[event action] backdated to yesterday I suppose?

[When Garden had taken its rough tumble along the snowy grounds, Squall had been standing at the window in his 3F office looking out at the passing white-covered foliage. The announcement had been made immediately after he'd braced himself against the window frame, having jolted forward upon impact.

The lights and all power had been lost, the only light being from what was outside as it filtered into his office.]

...What now?

[He can only imagine the panic beginning down on the main level and sets off with Lion Heart in hand, leaving the office. He doesn't wait for the elevator, instead he takes the emergency exit stairs off to the left of the corridor and lets himself out onto the 2F to assess any 'damage'.

Well. The only 'damage' there is are the monsters running around on their rampage. So he stands there to take everything in and then moves forward to help those in need with disposing any of the monsters.]

Gakupo had already gone through the trauma of the abrupt landing, and is currently peeling open his door. He made double sure to open the windows to let the light through the darkness and take what he needed, that being his sword and magic.

Now people are running towards him in fear. ALKDJLK--he brings himself to flatten against the wall as they ran by. Once they do, he wonders just what they were running from--

Then he hears it. Or more like them. The flutter of wings that is unmistakably not just belonging to one creature. He backs up, hand moving to the hilt of his sword and pulling it out with a ring. It doesn't take long for about three Bite Bugs to turn the corner. He widens his eyes in surprise before they narrow. New creatures he's never seen in a swarm in a dark hallway. SIGH. So much for a nice vacation.]

[It's a little hard to miss the swish of long, purple hair and the distinct ring of a sword being unsheathed. Squall catches sight of it and recognizes the long-haired cadet immediately. He quickly makes his way over and cuts through the first two beasts headed in Gakupo's direction.]

Are you alright?

[Blinks a bit at seeing two of the three enemies disappear before noticing the person responsible. He nods softly with a smile of appreciation.]

Commander. [He'd salute, but thinks it's best to keep an eye on the last one. He rushes forward and uses the wall as leverage to jump and slash down on the last Bite Bug, a light tone cutting across the air as it went through the monster. Huh. It wasn't so tough.

Turns to Squall and offers a late salute.] I'm fine, thank you. It's a mess in here, though. Anything I can assist with?

[Squall returns the salute with a curt nod and casts a look around the area.]

You're doing just fine.

Thank you, sir. I'll try to keep up the good work. Do watch yourself, though.

[Looks to the gunblade, and his own, well...colorful and noisy sword. Inadequate moment right here.]

I'd better get a move on...

[Another nod.]

Watch yourself out there.

[There's a half-human, half blue phoenix flying by him to kick things down, but seeing as the Commander's got it under control, Marco just nods.]

Commander. [He'll still never get used to that word not meaning the 16 of his crew.]

[Squall glances over and steps back in his brief moment of surprise. Was that...?]

Cadet. [He returns the nod then, gunblade slashing through one of the beasts.] Everything alright?

Yup. [Steadies down the blue flames for a bit since it seems to bug some of the teachers, he should just go hang out with Rinoa.]

Looking for anyone who fell along the way to take them back to the infirmary. Let me know if you find any, eh?

Right. [Another nod.]

Just give a loud whistle. [Quiet laugh.] So long as you don't mind the attention from monsters of course.

I can handle them, don't worry.

So I figured, eh.

I'm more than positive you can handle yourself as well.

I wouldn't be able to keep my family safe otherwise. [Although how much he'd managed that was debatable since they were down his three biggest pillars of support, but out of a crew of 1600...]

[Nods.]

[He's enjoying his place at the back of the scene. Normally Seifer would be comfortable taking the lead in such a situation, but not this time. The sight of Squall putting himself at the front of the pack brings back all those past memories, all that dislike. Maybe he might show off this time around, put the current Commander to shame.]

I see you've finally manned up, Commander.

Bet the chaos are just perfect for you.

[How could it have slipped his mind that Seifer had returned? He'd heard about it through the Headmaster and had stewed over it in his office for a few hours before accepting it, that Seifer was there to stay and that with his stay they'd more than likely end up with some trouble because of that.

Squall tries not to scowl in his direction. Now was not the time for Seifer's attitude.]

If you're not going to help the rest of us, you shouldn't be here.

Oh I'll help. Wouldn't want the precious commander to worry over that.

[He sneers with that, and the tone surrounding commander is obvious.]

Wouldn't want to take away the glory of saving the Garden from someone who might need it more than I do.

[Yeah right. He'll be up and running as soon as someone realizes they're completely in over their head.]

[Brow twitch.]

I don't have time for this.

[Oh he's enjoying this, even if they're in the middle of death and destruction of the Garden.]

You'll make time for a group of harmless monsters but not an old friend? I'm disappointed.

We're hardly friends, Seifer.

Even after all we've been through? When you know me better than anyone else here?

We could always have another sparring session, reaffirm that old friendhip if you prefer. I'm sure you could use another scar somewhere else.

[Brow twitch; he tightens his grip on Lion Heart's handle.]

I know you're a traitor to Garden, and that the Headmaster can be sometimes too forgiving in some cases.

Or perhaps the Headmaster is willing to see through all of that. I hear things might be changing around here. If it's for the worse-- well, you'll be glad I'm on your side this time around.

Just like you were the first time? [Snorts. Don't make him laugh, Seifer. Really, Squall doesn't do laughter.]

Perhaps. There's mistakes I'd admit to, and there's mistakes I won't. Besides, it comes at a cost of pursuing your dream. You know all about that, don't you?

You need to wake up, Seifer. You're living twenty years in the past if you think your dreams are relevant to the way things are now.

I don't see how they'd change, Squall. Consequences might be different this time around, but how I act and how I handle these changes are still the same. I'm not going to bend over backwards for anyone but myself.

[Oh! The commander! Nina runs through her recent activities. With a block of classrooms and the infirmary secure, she simply salutes him.]

Any orders, Commander?

Assist the cadets. Rid Garden of the stray monsters. That's all we can do for now.

Nice to see you, Commander.

[Ryu turns away from a monster he just finished off, emitting a low whistle when he catches sight of Lion Heart.]

I don't think I've seen you fight yet.

[He nods in return to the greeting and then uses some of the magic he has stocked up to take out one of the monsters coming up to attack Ryu from behind, casting Blizzaga to finish it off.]

Always double check your surroundings after you've made your kill. There could be more.

[He nods, no real way to save face on that one.]

Snow has the Infirmary barricaded, he asked me to send anyone I find in that direction. I've been doing my best to make sure the area leading there stays clear.

You're doing good so far. [He's trying to be encouraging, and offers a brief smile.]

Keep it up.

I'll just be glad when this mess is over. At least it's not another exam.

Take care of yourself, Commander. I'm going to check the dorms one more time.

[That smile does earn Squall a double-take. Ryu didn't think it was possible he COULD smile.]
