[ Today, October 4th, finds Minako being more cheerful and lively than usual, if just the slightest bit forgetful -- appearing distracted and absorbed in her thoughts when not in conversation with anyone.

From evening to midnight, to finish off the day, she's tucked herself away in a corner of the Training Center, music blasting in her ears as she evades, spins and slashes down a Grat before finishing it off with a Fire magic.

Without breaking sweat and seemingly on auto-pilot, she immediately moves away from the defeated creature to seek another one.

Bother her now? During the day, during classes? Both? Go for it o/ ]

[ Definitely not hearing him over the song currently playing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXKqFmpgvC0).

But, she does feel the slight tremors on the ground. Was she so tired that the world seemed as though it was trembling. Cautiously, she pulls her headphones down and glances around, trying to discover the source.

Minako jumps when a sudden loud roar rings out and backs away from the direction, just as a T-Rexaur steps through.

Dinosaur. A dinosaur. She blinks, mouth opened as she gapes. ]

[The unwelcome arrival gives Ryu pause as well. He's seen and fought some big creatures back home, but this one almost resembled one of his dragon forms. There were no other Brood alive, or at least who had their powers. That much was discovered at Dragnier.

If he wasn't mistaken, this thing thought they both looked remarkably tasty. Ryu stepped forward with his sword drawn. Worst came to worst, he'd have to blow his cover if his blade wasn't enough.]

I didn't think anything this big could grow naturally...

[ When she hears footsteps, Minako half-turns, noting the other person out of the corner of her eyes while keeping the dinosaur in sight. She eyes his sword for a quick moment and then gives a quick nod. ] It's a dinosaur. [ ...or was it? It was far smaller than she thought actual dinosaurs would be.

She held her naginata up, ready for combat. The idea of a challenge was -- it sounded fun. She was getting tired of the Grats too.

Before she can say anything else, it lunges. She steps back, evading its claws, while waiting for an opportunity to counter. ]

[Of course, this was a military school. People wouldn't run from something as tall as a house with rows of teeth.]

Nothing like this back home!

[His first thought was to their safety. Retreating far back enough to get a little distance, it only took him a minute or so to cast his Shield spell. It wouldn't stop an attack completely, but it could lessen the impact of whatever the beast threw at them. While Minako had its attention, his sword returns to his hand while looking for an opportunity to attack.]

They're extinct back home for me!

[ She's seen and fought Shadows far large than this, just nothing as loud. Minako switches her Persona to one more agile, wondering if she should risk summoning it. ...but not when it's this close and still after her.

Sidestepping an attack, she swiped at the dinosaur with her blade and quickly dodged as it attempted to retaliate. ]

Any ideas?

[If he can avoid it, staying far from those teeth seemed a sound plan as any. His blade was poised to strike the dinosaur's leg. If anything, maybe he could slow it down and stop it from chasing Minako.]

If we could stun it for just a moment...

I can summon my ... GF to do some damage! But--

[ She had to stop and focus and the dinosaur wasn't letting her do that. Casting a quick Thunder spell, Minako frowned when it didn't seem to do much damage. It had to be weak to something, right? That this creature could be found in the Training Center had to mean it wasn't undefeatable. If only she could figure out what it was...

Could she ask the other person to distract the dinosaur? She was dodging well, maybe if she could find a quick opportunity... ]

[He looked at the dinosaur, then back at Minako. It was gonna take a pretty heavy hit to draw its attention away from the poor girl.]

Desperate times call for desparate measures...

[He couldn't jump that high, but a shot at the face could piss it off... The energy from before came surging back to life in his body. A black dome of crackling energy covered his form, and shattered away like glass. What stood there now wasn't entirely human, but not a complete dragon either.

His upper body was still human, but his fingers had changed to sharp claws, a tail and set of wings appeared where none was before, and his feet were wider with three, sharp toes. Speed is what was called for here.]

That's better...

[With one flap of his wings, he was off in the air. He circled back to gain speed, then swooped back in with his right hand raised, striking with a heavy punch close to the creature's eye. He could have used fire breath to do more damage, but it would have risked harm to Minako.]

[ ...it was something out of a manga. Or a video game. She stares for a second, bewildered, amazed. Only when the dinosaur starts chasing after him -- was he a dragon? A gargoyle? He looked like one -- does she realise it's up to her.

Not thunder. Another element? Or was it safer to use something non-elemental? Better safe than sorry.

She lowers her naginata, places her right hand on her chest to steady herself. ]

Helel!

[ Said Persona (http://i54.tinypic.com/eolz6.png) appears above her head, raises one hand -- and light glows around the dinosaur, enveloping it in an explosion of magic, one that Minako keeps purposefully small as she doesn't know if it'll affect the other person.

The explosion of light leaves nothing behind, as if the dinosaur had never been there. Minako smiles as her Persona fades away and plants the end of her naginata down on the ground when she feels lightheaded from the summoning. ]

[He floated a good distance away from the spell. Minako wasn't the only one bewildered by what just happened. That was magic he had never seen before, even here.]

Remind me not to tick you off...

[He floated to the ground, glancing in her direction from a safe distance.]

With all the commotion, we should probably go before asking questions. I don't feel like finding out if that thing has family.

[ She laughs, a little in relief. ] Don't worry about it! I don't get mad easily. [ She glances around them, though, but even if she hears and sees nothing, she has a suspicion that the dinosaur probably was not the only of its kind here. Nodding in response, she starts walking towards him. ]

The exit? I don't think the dinosaurs would hang out near it.

That sounds good... Just in case anyone else is here, though.

[He stops in his tracks, letting out a few slow, calming breaths. His outer dragon form begins to dissolve, revealing his human form beneath it.]

No need to draw more attention.

[ The walk clears her head, settles her thoughts. Minako waits patiently as he returns to his original form. ]

I know you, right? I think we share some classes together. [ She thinks about it for a second. ] Garden Code, Dance and Sign Language classes on odd days? Even if this is the first time speaking to each other. I'm Minako Arisato.

Yeah, I remember seeing you. My name is Ryu.
