president loire weekend visit - open to everyone

[It's been a while, Laguna thinks to himself, casually strolling the main level of Balamb Garden with his arms over his chest, a curious expression on his face, boyish eagerness. The Headmaster was too kind, inviting him for the weekend to discuss in person the events between the Gardens, Esthar, and Galbadia.

As casually as he's strolling, he's dressed as equally as casual in a pair of beige khakis and pale blue dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The past twenty years have been, surprisingly, good to him. He still thinks he doesn't look a day over twenty-seven!

While he knows Balamb Garden like the back of his hand, he still stops at the navigation to page through it, and then looks towards the elevator. The very same one that would take him to see his son on the 3F. But Laguna shakes his head.

No. He can see Squall later.]

Poor kid's probably bogged down with work anyways.

[mod note; Because Laguna wasn't affected by the Time Compression - instead of being 44, he's actually 64. He doesn't look at all like it, but he is. :(]

Do you need any help? [Ryu's just passing by, tackle box and fishing rod in tow. This weekend is his first big fishing trip, but that doesn't mean he'll ignore a visitor.]

[Minato tends to pass by the directory even on weekends, if only to see if there are new arrivals trying to guess how to operate the thing.

The person he sees today is a curious one - even knowing how there are some students who hide their age in order to be considered eligible, this one looks just beyond the age limit. What's more, he's dressed too casually to be faculty (even the Magic teacher favors a dapper suit over anything informal).

...well, might as well ask if he needs help. For all he knows, the man's a potential client.]

Good morning, sir. Can I help you?

[Laguna looks up at the Cadet and tilts his head, eying him then eying the fishing equipment.]

Oh! No no, I'm just reminiscing. With the uh- with the navigation!

[The president reaches out to pat the top of it.]

Laguna squints and leans down to read the question. Then straightens and smiles warmly.]

I don't have any paper on me, drat...

[Still smiling he shakes his head and gestures to the navigation.]

[There's a knowing little smile on his lips.]

I just might... Although he's not exactly a student.

Laguna looks over and crosses his arms over his chest.]

But Laguna again shakes his head, still smiling.]

[Laguna begins to laugh, his shoulders shaking first followed then by the sound of rich laughter.

There's a little twinkle in his eyes now.]

I wouldn't say that. Not when he looks more like his mother than me.

Just looking, huh? Well, no better time than the weekend for that.

[Of course, he knows it would be more convenient, for someone not from Garden, to look around on weekdays, when all the cadets are busy in classes, unless he were also looking for someone who's also busy on weekdays.]

[She's adorable. Laguna wants to just wrap her up in a blanket and take her back to Esthar with him!

He leans down to read her message then sees her smile. Now he REALLY wants to take her home with him, poor girl.]

That's too bad! You probably have a wonderful voice.

Laguna's brows shoot up and he puts his hands on his hips.]

I gotta hand it to you- you're good.

[He begins to laugh again. This kid is good.]

[He actually looks in his early 30s, but Minato knows better than to say that.]

It's always paperwork, paperwork, paperwork. I'm beginning to think he sleeps at his desk sometimes.

[Rinoa peers up over Laguna's shoulder with an amused smile before rocking back on her heels. Holding her hands together behind her back, she tilts her head and gives him a close look over. He doesn't look particularly different from when she'd seen him last which is pretty surreal.]

How long are you going to be here? I'm sure Selphie'd be really happy to see you again.
