(ooc: I meant to post this ages ago and for one reason or another just haven't gotten around to it yet. This is backdated ~~forever and ever and ever ago~~ to after this post)

[Rinoa sits curled around Angelo in a shady, tree filled corner of the Quad, her face buried in the dog's furry ruff as she just sits and well pouts? Mopes? Sulks? Cries? There were any number of words that could be used to describe her current behavior and most of them fit. However, if someone were to look for it they'd see the tell-tale sign of tear tracks on the cadets face as well as the dampened portions of Angelo's fur ~~but thankfully not enough to trigger much of a damp dog scent.~~

Her face still buried against the dog her voice was muffled as she voiced her complaint, thinking that only Angelo could hear her.]

Why's he such a jerk?

[Maybe she had taken some things for granted and just assumed they were true, but he didn't have to be so cold about it. It was becoming painfully clear that what meant the world to her was more or less nothing to him. The more she thought about it the more it hurt and the more upset she became. ]

[Anyone's more than welcome to stop by and bother girl and dog new and old CR alike.]

[He doesn't mean to! Honest!

Gakupo turns at the voice and sleeve tug, not expecting her to follow. He blinks at her rambling, but takes it in, listening and nodding. He wasn't aware that Squall knew Rinoa that well. Enough to make her mad at him, anyway.] Kind of like...you feel helpless to shake it off? Very nasty, indeed...

[He doesn't mind her holding onto his sleeve longer than usual. A bit used to it. His smile is brighter than the one he gave earlier.] It's still nice to meet you, Rinoa.

Still icky? Well, it's definitely a sensation I won't be forgetting anytime soon. [Wry smile, but it falters slightly.] But the fact that it's real is what makes it so scary.

[Hmph. Sure he doesn't.

Basically it had sunk in that she's still acting a little like Squall again and since she's still furious at her knight, she's doing her best to act as differently from him as possible. ~~So she might emulate Selphie just a tiny bit.~~]

I had nightmares about it for a while afterwards, I just couldn't help it. Just knowing that at any time she could just slip right back into my mind and make me do things I didn't want to do again...it's not something I want to relive.

[She makes a good natured face at his wording and shakes her head.] Icky. Like your head's dirty somehow and there's just no way to get it clean again.

[She sighs, looking down.] I don't know how it happened, but I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's not something I would wish on anyone.

I don't blame you for having nightmares. It's not the most pleasant of experiences. [Frowns and places a hand on her shoulder in a friendly manner. He's not trying to hit on you!] You don't have to apologize for me seeing your past. I can't say it happens, but it can't be helped.

[Takes back his hand.] Since I've not experienced such a feeling, it does leave a residue, but it helps to think of more positive things to make it go away. At least for now. [Smiles softly.]

Oh, I know that. I just don't think anyone should have to live through all that, that's all. [The touch is reassuring and friendly so she doesn't mind.] I just wish it had been something that wasn't quite so horrible, that's all.

[She nods, understanding what he means.] I don't think anyone could ever get used to that, not that I can figure out why they'd want to experience it often enough so that it doesn't bother them.

[Raises an eyebrow and smirks.] Oh? And what kind of memory would be less horrible?

[He's teasing, of course, but feel free to answer.]

I'll survive. [Smiles.] If I didn't, I'm sure I would be a disgrace to my family.

[There were definitely masochists in the world, but he doubts they'd like a mind trip like the one he had. His smile fades before humming softly.] Only someone with darkness in their souls could, I assume.

Almost any other memory but that one? Meeting Squall for the first time would have at least been a nice memory to have, not something that's all tainted and icky.

[She shakes her head.] Just because you'll survive doesn't mean you'll be okay. [She knew that better than people tended to think she did.]

[Rinoa nods at his next assumption, wrapping her arms around herself with a sigh.] That's no one I'd want to be, that's for sure.

True enough.

[Nods softly, giving her a wry smile.] You got me there. But I'm sure I can find a good listener if I'm not okay about it. [Smirks knowingly.]

I believe you. I could see that with my own eyes. But as long as you have that notion in your heart, then you surely won't, especially if you don't want to. [He disliked seeing her so...uncomfortable, so disheartened.] Rinoa, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'll listen. Anytime. Or I could sing you a song.

[...what? Songs help!]

Yeah. [She smiles softly, not looking at anything in particular as her fingers thread through Angelo's fur idly. (Since it's not like the dog was about to leave her mistress anytime in the near future after all.)] Talking to other people helps sometimes, and others just being around people, especially people you care about, really helps too.

I hope not, it's something I'll have to work on and make sure of my entire life. [Which could be pretty long, sorceresses apparently can live longer than normal people for some reason.

Still his offer makes her pause and she looks at him appraisingly.]

You'll sing me a song? [As the daughter of a musician, it's always held a special place in her life even if she's never admitted this to anyone. Music makes her feel closer to her mother.

She's the worst critic ever though, just as a warning.]

That it does. I have only a few friends here, but they are important to me, nonetheless.

[Gives her a small nod at her question.] Any song you'd like. You may need to teach me the words and such, but I'll do my best. [Crosses his arms with a smug smile.] It's my profession, after all.

Which makes sense. Friends are supposed to be important after all, right?

[She's a little surprised by the news, but the idea of listening to music from another world is certainly intriguing.] Then sing me a song, your favorite, from back on your world.

Of course!

[He hadn't expected a request, but who was he to deny one? It doesn't take him long to come up with his favorite from his home world. Each time he heard it, sung it, it made him feel relaxed, at peace. As he sings, he moves with the tune in his head, closing his eyes in a sign that he's getting into the song. Forgive him.

When he finishes, he opens his eyes, unable to help the smile that was on his face.] So?

[Really now. Singing a song to someone and then closing your eyes so you can't see their reaction is just plain bad form. Rinoa's not impressed with you Gakupo.The song isn't that bad though, but you're still only getting maybe a B for this performance.

When he finishes she shakes her head a little.]

It's not bad, but you can still use some work I think.

[She's teasing, but she does mean it. Performance skills are important.]

[Gakupo is sporting a wide smile at her reply before laughing.]

You sound quite like my manager, except less harsh. [Crosses his arms, not looking all that displeased.] It would be dull work if I couldn't improve! Please, don't be afraid to say more. A performer should have tough skin you know.
