uselessness
[CLOSED to Tobias, and anyone who might pay them a visit... for whatever reason!]
[It was bad enough that Espio saw his own reality collapse as he was dragged out of and thrown into this world. His friends, family, and everyone were all dead, as far as he was aware, and he had no home to return to.
To see it all happening again, however... Time Compression had a cruel sense of humour, Espio was now convinced.
He had the opportunity to save everyone - he knew what was happening, he knew what could have stopped it, and he had people there to help. And he did his best! He really did! But... despite all his best efforts, it was all for nothing. Everything Espio had ever known before coming here was still gone. He just felt so... powerless. Useless. Alone, stranded on an alien world with just a handful of friends who had never even seen the Special Zone.
All of a sudden, it all just seemed so pointless. If he couldn't work for his home, his friends, his family... what was he working for? And what would happen to him should Time Compression send him back to the empty void that was once his home - would he die? Would he even have enough time to realise what was happening?
The unusually quiet and disheartened Espio was pretty much sticking to his room for now, only occasionally venturing out for a walk. He's not eaten for at least three days, is sleeping on and off, and - to take his mind off it - only occasionally flicking through a book. The most energy he's spent recently has been convincing Marco to eat.
It doesn't take a genius to realise that something's wrong For those who don't already know what happened, however, getting anything out of him would be a pain.]

[Tobias had been watching him for those three days, for sure. He had tried to get his friend to eat something, but without any real luck. Of course, the main problem being that Tobias wasn't sure how to approach this. He had a good idea of what was wrong, but he had never suffered quite like Espio had -- he had lost everything once, yes, but it wasn't the same.
Which is why he's simply fallen into checking on him repeatedly.]
Do you need anything?

No.
no subject
...All right.

[Yes, Tobias just lectured him. WHAT IS THIS.]
no subject
Oh yeah. Grell woke up, so I don't have to make sure Marco eats anymore.
no subject
That's not the point, Espio.
no subject
Huh? What?
Oh, right. I just thought you should know.

...where the hell is he going?]

So many lives lost.
Didn't the other him know about what Maria wanted him to do? Did he forget?
...did Maria even exist then? No, she had to have been alive, or else he wouldn't be.
So lost in his thoughts, he bumps into someone around his own height. And stares.
Communication issues, indeed.]
...sorry. [Turns to walk away, unsure if he can handle a conversation with the other.]

Oi, Shadow.

Hmm?

I know that! [Balls his fists. They went to his homeworld, too.] But that was me, at one point. Because I couldn't remember her promise...

Don't be stupid. You're definitely not him. You have something you can care about - he wasn't even capable of caring. Besides... your Mobius is different to the one I know anyway.
no subject
Raises an eyebrow.] Mobius? My world doesn't have the Special Zone. It's just Earth. [Which he was so close to destroying.
He's quiet for a few moments, still looking troubled. That look will never fully go away.] ...maybe Maria didn't exist for him...
[Why was Espio consoling him?] Don't call me stupid. [Late comeback is late.]

[]
Never heard of it. Outside of the Special Zone, I only know Mobius... and Mobius doesn't have anywhere near that many humans.
...and I'll call you what I like. Idiot.

So?
no subject
At least you're aware.

I'm gonna go back to my dorm, now, anyway.

...don't you be an idiot, Espio. None of this is your fault, too.
