Saving Hope [Team Snow + Espio!]

[Stares up at the ceiling of his room, quietly contemplating about how to use his time in Garden better, when suddenly the whiteness of the ceiling starts to fade, and there is a lurch in his gut as everything around him becomes nothing but a swirl. There's constant falling until he hits a surface, loud footsteps getting closer to his proximity.

Stands up and realizes...it's...]

'Maria...'

[She tells him she needs help, that some experiment went wrong. His eyes widen, realizing what was happening.

There's no hesitation as he takes her hand and starts running with her.]

'Maria...I have to save Maria!'

(ooc: feel free to get pushed aside by him! He won't know you're there until someone speaks up! I'll wait until everyone has commented before continuing!)

[Pushed aside... not quite. Stepped on is much more accurate, as Snow jerks awake at the sudden turn of events. It's a measure of how startled he is that he actually jostles the girl in his arms.]

[Snow gets stepped on, Serah just gets jostled. Still it's more than enough to wake her up. Shifting, she reaches up to rub her eyes sleepily.] Snow? Is something wrong?

[It's not like she's gotten a look around at the situation yet after all, so she doesn't even realize that something is indeed up.]

Oi, Hedgehog! Where are you going?!

[]

Snow, Miss... I don't know your name? I dunno what's going on here, but we'd probably best go find out. Unless you wanna stick around here, and I'll go chase after him.

[There is a long, covered bridge they are running down, their footfalls echoing throughout the metal corridor. He heard shouts from behind them. One was Espio's. Glances behind him and sees the chameleon, along with two others.]

'Instructor Snow?' [He doesn't recognize the girl.

The Guardian Unit of Nations, or G.U.N., infiltrated ARK, are giving chase right behind them. NO! They couldn't let things repeat itself!

Shadow could only run so fast with Maria's speed. The escape pod is so close. They could make it. They had to! Maria would be saved.

Then, a gunshot is heard.]

MARIA!!

(ooc: the part only last til 0:36. Only 25 secs to watch!)

[Snow reacts quickly, scooping Serah up into his arms as he stands up. The AMP emblem shimmered into activity on the back of his coat, to his substantial relief -- he hadn't been wearing the thing when they'd gone to bed, of course. Why he was in it now was an awkward question at best.]

[At Espio's comment, he nods.]

Come on, Serah, I don't know what's going on, but --

[And there's what he'd swear was a PSICOM unit. No more talking. Snow shifts Serah to one tightly-wrapped arm as he starts running after.]

[If she wasn't awake before, she's awake now!

There isn't much that she can do without getting in Snow's way. So for the most part she just stays as still as possible while trying to figure out what's going on.]

Be careful. [Not that she thinks he needs the advice, but for some reason it felt like she had to say something. It's then that she hears the gunshot and she stiffens a little, eyes wide.] Was that a gun? What's going on?!

[Man, it's a good thing she's tiny compared to Snow or carrying her like this might actually be difficult.]

Time compression's hurled us somewhere, at a guess!

[]

You'd best catch up, but be on your guard! If they just shot that cadet, I'm gonna...

[Maria falls over, still conscious but...there's so much blood. Shadow is doing his best to not freak out. Once the others arrive, he realizes they're where they shouldn't be.]

'...time compression?'

[Casts Regen on Maria quickly, since doing much else isn't possible with G.U.N. around. Maria is too dazed to be confused by this, and is carried in his arms.]

We need to hold them back! There's an escape pod down here! [Shouts to the other three. Looks down to Maria, squaring his jaw.]

Hang on, Maria...

[No, it wasn't hard to carry Serah. He swings her around onto his back.]

Stay safe, Serah.

[He won't dare tell her not to help, but she better not get hurt. Snow gathers a ball of energy into his left hand, then hurls the Blizzara into the gathered soldiers as he crashes on through.]

Don't worry about me Snow, I'll be okay.

[Trying to be useful while holding Onto Snow's back isn't exactly easy. With some work she holds on with one hand and manages to use the other to bring up a cure spell for the unfamiliar girl. It's pretty much all she can do, it's not like she's had time to learn the more advanced spells after all.

After that she sets out to prove that she's a great little synergist, throwing up protects as quickly as she can for everyone in the little group. It's probably too little too late, but she has to do something.]

So, what have these guys got against you?

[

I was created.

[And that's all the answer Espio gets as he nods to them for the help. He runs down the hallway with Maria, reaching the escape pod. The control panel has a sea of flashing buttons and various other components that made it up. It has been too long since he used the ARK's technology, and has no time to fiddle around.]

Shadow, I'll set the coordinates...

[Looks to her, hesitating a moment, before nodding and sets her onto her feet. She wavers from the loss of blood, but the spells are still working. He sticks nearby her, just in case.

How long would this take? [If they need to buy her some time...

The door to the escape pod opens moments later.]

Not long. Two minutes at most.

[So much could happen in two minutes...]

I got this. You keep her safe.

[Snow swings Serah down to her feet with the others, then turns to face the hallway as he lifts his left hand with a little smile.]

S'been a while. Hope you're up to this.

[He takes a step forward, holding his hand out, palm upwards. The brand on his wrist shines as a crystal bursts out of his palm, arcing up for him to catch in his right hand.]

Shiva!

[He crushes the crystal, tossing its energy forward (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYDcdglxlHk&feature=player_detailpage#t=86s). The blue-white cold condenses into ball, then shatters to release the Eidolon sisters.]

Let's cool 'em off, girls.

[Serah just stands there and stares for a little bit. She's heard about the Shiva Sisters from Snow and she's heard about GFs in class, but seeing the Shiva Sisters in person is just something else.]

They're beautiful. [Thankfully Serah's brain isn't too pervy so the whole gestation thing won't draw much of a response from her ~~when it happens~~.

For now Serah makes sure to stay out of the way, waiting for a chance to do something useful.]

[]

So they're just gonna shoot whoever's in the general vicinity?! And you thought I was crazy!

You might be competition. [He's bad at jokes.]

[Maria makes a sound of triumph as she finishes with the coordinates and set up.]

Everyone! Get inside! Quickly!

[Brings out a fire spell and launches it at the soldiers, hoping to create confusion and give them all a bit of time to get into the escape pod.]

You heard her! I'll hold them off! [Dashes to the forefront of the battle, casting Blind to a few soldiers.

[A punishing fusillade of ice and water spells erupt through the soldiers' ranks, courtesy of Snow and his guardians. Even the magically weakest l'cie are strong compared to normal humans, and now as a SeeD Snow made a policy of maintaining strong Junctions.]

She said everyone, Shadow! Get back here and get IN here!

[He steps back towards the door of the pod, using his mass as a shield. Those bullets that wing his way thud into his coat, and the dampened injuries they inflict quickly vanish under the Eidolon's healing.]

[Serah doesn't have to be told twice, she heads toward the indicated pod at a run. It's her experience that while she'd rather make sure everyone is safe, Snow typically would stubbornly wait until she and everyone else is safe too. At least this time she can use a little magic to help him while she watches and waits.

Not that he seems to need the help as the two Shiva sisters seem to be doing that quite well without help.]

You too Snow, we're not leaving without both of you.

Much as I hate to run away... Hedgehog! Get back here and let's go!

You too, Maria.

[]

[Shoots them a look. He can take care of himself. The forces that followed them there are out of commission, leaving them with just getting every person into the escape pod. Rushes over to Maria, taking her hand.]

We have to go. Now.

I'll be right there!

[Nods and gets inside with the rest of them as Maria sets the timer on the escape pod door. Just then, more back up comes in and opens fire on them. Shadow watches in horror as Maria slowly began to fall. The door closes right as he tries to leave again.]

NO! MARIA! [Bangs on the glass, but it wouldn't budge.] MARIA!

Shadow, I beg of you, please, do it for me...for a better future!

[The light starts to fade from her eyes, as she continues as best she can. He slides to his knees, unable to tear his eyes away.]

For all the people who live on that planet...give them a chance to be happy. Let them live for their dreams. Shadow, I know you can do it. That's...the reason...why you were brought into...this world...

...Maria...no...not again...

[The escape pod dropped them into space, where everything faded to black.]

MARIA!
