[Toph's dragging her feet along, her arm idly wiping at her nose. She's sick, and she refuses to go see the doctor. THANK YOU SOKKA FOR BREATHING ON HER. She swears that she's going to go lick everything in his room now. For serious.

She finds a bench to sit on, then drapes herself on it, arms hanging over the arm rest. She's miserable.]

[Katara is sitting beneath a tree of the Quad doing homework when she chances a look upwards. Her eyes catch sight of a familiar mop of black hair on a bench nearby, and she lights up when she recognizes Toph. Closing her textbook, Katara gets up to walk over to her friend.]

Hi, Toph--

[Whoa, wait a minute. Toph looks like death. Without asking for permission, Katara presses the back of her hand against the Earthbender's forehead.]

Are you sick?

[Hello Katara's hand, meet Toph's forehead, which is hot with a fever. Very hot. She hasn't gotten any sleep in the past couple of days, so she just looks tired.]

[Katara makes a quick swipe of the air with her hand, drawing the moisture with her bending. Willing the water to glove her hand, she lets a cool breath blow from her lips to freeze the liquid before pressing it to Toph's forehead.]

Have you gone to Dr. Kadowaki?

[Toph shivers when Katara's cold hand touches her forehead. She really should be in bed, but she kind of refuses to.]

I haven't yet. I still don't feel comfortable going to her yet.

[She pauses, then mutters to herself, loud enough for her bff to hear.] I bet this is payback from the spirits for metalbending the school...

[Katara is just about to fret over Toph some more when she catches the last of her words. There's a long, long pause... and suddenly the ice around her hand shatters.]

[This is Toph moving away from Katara on the bench, clear to the other side.]

The Commander let me go! I totally didn't get in trouble with him.

[That doesn't calm her down-- in fact, it only makes Katara freak out some more.]

The Commander caught you metalbending the school? Toph! What were you thinking?

[A hand makes way to her own forehead as she pinches the bridge of her nose. Katara is trying very hard to keep her patience.]

But I didn't, so that's all that matters. I'm gonna go to my room and lay down. [Trying to get away from lecturing Katara is go!]

[And a hand shoots out to snatch Toph's hand before she can even attempt to move away.]

Not so fast! I'll take you to your room and take care of you-- and you're going to listen to everything I say. [Sorry Toph, you're not gonna get out of this lecture.]

[Toph replies at first with a rather loud cough, followed by her wiping her nose with her arm.]

A friend of mine got me sick.

[He offers the poor girl a hand.]

[She looks at his hand, then shakes her head.] Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not too keen on the doctors here yet.

[He was hoping she wouldn't be difficult. Clearly, he doesn't know Toph very well.]

Well, what if I hang around and keep an eye on things, or go get one of your friends to go with you?

[Her eyes briefly caught his gaze, but he felt it rude to stare. Surely she had someone here she trusted, right?]

[Aang is walking around the quad as usual (he does this when he's bored since it seems he always meets interesting people here) when he spots Toph. He approaches her happily.]

So I'm totally sick, and I feel horrible and I don't want to go to the Infirmary because it's weird.

Why's that? I'm not exactly one to defend nurses or anything, but they seem nice enough.
