[Bulla is in the quad, looking visibly upset. She's not crying and she's not punching anything, but there's a frown on her face. Flopping down to sit with a huff, she wraps her arms around her knees.

Her excursion into town to make reservations for her birthday went badly. It's not the reservations that are the issue - she got those just fine. It's something that transpired right after that has her frustrated with humanity. When a woman was sick in the streets, not only did no one else offer to help her, but someone decided to use the opportunity to snatch the woman's purse and run. Although Bulla stopped the purse snatcher and got the ill woman to a doctor, she's still not feeling very good about the incident.]

What is wrong with people?! Honestly.

[There's a small sigh as she twirls some hair around one finger.]

Was it that hard for someone to go and help her?

But she was sick, and some guy tried to run off with her purse. Even if they were worried about him being armed or something, they could have at least stopped to help her.

...I guess expecting people to act like decent human beings is too much sometimes.

I can assure you they were acting like human beings. Decent however, is probably subjective.

They just...stopped and gawked. The most help anyone else offered was giving me directions to a doctor when I asked for them. And that was probably only because they saw me feed the purse thief's front teeth to him with my fist, first.

That's as human as it gets. If it means losing someone else and keeping themselves alive, then by all means continue ignoring the victims.

Of course they'd help you -- you'd do the same if they turned down your request for assistance.

These are civilians you're talking about. The only beliefs they hold is survival of the fittest.

I stopped into town today to make reservations for my birthday party and this lady was sick...like stumbling around, disoriented...and the one person who approached her before I did only did it to grab her purse and try running away with it.

[Bulla huffs.]

There were plenty of people around and I'm the only one who did anything.

[She nods a little, understanding her frustration all too well. After all it was a similar feeling that had sparked her joining the Timber Owls after all.]

Isn't that what matters though? That somebody did something in the end?

[Rinoa offers Bulla a small smile.]

That someone saw what was going on and did something even if no one else did? Because as long as there's that one things will always work out in the world. Don't you think?

I guess, but I'm still pretty disappointed in people for not even stopping to help the lady. I get not going after the purse thief - he could have been armed.

They were all content to just stand back and watch me deal with everything.

I'd hoped by defeating the sorceress and loosening Galbadia's control that would change. I guess it's not quite as easy to change as I thought.

[She continues to smile though, refusing to be anything but positive on the matter.]

I'm sure someone who saw you went home thinking about what you did, Bulla. Then one day when they see someone else in trouble they might stop to help too, thinking about how you did.

This lady was sick and disoriented and stuff...and then this one guy grabbed her purse and ran off with it. I stopped him, and got the lady to a doctor. So it worked out in the end. What I don't get is the part where none of them even stopped to ask her if she needed help.

There was this lady who was sick and disoriented...she could have been having a stroke or been going into diabetic shock or something. Nobody stopped to help her. The only person who approached her before me was a creep who tried to steal her purse.

I was so angry that I ran and chased him down...and. Um. Well, it's nothing that a cura spell and some dental work won't fix. I got the lady to a doctor, too. But nobody even helped at all until I asked for directions to a doctor's office.
