Loss. [Action | Front Gate]
[Not wanting to suck the life out of the quad and not feeling up to training, Snow had found himself a seat on one of the raised planters that held a few small trees and some decorative plants, out past the ID checkpoint in the landscaped area. There he sat, hands on his knees, head bowed, and thought.]
[In his right hand, he held a crystal.]
[As far as he knew... he had lost a sister. And he was amazed how much it hurt.]

[Serah really doesn't want to have this discussion, she really doesn't. But sometimes what you want and what you have to do are two different things.]
She, my sister, has never hurt me before. Sure, we've had our share of fights over the years what sister's don't? But she's never hurt me. She's always been the one protecting me!
That person - she looks like my sister, but she can't be her. She can't!
[Serah + a throw from Lightning = pain and a few bruises, after all Serah's obviously got a rather squishy mage build.]

[So beneath her, he tenses -- then shoves his coat open with one hand to dig around in the inside pockets much too hurriedly.]
no subject
Settling against him a little better, she tilts her head back to look at Snow's face.]
I'm okay, Snow. I think it was just a couple of bruises and I used a cure spell on it a while ago. It doesn't even really hurt much anymore.

[What's he pulling out? The Garden roster. He's an Instructor, after all, he has that. And he's looking through it...]
Don't tell anyone I showed you this, but -
There.
["Instructor: Claire Farron" is what he's pointing at.]

Even her official Guardian Corps forms don't have her real name on them.
[That wide-eyed look turns into a tiny frown.]
What could this mean?
no subject
I have a guess, and I really don't like it.
"Cadet: Damien Razam. Cadet: Damien Razam." A few lines higher: "Cadet: Duo Maxwell. Cadet: Duo Maxwell."]
no subject
So, she really is a different person. Isn't she.
[Not a question so much as a statement of fact, though it's still a little hard to believe.]
How can this be possible?
no subject
Maybe something like that happened here.
no subject
I'm sure that could happen, but I'm not sure that's what happened here. At least I hope not, because it's hard to believe that something said here could change my sister that much.
[Sighing, she glances down at her feet for a moment before continuing.]
A few weeks ago if someone had asked me what I was sure of I would have said you and my sister both. Because I know that no matter how hard things might get in the end you'll always be there for me.
The Lightning I know, the sister I've grown up with...would never do this no matter what someone tried to convince her of.

[He drops his hand, rosters still held loosely, to wrap it back around Serah and hold her tight again.]
Whatever happened to her... must have been horrible.
no subject
That's not something I'll ever be able to forget.
[She smiles a little as his arm tightens around her before shifting her arm so that her hand can rest on his.]
I can't even begin to imagine it. [She murmurs, shoulders drooping fractionally.] I wish there was a way to help her.
no subject
[He turns his hand palm up to twine his fingers with hers. Can't be Serah's hero without saving her sister, too -- even in these crazy circumstances.]
[After a moment, he chuckles.] I think by the end of this I'm gonna be missing the giant Pulse monsters.
no subject
You're right. It's too early to give up hope. Maybe we can make things right after all. [Though caution and staying out of arm's reach is a good thing for her to remember in the future.]
Just don't miss them too badly. [She brushes her thumb against his hand lightly.] With the way Time Compressions been acting up, who knows what might happen?
[Giant Pulse monsters on Garden, Snow vanishing and leaving her here - Serah can come up with a bunch of scenarios. None of which she actually want to happen.]
no subject
You missed when the Garden actually crashed. We had monsters and dragons and all sorts of things running around in it. That was actually pretty tame compared to Pulse.
no subject
In that case, I think I'm glad that I missed it. [She smiles after she says this, the corners of her eyes crinkling jut a tiny bit.]

It's silly, isn't it. I want to be more of a help, but the idea of actually being in a fight... [she pauses before deciding on the right thing to say.] It's kind of scary.
no subject
[It's a fond tease, not at all bothered by the turn events have taken.]
It'll be easier when you're more familiar with how to protect yourself, and casting spells and all that. Not easy, but easier.
no subject
I know you're right, but I'm still not entirely sure where to start. I've got an awful lot to learn first, I think.
[Namely the idea of training in the training center worries her, so she's just going to stick to practice in classes for the time being.]
no subject
When you're ready, we'll go out and practice, okay? We'll ask Hope or Vanille to come and go to the Training Center, or down to the beach.
[...Nothing against Sazh, but Hope and Vanille could cast healing spells.]
no subject
I think I'd rather go to the training center. I'd really rather not associate the beach with fighting and monsters anytime soon.
no subject
[Of course he punches his palm. What did you expect?]
