[It had taken Kurt longer than he would've liked to gather everything he'd needed for the preparation class, to be honest, but he supposed that it wasn't any harder than gathering stuff for himself at home; he'd simply had to find a lot more of it, just in case quite a few cadets showed up.

He'd stuck the sign outside the door and made sure to put a note on the BBS as to where and what time, and was currently just sifting through the things he had.

While the material, thread, scissors, and such made perfect sense, the rest of the supplies would be a bizarre mash up to anyone unfamiliar to his skills. Gems and jewels of all shapes and sizes, some glowing, some not, bowls of dust and small orbs, and even a few things floating about the table that seemed to defy explanation. By these were quite a few rods, all glowing softly and laid out in a careful row.

At the moment, Kurt is turning over one of the rods in his hand, giving it a last-minute inspection as he waits for anyone interested to show up.]

Ah well. I know what it does, I just don't know how it does it. I got these off the Moon, so I couldn't exactly consult the blacksmith.

[Obligingly, Edge draws Murasame and Masamune. The paired weapons are like moonlight and shadow, clearly unearthly, light enough to cut the air itself. He slides his grip up the hilts to offer them over.]

[He runs his armored hands lightly along the weapons, focusing intently. After a few moments, he offers them back.]

I'm sorry. They're incredibly powerful, beyond many things I've seen, but I can't tell you more than that.

[He accepts the blades, resheathing them easily.]

So, what CAN you do to enchant things, then?

[Mikuru turns up as promised. The sewing materials are familiar enough from her home ec class, so she gravitates to the jewels. Ooh, shiny.]

There isn't much I can break. [Her tone is slightly self deprecating. Despite her words, Mikuru is very careful when she takes the gem and holds it gingerly in both hands. She shivers a little.]

I'm Mikuru Asahina. [And she is trying not to stare.]

[Kurt ignores her stare -- he's used to it, and a curious one doesn't bother him anyway.]

It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Instructor Dragonsblood.

[He notices how she holds it, then picks up a gem, slamming it against the desk as hard as he can before showing it to Mikuru. Not even a scuff on it.]

Trust me. You can't break it.

[She cringes at the bang of the gem on the table, but tries to pretend she didn't.]

What are they for...? When it comes to tailoring and enchanting.

The gems and such are for enchanting only. We can use them on what we sew, but we have to actually sew and finish it first.

[His tone is amused, and he puts the gem back then pats some of the cloth.]

We'll just be sewing basic clothing. As for using the materials, they can be used on most anything, so we'll be using anything you -- or anyone else -- brought or makes.

First, explain what "enchanting" means. It's one of those words that can mean a number of things - what do you mean by it?

Imbuing a weapon, piece of clothing, or piece of armor with an effect that assists the wielder or wearer.

Sounds similar to what the Soul Smiths do. Next up - examples. To what kind of extent can these new properties help in battle? What enchantments do you favour, for example?

Mmm, most anything. If you can think it, I can probably put something at least similar to it.

I, myself, prefer weapons enchanted to burn or poison, and armor enchanted to be harder than steel.
