[It had been a while since Nepeta had been brought to this world. In all honesty she was not sure she could say how long it had been, something bordering a month if she had to venture a guess. A month full of a lot of time spent in the hospital, recovering from the brutal beating that Gamzee had given her, a month spent trying and failing to come to terms with the death of her moirail, and a month full of questions and paperwork by humans urging her to come to this strange place.

It really was enough to send any troll's head reeling, especially one so young as her. She wanted to get back up on her feet, she wanted to try and move on and make the best of her situation, but it was so hard to do when she couldn't even get herself oriented. She had always been the cheerful one amongst her group, the one others came to when they needed to get something off their chest but that was because she had always had Equius by her side. It wasn't even so much as what he did, as was just his presence that helped her stay strong through all their troubles but now he was gone, she was mysteriously in some world inhabited by humans, and no other troll in sight.

She had just come from a meeting where she had been told the rules of this place, and where she would be staying, but after that she'd been left to her own devices. At first it had seemed like a refreshing idea, it seemed she had not been allowed much time for peace of mind since she arrived in this world but now as she stood awkwardly in the lobby, watching people walking to and fro from whatever destinations she had in mind it didn't seem quite so grand.]

[Of course, Matt was easily one of those people walking back and forth. He might have walked right on by Nepeta if it hadn't been for how much she stuck out. Of course he had seen odd beings before.

Shadow was a hedgehog after all. And there were others, but this girl, she seemed a bit different in her own way.

Also she looked kind of lost. She must be new. Matt approached her with a polite smile.]

Is there anything I can help you with?

[Nepeta had been a little lost in thought, so she hadn't noticed when Matt approached. When he spoke to her, it so started her that she took an involuntary step away from him and her ears drooped down.

She studied him, a look of uncertainty in her eyes but after a moment spoke]

Um. I'm not really sure where I'm suppose to be going.

[ADKjsl he hadn't meant to startle her. He puts up his hands gently.]

S-Sorry.

Oh. You're new, right?

[Well. He seems okay so far, but hell. Gamzee seemed like the sweetest troll before and look how he ended up. Still, she doesn't really have many options. She nods.]

Yes.

[Even after all this time it still felt a little weird talking to humans face to face. Even more than that, it felt weird to talk to an adult. After all she hailed from a planet populated entirely by children.]

I see. Well, did you just arrive? I could show you how to find the dorms if you're lost.

[she nodded. She was told that was where she would be living so she was definitely curious to know what it was like. She really hoped it didn't look like the rest of this place or it would take a lot of getting use to.]

Um. Thank you! They told me my room was, ummm, B123, I think. [she'd only been half paying attention.]

It's not too hard to find the dorms from here. Actually... [And he leads her to the Computer terminal displaying the directory.]

If you look here, you can kind of find your way. It lists all the places by their corresponding halls.

[Computers were something she was familiar with, something oddly calming. Not her tablet for sure, but it would definitely be an easier way to learn more about this place.]

[Duo had been doing some reconnaissance, just checking the lay of the land since he'd been gone for a bit. Never know what can change when you're not looking after all. So it soon became obvious that she's just kind of standing there. So he walks over to check up on her since she's an unfamiliar face in an, admittedly Garden mostly full of unfamiliar faces.]

Because if that's the case I think you picked a weird place. You'd probably have better luck hanging out in the cafeteria or waiting for night and hitting up the secret area.

[He chatters on, hoping that maybe a friendly face'll pick her up a bit. Sure he can be a heartless killer when he has to be, but he honestly prefers this here aka being friendly and the like.]

[Taking a page from Cid's book, Mae is on her way out to the Quad with a small stack of books so that she can do a little work on her own lesson plans when a single cadet catches her eyes.

Now Mae's used to people looking different. Even on her own world she's been in the company of Qunari, Dwarves, Golems, and Elves after all. There's something a little different about this particular girl, not that it bothers her. Everyone deserves respect no matter what they look like after all.

So heading over to the girl she considers her options:
1. Whats's so interesting?

You look a little lost. [Mae shifts her stack of books to an easier holding style absently.] Are you okay?

You're not lost are you? I know Garden can be hard to navigate when you're new. It's the whole circular thing I think.

[Nepeta lifts her head and looks at him, a little startled and then gives a sheepish shrug of her shoulders suddenly feeling a bit shy]

Just a bit confused, I just got here.

[She's a little embarrassed to be caught staring at people the way she is, and a green blush rises to her cheeks. It is true though, she does enjoy just doing some people-watching so she gives a reluctant nod of her head. She's curious about this guy despite her general down mood. All the humans she had seen were either her age, or adults, and this guy seemed to fall somewhere in the middle.]

Not necessarily a hobby, but it is purrty fun.

[Nepeta wanted to make a good impression. As far as she knew, she was the only troll in this place so despite her own feelings she needed to be a good representative of her race.

Then again, she really had no idea how to do that. Human cultural norms still confused her to high heaven, and she knew that by the standards of her own race many would consider her a pretty terrible excuse for a troll so she wasn't really sure what being a 'good' representative would be.

Bah, what did it matter? She should just be herself.]

[It was a little strange. Nepeta had some nice friends, but they were a rarity amongst her race and she was beginning to feel that humans were the opposite of trolls. Generally nice, with a couple mean people here and there]

[she ventured a small smile, tail swishing a little behind her]

If I may ask, fur how long have you been here?

[Nepeta was surprised by suddenly being addressed. That a stranger would ask how she was doing was a little surprising so she mustered up a cheerful smile and greeted him]

I am very confused! Eheh, I just got here and this place is nothing like my own home so furrankly I have no idea what I'm suppose to be doing.

[Standing in..? Oh! She blushes green in embarrassment and shuffles back]

[She gives an embarrassed smile] Yea, actually. I just got here now.
