[Tuesday, Jan 11th, Lunch, Cafeteria]

[Luke is in the cafeteria, with the translating collar thinger stuck to his neck: it seems to do a pretty good job of telling others what he is saying, but isn't much help as far as Luke barely understanding any English so far.

Still, he is good spirits, and happy to be free of classes for a little while. He'd only arrived last night, and was late getting to all of his classes today, so he hadn't had a chance to meet anyone, really.

With a tray of food in hand, he looks for a place to sit, or people to talk to. Or maybe just people to listen to. To listen at? Ugh, stupid English.]

[People don't sit near Shanoa, or to be more accurate, she doesn't sit near people. It's just extremely awkward, you know. She still hasn't gotten used to the food in this place (why is it called a hot dog? It looks nothing like a dog), and as a result, has been eating a bit slowly. She looks up and sees Luke]

Your food will get cold if you continue to stand there.

[In the bustle of the cafeteria, Luke only realizes the pretty black haired girl is talking to him when he finds her looking straight at him. He hadn't understood what she'd said, and her look wasn't exactly welcoming, but it didn't look like she was telling him to buzz off either, so he approaches her table]

Hey. Sorry, I couldn't understand you, but.... can I sit here?

[Shanoa's grasp of English was rather...outdated, to put it politely, and she couldn't understand what half the things people here said. She understood the boy's difficulty. She nods to let him know he's welcome. There's plenty of room for him to choose a seat.]

[That is apparently enough for Luke, he brightens and takes a seat across from her at the table. This girl kind of reminded him of Tear. Maybe quiet, but still nice]

[Luke? A very simple, but nice name. It's one that was fairly common where she came from.]
