[ Today, October 4th, finds Minako being more cheerful and lively than usual, if just the slightest bit forgetful -- appearing distracted and absorbed in her thoughts when not in conversation with anyone.

From evening to midnight, to finish off the day, she's tucked herself away in a corner of the Training Center, music blasting in her ears as she evades, spins and slashes down a Grat before finishing it off with a Fire magic.

Without breaking sweat and seemingly on auto-pilot, she immediately moves away from the defeated creature to seek another one.

Bother her now? During the day, during classes? Both? Go for it o/ ]

[He pulls away only long enough to look up (only slightly up) at her, questioningly. Whether it's in response to her 'knowing' or him wondering who needs comforting isn't entirely clear, but to clarify that would involve removing his arms from around her, and while he wouldn't consciously admit it, he kind of... likes that.

Just not in these circumstances.]

[ She pulls back, not intentionally but to pull down her other headphone and switch her MP3 off. Thinking his response is to the second statement, Minako says, ] It's a secret. Sorry, Rion.

[Rion's next action seems entirely out of character for him; his expression changes quickly, from concern to "AAAA WHAT THE CRAP", and the arms that were just hugging the taller girl go to shoving her to the side, somewhat forcefully (as forcefully as one can get for being 5'0" and having very little muscle mass.

Minako is welcome to interpret this as him having a tantrum, or ... er, maybe it has something to do with the Grat that is attempting to snake a vine around her, having found a pair of people who have been somewhat unaware of what's been going on for the past several minutes.

It's probably the latter.]

[ Rion's expression alerts her immediately, even as she's pushed aside. She spins quickly, hands placed in position on the naginata, but Rion is too close to the Grat and she's not sure she can aim well from where she stands. ]

Rion, get down!

[ She steps to the side, approaching the monster from the back, slashing her naginata at it. ]

[Rion steps back - he's more startled by how quickly she's able to react, and nearly falls backward while going for his whip. In the amount of time it's going to take him to do that, she'll have enough time to swing, probably swing again, and then strike a pose.

Rion is not what one would call 'good' at combat.]

[ Maybe it's the fatigue starting to set in, or maybe because, with the adrenaline, she's not too concerned for her own safety but Minako doesn't notice at all (or even flinch) the Grat's tentacle striking the side of her arm before she defeats it.

They were lucky it wasn't a dinosaur, this much she knows. Quickly, she turns to Rion. ] Are you okay?

[He doesn't even say anything, holding a hand up to her for her to stop, and immediately does the one thing he knows he's really, really good at.

He's done enough drawing that this won't be a problem at all, and his casting of Cure is impressive in that it looks more like a teacher casting it than a student - there's no uncertainty, no hesitation in his movements, in the effect at all, and it seems... er, surprisingly effective considering that it's a student casting it.

Sorry, Minako, he's too busy fretting over you to actually answer your question.]

Ah... [ Oh, hey, small wound. ] Oh! Thanks, Rion! What about you? Are you hurt?

[Rion shakes his head, then responds, pulling his hands back to sign.]

Thank you. [His fingers start to move again, slightly, as if he's about to say something else, but he thinks better of it and just lets them fall to his sides again.]

[ Sigh of relief. ] That's good... [ Quickly glances around again, wondering if that Grat was alone. But she says, lightly, ] At least it wasn't a dinosaur!

[Another look around, and Rion seems satisfied that there's nothing else around of danger. For now, anyway. He looks down at his wrist, and then winces a little bit - it's a lot later than he'd expected.]

It's late. Are you still here more?

[ She glances at her own watch, noting the time and then nods. ]

Yes! I slept a little too much yesterday.

[... see, on the one hand, it's late and he doesn't really want to go back. On the other, he doesn't want to ... not take advantage of being alone with her. It's a hard decision.]

Class tomorrow, though. [All concerned-like at her.]
