ask some of the people who've been here longer, but a lot of times they don't remember it, or they say it's just been about the same. Sometimes it repeats. [Shrugs.] As you might expect.
Nightmares, status effects, visiting someone else's memories, visiting someone else's worlds.

Rinoa... [How can he begin this at all?] Has come a long way in the last year. [Wow... that was weak.] Between all the help with gunblades and her time here as a cadet...
You should tell her what your last memories are, eh. She deserves to know.
[Okay. That will give him some time to figure out a better approach. It's a start? And not one Rinoa would kill him over. He assumes.]
no subject
...She already does.
[...Did something happen? She said he was here for a year before... ... ... ...Maybe... he made her a promise. If he doesn't remember it... he'll just have to find out.]
no subject
Does she? And how did she react?
no subject
[Annoyed. Maybe upset. For him he'd just lost an entire year with her, that couldn't be easy for her to find out. ... ... ...Maybe.]
If you know something just tell me.
no subject
I haven't talked with her recently about it, it was ages and ages ago.
Here's how I see it. You've got two options. [Holds up a hand and ticks down a finger.] One is your usual way of brushing it off and assuming you know what you're doing, which frankly, got you into the mess. Or two, [Counts down a second finger.] you can trust someone with experience and a slightly better edge into the female brain.
[Spreads the hands in a shrug.] Either way she's a friend to me, so that won't change for me no matter what you do.
Think you can listen or should I go talk to a brick wall? [Okay. That... could have really been said better. Ahh, running a hand through his hair to force himself to calm down. No sense holding such weird things against him that he won't remember.]
no subject
GJ Marco. But his face doesn't change a beat despite the fact he's beginning to mildly freak out. He thought- ...he thought things were better now. Than before at least.]
...I'm listening.

Fresh start. Ask her to the dance, make it formal, bring her flowers and be attentive. [Rubs the back of his neck, okay he's solid and sure of that much at least. There's a small shrug though.] Same thing with the carnival. Make sure to spend more of it with her than anyone else. That doesn't mean you can't say hi to friends, but if you go off with them, make sure to come right back. Whether you think she notices or not, she will. Same thing if you go out on the town. It's not easy being a cadet when your friends are all graduated, and it's easy to feel left out, eh. [There's a poignant glance, like "Please Squall pick up on what that means," even if he doesn't expect it.]
For old stuff; there were some newspapers that upset her, I think she's grown enough since then that it doesn't get to her now even when new things come her way, but keep an eye on for small things like that. It'll make a huge difference to her and everyone needs someone like that to watch over them, and sometimes people when they're scared say stupid things that hurt others.
Start on those for the month. If that all works and you want more help after that, I'll be glad to see her happy. And if not, I'll be the one buying her drinks. [At least he resisted his base urge to threaten bodily harm if Squall messes up :|]
I also have some of the battle tactics, mission lists and newspapers of the last year, if you want it.

[What?]
...Is that it?

Well, you should be nice to Angelo too, but if I have to tell you that you're just beyond hope.

...He's just turning around and walking away lmfao if he stays any longer he's totally going to punch Marco and that wouldn't be a Commander-ish thing to do. ...Not that he's ever been good at Commander things
*cough*ditchingGarden*hack*but still. HE SHOULD MAKE AN EFFORT.]no subject

Bad day?
no subject
You could say that.
no subject
[Even seeing Marco jumpy is a bit worrisome given how laid back he is most of the time.]
no subject
Sparring might be good. [Falls back into a defensive posture.] Grell's in the fashion club with you, right?
[This is a totally normal segue, shh.]
no subject
Yeah, she is. Why do you ask?
no subject
[Does a kick that would go right over her shoulder unless she moves.]
no subject
[Bulla side-steps and aims a palm-strike at Marco's abdomen.]
Do you need some help picking out a present for her?
no subject
Kind of... [Rubs the back of his neck.] I've never been this serious about anyone, so I'm not sure if there's a protocol to follow, eh? [Gets back up and keeps his arms burning blue (they only heal, can't really burn anything, and just feel warm and healing) as he aims a better punch for real this time.]
no subject
Well, she'd probably like jewelry...maybe something engraved with both of your names on it. She seems to have some old-fashioned values about some things, so something special like that would probably be good.
[Marco doesn't get much time to contemplate that, since she takes advantage of being much shorter than him, drops down and aims a sweeping kick at his legs.]
no subject
[JUMPS. O_O HOLY CRAP THAT WAS FAST. And he tries to aim a light kick when he comes back down.]
If--
[He's not even sure he can talk about this le sigh. AHA he has an idea as he lands and puts up both arms and readies his legs defensively.] If it came down to traditional or red, but could only be one or the other, which would be the better way to go?
no subject
Traditional, and then a red flower.
[She throws out a couple of swift punches with no power in them as feints, then tries to dart in for an uppercut punch.]
no subject
[Is thrown for the feint, blocking those easily enough, but takes the punch hard to his jaw and has to right it while aiming a kick low this time.]
no subject
Y... yo, Marco!
no subject
Shin? You okay?
no subject
[ Nervous little grin here as she ruffles her own hair. ]
[ ...Shaddap, talking scythe. ]
Well... okay, apart from that.
no subject
[So helpful.]
no subject
...Way for making us sound awesome, Ras.
[ But she props herself back up against the tree. ]
So what brings you here? Training?
no subject
[Strange place for it, but Marco's a strange guy. SO strange.] Hey. Are there like... different orders to shinigami and things?
