[Slagging new world with its slagging new rules and its slagging assumption that he'd actually attend all of these fragging classes. Damian scowled as he kicked up random flowers in the Quad. He didn't mind the "attending school" part - he was in the sixth grade back home - but really? Just snatching him from Gotham and expecting him to comply with the rules here? Blasphemy!

The Course Catalog's still at his side, but he hasn't bothered to read it. Still, with the dirt and flowers all over him, Damian's making himself - and the Quad - ridiculously messy. Still upset, he growls:] The dregs could've at least warned us beforehand! [... yeah, someone had definitely tuned out a good deal of the explanation. Considering the rage this kid's in, this may or may not be a good thing.]

Now come on, what did the plants do to you?

[The way he phrased the question wasn't really in a condescending way, but with how Damien was behaving, it certainly reminded him of Teepo's antics.]

[Glances over his shoulder at the guy - man, the attitude is so reminiscent of Damian's older brother.] Plants're plants. It's not like they can't grow back.

[snorts] It's the least collateral damage I can do until this place sends me back.

So? Someone could kick you, and the damage would heal eventually. That doesn't mean people should hurt you, right?

[Oh Damian, you two are going to have fun together.]

Couldn't you find a more productive use of your time? Fishing is always good.

Tt! Like that doesn't stop them. [He pauses, remembering that he's... sorta-kinda not a superhero here.]

... People actually fish here? I wanted to play video games, but I couldn't find any.

You must know some rude people if they kick you around for the heck of it. I'm not sure what video games are, but I fish, and I happen to be quite good at it. I'm Ryu.

[Mmm... how should he put this?] You get used to it after a while... when you're Bruce Wayne's errand boy, you'll run into jerks.

... Damian Razem. [he wasn't raised to be rude, so he extends a hand] I just arrived this morning.

[He shook the other boy's hand, offering him a smile.] I've been here about a week. It takes some getting used to, but you'll find some good people here. Just... Not so much with the natives. Some of them don't like whoever pops up here, but you don't look like you stand out. Maybe they'll leave you alone.

[He shrugs after he lets go.] Maybe... and maybe they won't. It's hard to tell whenever you're somewhere foreign.

[Still, he offers a sheepish smile in return.] So I'm guessing no one's figured a way back home yet.

No, they haven't. Although I'm not in any real rush. The world I come from will be fine without me. Besides, how often does this sorta stuff happen?

... A lot? [blinks at him] My world needs me a lot. Or well, my mom and dad're probably worried sick.

Well, think of all the stuff you could learn here and show them back home.

I guess... but they were teaching me stuff too. [he sighs] I'd be fine if I knew home'd be fine without me.

[It's obvious he doesn't want home to be fine without him--- goshdarnit, the world needs Batman and Robin.]

I'm sure your friends are worried about you.

[He had given it some thought himself. His own friends were probably worried sick. He tried not to picture Nina's face.]

... If they even know I'm missing.

[he sighs, willing himself to not think about it] So what kinds of classes're you planning to take?

[He reaches into his jacket, retrieving a scrap of paper from it, then passing it to Damian.]

I always keep my class schedule on hand. Makes it easier not to get lost.
